Dear Diary,

I am engaged...I cannot quite believe it! Damien came around to mine to discuss what it was that he had planned for February, and then he proposed! I cried when he did so, it was everything that I had hoped for, and I still can't quite wrap my head around the fact that this beautiful ring means represents what it does.
Now all I have to do is tell my mother. I'd tell my father but he is still missing. I hate him...for everything he has put my mother through. And I know that this is something I would have wanted him to know about, and a small part of me thinks that he never will. I think he has left us for good, and I dont know that my mother will be able to cope.
I spoke to her briefly about Eirnae and Lenore's offer to live at Emerald Haven. She was pretty short, and snappish with me over it. She said she was angry that I'd spoken of our problems with other people. I told her that I had to tell someone about it as I couldnt bear keeping it all in side.
I hope she is ok. She hasnt been home I think since Damien stayed the night. I am worried, more so now that I know she drinks much more then she used to.

Rhiannon yawned, her roller boots slung over her shoulder as she strolled up the front path towards the house. She pulled out her keys, finding the right one and used it, turning the key and pushing the door open.
'Mum?' she called, listening, her ears flickering as she listened. Shutting the door she walked into the hallway, then picked up the letters that were discarded on the floor. She sniffed the air, the scent of alcohol hung heavily around her. She sighed. Her mother was home, or had come home recently. Laying the letters on a table, she stashed her boots away underneath it, then hung her coat up. Keys went on the key hook, and she headed into the living room.
Her mother was lying on the sofa, a glass and an empty bottle on the table at the end of the sofa. Rhiannon shook her head, walking over to her mother and kneeling down. She blinked a moment...something wasnt right, her mother didnt seem to have just passed out, her skin was too pale and cold, her breathing irregular and her eyes were rolled up when Rhiannon gently pried back one lid. She shook her mother's shoulders, anxiety gnawing at her now.
'Mum! Mum!' she yelled, shaking her, trying to evoke a reaction. Sayuri just lolled back when she let her go, one arm falling to the side, the hand hitting the floor. Rhiannon pressed hands against her mouth for a moment, then she gnawed hard at her lip, drawing blood then lunged for the phone on the table at the middle of the living room. With shaking fingers she dialled the emergency services, her legs giving out and she sat in a trembling heap as the operator finally answered.
'Please...' she stumbled out.
'My mother, she's collapsed, and and drink..she's been drinking and she's not waking up..' Rhiannon shook her head as the woman calmly spoke to her.
'No..there's a pulse..she's breathing but - wrong ..address,' she haltingly gave out her address, and was told an ambulance was being dispatched. She clung onto the phone as the operator spoke and then hung up, getting to her feet and going to open the front door, pacing between it and back into the living room. As she was walking back down the hallway for what seemed like the millionth time she heard sirens, the noise making her jump. Two ambulance men hurried down the path, and she took them to Sayuri. They attended to her, preparing her to be moved, and putting her on oxygen. Rhiannon grabbed her front door keys, and followed, completely on autopilot, as they put her mother in the back of the ambulance. She got in as well, the doors were shut and they were off, heading for the hospital.

Rhiannon paced, tugging on the collar of her work uniform for she hadnt even gotten chance to change. She'd been mistaken for the volunteer helpers here more times then she could count, and she sat down again now, listlessly staring at the opposite wall in the waiting room, her legs sticking to the vinyl seat, a cold cup of coffee next to her that a nurse had bought and she couldnt bring herself to drink. She stood again, glancing at the clock. A few hours had passed since her mother had been bought in, and all she had been told was that they were going to pump her stomach..and she'd heard nothing since.
She went over to the nurses station, and was told that her mother had come out of the treatment room and the doctor would come see her shortly. She balled her fists, and took deep breaths, walking away, furious that no one had said anything to her earlier. Rhi sat again, tears pricking her eyes and she blinked, rubbing her hands over her tired face, trying not to break down here in the waiting room. She tucked her legs under her, trying to get comfortable in this awful seat as she waited for the doctor to turn up.
Rhiannon must have dozed off, for the next thing that happened was a voice clearing near her. She opened her eyes, unsure where she was for a moment then looked up at the doctor standing over her.
'Ms Wolfenbrother?' he asked.
Rhiannon nodded.
'Your mother is in recovery now. She is on an IV, and will likely be asleep till sometime tomorrow. I would suggest going home and resting,' he said, in a kind tone.
'I can't see her?' she asked.
'You can, but as I said she will be highly unlikely to wake until tomorrow, and it would be best if she rested as much as possible.'
Rhiannon nodded.
'Okay.' she stood, shaking the doctors hand.
'Thank you.'
She went over to the nurses station, and was directed to Sayuri's room. She didnt want to leave until she had at least looked in on her mother. She opened the door slowly, tiptoeing inside. Her mother looked so pale, her head turned to the side slightly, the tube from the IV trailing from the back of one hand and she just looked so fragile. Rhiannon bit back a sob, staggering back out and left the room, leaving the hospital swiftly. She had no idea where to go, and she just stumbled along the streets, her face stained with tears...

