The Sans Amp Bass Driver. from Tec 21.

Go to your local music store. ( at this point they are probably all Guitar Centers anyways )

Ask to try one.

Plug in ANY bass into ANY amp or combo unit.

They are amazingly versatile, simple to operate and adjust.

You can get almost ANY tone out of it. You like Korn? it's there. Kings X? It's there too.

Want something warm and mellow sounding?

It's there too.

Only draw back... It's 200 bucks.

is it a combo or what? more details laddy!

It's a pedal but you can also get it in rack form.

Personally, I'd say a power conditioner for inconsistant power supplies and it also cleans up the signal so you get no backround noise, or a sonic maximizer which evens out the signal coming out of your speakers, making your tone more pronounced and clean. But great investments and both under $100. Can't go wrong with a good rackmount tuner either. Pair all that with the Sansamp, your head of choice, and a good 6-space rack, you'll have yourself a VERY impressive and tonally sound rig.