Rhiannon hugged herself, rubbing her arms under the thin jacket she was wearing. It was the first thing she'd grabbed on leaving the house, and as evening was drawing in the temperature had plummeted. She shivered, her mind numb though as she walked on. She looked around; where the hell was she? The surroundings looked a little familiar, and she sniffed the air, trying to make herself think, and work out where she was. There was a scent she recognised, and she finally worked out that she was close to Damien's home.
She had a purpose now, and her slowing steps took her by degrees closer. Finally she was staggering down the path to the imposing estate, and she folded up on the porch, physically and emotionally too tired to get to the door...

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore was just getting home, but entering from the back entrance. Her movements to the back door are too fast for anyone to see, and soon, she is inside.

And a startled Faene almost jumps out of his skin. Lenore kneels down, to meet Faene's eyes, and says, "Go and get Damien, Faene," to the house elf softly, and calmly. Faene nods, in his same enthusiastic way, and scurries off.

Lenore paces the hall a moment, thinking if it might be better for Damien to answer the door, or herself.

Biting her lip, and letting her maternal instincts take control, she strides toward the door.

Damien, followed closely by Kamus and Harry, meets her there. "Did you need something?" he asks.

Lenore raises an eyebrow, noting that he was preparing for bed. "Put your traveling robe on," she says.

"To talk?" Damien says, confused. But, he grabs for the black robe, and shrugs into it.

"No, we have a guest. . . ." Lenore says, pointing at the door. Lenore nudges Harry out of her way with her foot, and lets Damien open the door.

Blinking, he looks around. Then, down. . . .

He is at Rhiannon's side in a flash, concern etched on his features. "Melamin," he says, gently, putting a hand on her shoulder to test whether she is asleep or not. "Come on, come in from the cold," he is prepared to carry her in if he has to. . . .

Rhiannon's eyes had closed, the cold of the porch step pressing against her cheek. She just wanted everything to stop; if it wasnt for Damien she wasnt sure what she would do...Damien. Did she just hear his voice? Why was Damien at her house?.. then her confused mind managed to process the thought that she'd found her way to Damien's and had dropped down exhausted on the step. She pushed herself up, mortified to be found in this state, especially by Damien.
'I didnt...know where else to go,' she explained, her face hidden by her hair, not wanting to look at him for fear of breaking down again.
Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"I'll go and tell Emme to start the tea," Lenore hisses. When Damien nods, she turns and starts back to the kitchen to find the house elf.

"It's alright, mela. We'll just get you inside, and warm you up," he says, keeping the worry in his voice to a minimum. Damien puts his arms under Rhiannon and, with a strength that he does not look as though he possesses, he lifts her off the cold porch and up into his arms. Kamus and Harry get out of his way as he makes his way toward the sitting room.

Once there, he sets her gently on the couch, and removes his traveling robe. He wraps it around her shoulders, and starts to rub her arms. "Take a minute," he says, still in a gentle voice. "Warm up, and when you are ready, you can tell me what has you so upset."

Rhiannon let Damien carry her, the feeling of being in his arms more of a comfort then he would realise. She relaxed on the couch, pulling the robe around her, teeth chattering a little still. She nodded, covering the silly uniform with his robe and leaned back a little, shutting her eyes a moment.
When her shivers were less, she looked at Damien, shifting so that her back was supported by the couch back.
'I came from the hospital,' she said slowly, her fingers twisting into the material of his robe as she spoke.
'My mother was rushed there this afternoon with alcohol poisoning.' she bit her trembling bottom lip, trying not to cry.
'I got home from work and found her passed out.'
Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore, having brushed Emme away, is standing in the doorway when Rhiannon explains things. Her hands fist around the silver of the serving tray, denting it.

Erebus is perched on her shoulder, feeling that he will get ample food from his charge this night, and sucks at her fury.

Damien glances toward door, and notes the wild nightmare, and the slightly red quality in his mum's eyes. "Thank you, Mum Lenore. Can you give us a minute," he says, looking at her meaningfully.

Lenore nods, jerkily, and sets the tray down on the coffee table in front of the sofa with suprising restraint. She descreetly taps her wand to the tray, and it is repaired. She is soon sweeping out of the room, intending to make some phone calls.

When she is gone, Damien returns his attention to Rhiannon. He keeps rubbing her arm with one hand, and the other he uses to point his wand at the tea pot and a cup and saucer. The tea begins pouring, and he begins to speak. "Mela, if you need a cry about this, you can do that," he says, gently. If she did, the tea could wait.

He sets his wand on the floor beside him and lifts his hand to brush the hair out of her face. "You have had a rough night, no one would blame you for it. . . ." He pauses, and watches Rhiannon's face. "Is your mum alright?"

Rhiannon glanced at Lenore, scenting something in her emotions but as she left again she just shrugged inwardly. Rhiannon watched as the tea poured itself, the magic show a welcome distraction.
'I'm worried if I start I won't stop,' she said shakily.
'The doctor said..' she swallowed thickly before carrying on.
'She would sleep until tomorrow after the stomach pump, and she was hooked up to an IV. I saw her.' she looked straight at Damien.
'She was so..small, and - and..' her head went down again, her shoulders shaking.
Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Damien feels his own stomach being clawed at, and as though there is a vise around his heart. He doesn't like seeing Rhiannon like this, but he really doesn't think that anything he can say will make her feel better.

So, he brings her into a hug, holding her close to him, and strokes her hair. "Your mum will be fine," he says, softly, keeping up the the hair stroking. "The doctors know what they are doing, she is in good hands."

Rhiannon let Damien hold her, and as soon as his fingers started to stroke though her hair she couldnt hold her tears back and she cried into him, her whole body trembling. She clung to him, her fingers gripping tightly to his clothes;
'Don't leave me,' she cried.
'Everyone leaves me...please don't..' she shook her head, her whole posture abject in her misery.
Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Damien's eyes mist up, and he frowns. He holds her tighter to him, clenching a fist, gently, in her hair at the nape of her neck to reign in his own emotions. He closes his eyes, and begins to rock her.

"Who said I am leaving, Rhiannon?" he asks, in the same soft, soothing tone. "I love you, and I am not going anywhere." He lifts a hand to wipe at his misty eyes, forcing himself to be strong.

But, her misery is just tearing at him. "Your mum isn't going anywhere, either. I'll be there with you when she wake, if you want me there. She will wake up, and she will be back with you." He keeps stroking her hair, letting her purge herself of all of the sadness she has through her tears. He kisses the top of her head, and then rests his scaled cheek on it.

"I'm not going anywhere, melamin" he repeats, still rocking her.

Rhiannon mumbled a little, eyes heavy as Damien gently rocked her.
'Love you..' she shaped the words, her fingers stilling as everything caught up with her. She just felt so .. tired, beyond tired really. Her tail curled up, resting on the curve of her hip and she snuggled into him.
'Tired..' she managed.
Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Not sure whether he should move her upstairs or not, he decides that the sitting room might be best. Lifting her a little, he slides onto the couch, putting Rhiannon in his lap first, before lying back, resting her head on his shoulder, and adjusting the traveling robe over her.

He keeps stroking her hair. "Rest here for the night," he starts. "I won't leave your side. Just close your eyes and rest. . . ."

He starts to hum an elven song he remembers from when he was younger, and rubs her back with his other hand. He rests his cheek on her head again, hoping to lull her into sleep.

Once she is asleep, he makes a note to get Kamus to get his mums. He wants an update on his soon-to-be mother-in-law. . . .

Hospital Visit

Sayuri: Her head pounding, Sayuri opened her puffy eyes slowly, a hand going up to her head. That hurt though and she looked, down her body to said hand, blinking at the tube trailing from it.
'Oh..' she mumbled, as her mind slowly processed where she was. White walls, chair, IV...hospital. She sunk back against the pillow, smacking dry lips and wondering who had gotten her here. She hoped it wasnt Rhiannon, and a sick feeling swept over her. She swallowed, shutting her eyes for a while and lying there, listening to movement outside her room.

Lenore: Lenore watches Sayuri from the shadows. She has been here all night, hiding when a nurse came in every now and again. Now, crimson-tinted, amber eyes watch her friend move.Lenore has had all night to let her once-boiling anger to simmer down into a more subdued version of that emotion, and worry. Without moving from her spot, where she is leaning against a wall, she says, "It is so kind of you to come back among the living, Sayuri. . . ." her voice is not as friendly as it would usually have been, but it carries a hint of the worry that she is feeling.

Sayuri: Sayuri started, opening her eyes again and pushing herself slowly into a sitting position. The room spun a little as her blood shifted, and she closed her eyes until the sensation passed.
'It's not something I wanted..' she said evasively, not knowing if she was referring to her state or returning to a conscious state.

Lenore: Still not emerging from the shadows, Lenore shakes her head. "As I am sure it was not your intention for Rhiannon to come home and find you close to death. I hope I am correct in this, Sayuri, or you and I will have to part ways. . . ."

Sayuri: Sayuri paled; an interesting look as her skin was almost whiter then white right then.
'No,' she whispered.
'I never wanted Rhiannon to know I was doing this...is she ok?' she looked up, staring into the shadows, the faint shadows under her eyes giving her face a haunted look.

Lenore: Lenore lets any pains of pity she feels for Sayuri evaporate on contact. With movements too quick for any human eye to see, she is at the side of Sayuri's bed, though opposite the direction that Sayuri is facing. "She is fine . . . physically. She stayed at the manor. Her fiance was tending to her."
She shakes her head again, and looks away from Sayuri. "You can't possibly know how you have hurt her . . . and how disappointed, and angry I, personally, am at you right now. . . ."

Sayuri: 'I am glad she is safe,' Sayuri nodded, then looked slowly at Lenore.
'No I don't know how much I've hurt her...I don't want to think about it as I don't want to drown in self pity anymore,' she blinked furiously, tugging on the ends of her hair with the hand that wasnt attached to the IV.
'You wouldnt be anymore more angry with me then I am with myself.' she looked away.
'I just couldnt..deal with any of it. Somewhere I thought that it would be better for her if I wasnt here, the twisted part of me that wants to drink. I didnt want to see the shame on her face, when she looked at her drunk mother.'

Lenore: Sighing, Lenore grabs the bed rail, it groaning under the stress that her grip is putting on it. She grits her teeth, and pulls her crimson lips back. This is the first time that Sayuri will have caught a glimps of Lenore's fangs. Opening her eyes, the crimson is still on the rims of Lenore's overly-large, amber irises; bleeding into them. "What are friends for, Sayuri, if not to help through problems. You helped me, when Eirnae was gone. You listened to my worries. Do, I am doing you a favor . . . not only am I allowing you and Rhiannon to move into my home, but I am doing my level best not to slap you right now. . . ."

"Perhaps some fault lies with myself," she says, releasing her grip on the rail, leaving impressions of her hands behind. She paces away from Sayuri's bed, turning her back to her. Her tail swishes behind her, in an agitated manner. "Maybe that is why you never came to me with your problems. Or, perhaps you are too damn proud. Sayuri, our children are to be wed, we need to be able to talk to each other."
Sighing, she crosses her hands over her chest. "I have pieced together some of it on my own, why don't you fill me in on the whole of it?"

Sayuri: Sayuri shrunk back, holding the bed sheet up as if it could shield her from Lenore. Teeth..fangs? Her mind was still slow, the after affects of the alcohol lingering and she just nodded, tears making tracks down her face. She wiped her cheeks, trembling again and took some breaths. What had Lenore just said;
'Marriage? I must have...did Rhiannon tell me and I forgot about it?' she genuinely couldnt remember her daughter telling her something that big.
'Rhiannon and Damien?' she asked, tentatively, not wanting to be bitten or the like.

Lenore: Lenore presents her profile, such as it is, to Sayuri, and nods. "Yes, our children are engaged. I am sure that Rhiannon told you of it, I do not think that it is something she would have kept to herself."
Finally, she turns back around to face Sayuri. "You are missing some of your daughter's life, Sayuri. Don't be a bad mum. Clean up before it is too late, before she is lost to your forever."
She takes a few steps back toward the bed. "If you feel you need help, our offer for the both of you to move in is still open. No bad memories for you to try and overcome, and the support of your friends is all that we offer."

Sayuri: Sayuri brought her knees up, hugging them to herself.
'I don't want to be. I want to see my daughter get married. She'll look so beautiful,' she fell silent again, remembering the day Rhiannon was born, the pain that had preceded being handed the most precious thing in her life.
'David has left me ..' she said finally.
'He vanished months ago, and I hoped - waited for his return. I started drinking more then normal, it dulled my feelings and I could get through things. And then..yesterday I think, the days are blurred really, was when the letter came...from him.' her face grew dark.
'Simple words..couldnt return, couldnt keep hurting me. I just opened the bottle, and I didnt want to know anymore.'

Lenore: Lenore clenches her fists, her talons digging into her skin, when she hears the end of it. Her face softens, though, and she walks the rest of the way to the bed. She sits, gingerly, on the edge, and unclenches her fists.
Not realizing that she might have scared Sayuri earlier, or, even, that her fangs were bared at all, she holds her arm out in offer of a hug. "Sayuri. . . . I am so sorry to hear about that . . ." she doesn't know what else to say to her.

Sayuri: Sayuri hesitated a moment, but remembered that Lenore had always been a good person; after all prejudice against her daughter's kind was as bad, and she would happily thump anyone who acted strange around Rhiannon. She shifted on the bed and clung to Lenore for a moment.
'I've been so stupid,' she mumbled.
'I didnt want to ask for help..' she said softly.
'That would be admitting I couldnt cope, and I've never been able to do that.'

Lenore: "Yeah, you have been a git," Lenore remarks, smiling slightly as she hugs her friend. "But, you have admitted it now. So, that is a step to redeeming yourself." She looks down at the arms she has around Sayuri. "You have a long road ahead, I think. Don't make yourself do it alone. . . ."

Sayuri: 'A git huh?' Sayuri smiled, the first time she had felt like doing so for a long while. She shook her head.
'I can't do it alone anymore. I can't let myself do this to Rhiannon again. She needs me to be healthy.' she thought of going back to the house, seeing everything that reminded her of David.
'We can...move into your estate?' she asked.

Lenore: "Yes, she needs you to be healthy. We have a wedding to help plan, after all," Lenore says, smiling wider. "Just, hold on to the good memories that you are going to make when you think you are going to slip back into the bad," she adds, softly.
Lenore nods at the last question. "Yes. We have a whole floor of rooms that we are doing absolutely nothing with," she explains. "And, if you needed more room, I can just wave my wand and make it so," she says, smiling. "It would be our honor to have you live with us."

Sayuri: Sayuri nodded, smiling again at the thought of the future nuptials.
'I can't believe my little girl is getting married,' she said, her voice tinged with wonder. A thought struck her though, which sunk her down a little.
'She wont have her father to give her away..' and sighed.
'I cant believe he would leave us...leave Rhiannon. I thought he loved us.' her hands balled the sheet as she made fists of them. She shook herself.
'No..musnt think like this,' she looked at Lenore.
'Thank you...I cant begin to tell you what this means to me. But please. I know its a great deal to ask before we've even moved in, but I need a clean house..alcohol wise. I don't want to be tempted..'

Lenore: Lenore smiles in a way that tells Sayuri that she is ahead of her. In fact, last night, before getting to the hospital, she and Eirnae locked up the elven wine that they keep around the manor. The door to the room it is kept in is locked with both her brand of magic, and Eirnae's.
"And, as far as giving Rhiannon away, there is always you to do that, or someone she is really close to," she says, softly. "When the time comes to address it, you will know."
She then smiles even wider, keeping her lips closed. "It's our pleasure, having the both of you, and any animals you have scurrying around, with us."

Sayuri: 'Thank you,' Sayuri moved again, pushing her pillows up and resting back against them.
'I don't know when I'll be out of here though, everything of Rhiannon's and mine will need packing up.' she looked at Lenore.
'Rhiannon told me...at least I think that's where I heard it..things are really muddled right now, that Eirnae is back? I am glad for you.'

Lenore: "You are very welcome," Lenore says. "If you need help packing, let me know. Faene and Lucius could help with that. Myabe Alimus, if Lucius talks him into it."
Then, she nods. "Yes, Eirnae is back. She's been trying to get in touch with all of her old friends. She will be most pleased to learn that you accepted our offer," she says.

Sayuri: 'Thank you,' she said once more.
'I would appreciate that,' she covered her mouth as a yawn snuck out.
'I would happy to see her again. It's been so long,' Sayuri said, stretching the hand which the IV was in. It was itching and uncomfortable.
'Do you know if they've arranged a date? I didnt miss being told that did I?'

Lenore: Lenore shakes her head. "It's only just happened, I think they are letting it all sink in actually," she replies. "You haven't missed anything, really. We were only told a few days ago, actually," she says, smiling again.

Sayuri: Sayuri looked grateful;
'I am very glad. I'm just sorry that I've put her through all this. I guess that's a good way to help myself stay dry. Remembering that I did this to my daughter.' her brow wrinkled as she frowned.
'I just hope..I guess I dont deserve her forgiveness.'

Lenore: Lenore's frowns a little. "It is not for me to say whether or not you deserve her forgiveness. But, I can say that, it is probably not too late for you to try and get it anyway." She puts a hand over Sayuri's, the one without the IV. "Getting dry, as you put it, is the best way to show her that you are willing to try."
She looks around. "If you want me to leave, let you get some rest, do some thinking on your own, I can. I fancied a chat with your doctor, anyway. If I get information out of him about your release date or time, I'll send him your way." She's giving Sayuri a way out, in case she DOES want to think on her own. She has a feeling that she might have a bit of things she will want to work out before she talks to Rhi again.

Sayuri: 'I hope so,' she looked away a moment, determined not to cry.
'I don't want her to lose both parents.'
Sayuri looked back at Lenore, nodding.
'I think I'll sleep some, then give Rhiannon a call, ask her if she'll come see me. Thank you, I very much appreciate everything you are willing to do for us.'

Lenore: "She's not going to," Lenore says, squeezing the hand hers is over. She then stands, and says, hoping to brighten Sayuri's spirits a little, "I'll get a comb sent to you. Your hair looks a fright!" It is said in such a playful tone that she hopes Sayuri won't take it as offensive.
"And, I will send the doctor along as soon as I am done with him," she smiles a little. "Get some rest. You just poured a bit of your heart out, and that is draining." With a wave, she starts out the door.

Sayuri: 'Thanks,' Sayuri deadpanned, putting a hand up and touching her hair.
'Cya,' she said, settling back on the bed as the door closed behind Lenore. She felt a measure of hope. She wouldnt be alone anymore, and that was mostly what she needed.

'Mother..' Rhiannon had a hand on the door of the hospital room, half in and not sure if she could bring herself to walk right in. Sayuri looked up from packing her stuff into the overnight bag that Lenore had kindly brought her. Her thin face paled a little at the sight of her daughter; Rhiannon had not come to see her before now, not that she could blame her, and she was a little frightened of this confrontation to come. She zipped the bag closed.
'You're looking well Rhiannon,' Sayuri commented gently.
'You look like crap,' retorted Rhiannon sharply, seeming to wince at the sound of her words.
'Well yes, I imagine I do, and that I deserved that.' her mother said. Rhiannon looked Sayuri over, taking in the frail form under the baggy clothes that were meant to hide it, the streak of grey that had sprung up in Sayuri's once glossy hair and her pale features.
'How could you..why?' Rhiannon blurted out, bottom lip trembling as she sought not to cry. She came into the room finally, shutting the door behind her. Sayuri lowered herself back onto the bed, pushing the bag aside and patting the sheets. Rhiannon gingerly sat.
'My beautiful daughter,' Sayuri spoke gently, reaching out and touching Rhiannon's cheek. Rhi flinched a little, her mother's fingers were a touch cold, the skin worn from the woman's nervous biting of it. Sayuri moved the hand, running a length of Rhiannon's hair through her fingers instead. Rhi closed her eyes, listening as her mother spoke.
'I'll tell you something I've never told you before. My youth wasnt like yours, I grew up in Japan, daughter of a scholar who had fallen from favour. I was sold, as girls sometimes are to the Mama-san of a okiya when I was only 9.'
Rhiannon opened her eyes, looking at her mother, who was staring into space, back where her words were taking her.
'It was unimaginable. Torn from the only place I knew and told I was to work here until such time as I had payed my debt back to the Mama-san. I was bought because I was destined to become a Maiko, then a Geisha, picked because even at a young age I had a natural grace. That wasnt to say I did not play, but I could become serious, and then my movements become lyrical..so I was told.' she sighed a little, looking briefly at her daughter before carrying on.
'I tried to escape, but eventually gave in to my new life, I had no choice after all, to return to my family would have caused them much distress, and I had no doubt my father would have already spent the money he was given for me. My mother..she had died a year after my birth.'
'That's why I've never met my grandparents then?' Rhi asked.
Sayuri nodded;
'I could never forgive my father for selling me, and a few months ago I was sent news that he too had died.'
Rhiannon said nothing, but wondered if that too had contributed towards her mother's drinking problem, despite her claiming to hate her father.
'When I was old enough for mizauge..a practice that despite being outdated, was something my mama-san could not pass over selling, there was a bid from the patron of a Geisha who had never liked me. Hated me I believe. By this time I had become popular, I was a fair dancer, but my proficiency lay in the shamisen, and I was often called upon to play at teahouse events. My rival was also a shamisen player, and when I was chosen instead of her for a role in one of the more prominent performances of the area, her bitter jealousy grew into a rage. She attacked me on the night of my mizuage, leaving me badly scarred on my back. This is also why you'll have never seen me bare my back..not even when we went swimming.'
'I wondered,' Rhiannon said gently.
'Yes...I have always had a paranoia since I met David that somewhere was another assassin hiding in the shadows to wreck my life. When he left me again...and never came back I wanted to drown myself in alcohol, and not confront the tatters of my life. If I was gone...you would mourn, but it would pass and I couldnt infect you with my failings.'
'Mother..' Rhiannon said, her voice pained.
'I wouldnt get over losing you and .. dad,' she forced herself to say the word.
'I know that now, I know it was selfish of me to just want to slip away. It's harder to live then go, but I'm going to try. If you'll give me the second chance to be your mother.' Sayuri looked at Rhiannon who was by now crying.
'I dont want anyone else to leave me,' she cried, wrapping her arms around Sayuri.
'And I promise I wont try to leave you before my proper time.' Sayuri replied, hugging her daughter tightly, stroking her hair.

'So..gonna tell me about the proposal then?' Sayuri asked when she was checked out of the hospital, heading back to their house in a taxi. Rhiannon rolled her eyes;
'You are feeling better ..being nosey already,' she grinned.
'Curious is all,' Sayuri replied as they pulled up outside the house.
'Well...maybe I'll tell you later,' Rhiannon opened the front door after the taxi driver had been paid and driven off again.
'Okay,' Sayuri looked around, noting the folded packing boxes and packaging material.
'Give me a few days, and we'll begin packing up okay?' she looked at her daughter.
'Okay..' Rhiannon disappeared off towards the kitchen, leaving out the back door and climbing the old tree she had used when she taught Damien how to climb trees. She clung to the trunk, pressing her cheek against the bark and cried herself out before heading back inside.

Rhiannon looked around her bedroom, the walls stripped bare, the drawers empty, at the labelled packing boxes filled with her belongings. She sat on the mattress, pulling on a loose thread on the material, hand running across it.
'This was where..' she mumbled, the memory of her and Damien on the bed, the halting touches, exploration and joining.
'Really? Well at least you didnt do it in a park, or the back of a car then,' Sayuri commented, having caught Rhiannon's words.
'Mother..' Rhiannon coloured.
'Well its good to see you aren't so old and experienced that I can't embarrass you.' Sayuri chuckled. Rhiannon nodded, pulling on the thread some more. Sayuri walked over and sat on the bed.
'Are you okay?'
Rhiannon shrugged.
'I know this is hard, leaving the only place you knew, but this isnt our home anymore. It was always..David's..' Sayuri said his name carefully, her voice and posture suddenly fragile.
'We need our own place. And as Lenore has kindly offered to take us in, for us to live at their Estate, I think it will be good for the both of us.'
Sayuri knew that Rhiannon would appreciate living closer to her now fiance and indeed her daughter was smiling broadly as she nodded.
'I'm glad you are still okay with it..I know there are alot of family memories here..'
A shadow seemed to pass over Sayuri's face, and Rhiannon reached out concerned but Sayuri just shook away her hand.
'We can make our own, new memories..' she stood, her kimono skirts falling to the floor.
'I'm fine - and I really mean that.' she reached and tugged one of Rhiannon's wolf ears gently.
'I need to let Eirnae know that our belongings are packed up. Our new furniture is ready for us already, and she mentioned something about our stuff being magically transported or something.'
With those words Sayuri left, padding downstairs.

Rhiannon stood, tail gently swishing. So this was it. She let out a long breath, arms hugging herself. She would give anything for Damien to be there right now, to be holding her as she left behind such a large part of her life. But she would see him soon, and now she had to pull herself together. As she left her old bedroom, her packed belongings slowly disappeared, wending their way to their new place.

'Are you ready?' Sayuri called up. She would return in a few days to let the Goodwill in to remove the furniture as she was donating it to the charity. But for now they were leaving.
'Almost!' Rhiannon called down as she was running upstairs to the third level. She had remembered sneaking up here as a child when her dad had been training. Despite it all she still missed her father.
'Daddy..' she said softly, tracing the marks where weapons had stood, her voice sounding small in the empty, echoing space. She swiped at the tears that had rolled slowly down her cheeks and turned, leaving the room for the last time, and going downstairs. At the front door, she joined her mother who put an arm around Rhiannon when she saw her face.
'Let's go..' she said softly, shutting the front door and locking it. They walked down the path to the waiting taxi which would take them close to the Estate, and from there they would walk the rest of the way...

Journal Entry (Sayuri):

And so on, and so on. Life. It goes endlessly on and we are caught in the wheels, and if we are not careful, we will get crushed by the motion.

I feel that is where Rhiannon is, trampled by the loss of not one, but two important figures in her life. First her father, something which almost crippled me emotionally, led me into my drinking problem, which, whilst being something I can never be complacent about, has become part of my past. I did the steps, I went to the meetings. I can never drink again, but it's a small price to pay for being healthy and alive. She never really spoke too much about it, but I know she felt his absence, and still does.

And now her fiance, young Damien who she was so in love with, he has gone, we know not where. I don't know what to do for Rhiannon. She is spiralling into a black hole and I feel as though I cannot pull her out of it.
I hate this feeling of helplessness I have about the situation. I am her mother, and I feel useless. I see the pain etched on her face, the weight she has lost, how ragged she appears to my eyes and I weep for the bright little girl I once had.

She goes out evey night, comes back scratched and bloodied, clothes torn. I know that she is changing every night, the wounds are from claws, she is fighting, fighting others like herself. I fear that one night she won't return, I don't sleep at night now. I stay awake until I hear her heavy footsteps on the stairs, the key in the door. And then I snatch a few hours, falling into a dreamless sleep for a few hours before I wake again and start the day.
I need help, and I am not sure who to turn to for that help. I cannot burden Sati, she has her own problems, and I know she will give birth soon.

I have to help Rhiannon. I have to. I am losing her. I know it.

Rhiannon inhaled the oh so familiar medical smell of the reception as she pushed the clinic door open, the door making a soft 'shoosh' noise as it opened and then closed behind her. She looked around - everything seemed to bring back strong waves of nostalgia, running around and through the hard plastic chairs with her childhood friends. Her parents bringing her here..she felt a lump in her throat, refusing to carry on the thoughts. She glanced at the unfamiliar member of staff behind the reception desk before taking a seat and picking up an ancient magazine, flicking through the pages.

She knew her mother wasn't in today, and therefore was why she was in. She knew her mother would only try and pry if she knew that Rhiannon was in to get her prescription renewed for her contraceptive pill; wanting to know the whos and how many she was sleeping with. Rhiannon actually wasn't..and hadn't since Damien had gone. But months and months of frustration had started to boil over, and she wasn't feeling so self destructive as to want to fall pregnant with a virtual stranger. She pushed back her hair, folding her legs so that she was comfortable and got stuck into an article entitled 'Suddenly Single?'

keetabirdy
((I hope you don't mind me jumping in to play smile If you'd rather this be a private RP though I can skip out ))

Not too many minutes later, Keeta pushed a stroller through the door with a very cheerful almost-toddler seated in it. Both had blue hair the color of cornflowers, and ears that came to a slight point, indicating their heritage. Her grey eyes swept over Rhiannon as she entered the room, and if the young woman looked up, Keeta was ready to offer a smile. Either way, she made her way to the reception desk to check in.

The appointment was for Joel. He was due to get another shot, and Keeta gelt bad for him. Shots weren't something that had existed in Evin for the most part. The 'technology' was new there and so it was only something use on the rich or desperately ill. Keeta had never been either.

karma_k
The front door opened and then swiffed closed to mark the entering of another. Kendall really didn't know why he'd stopped in, only that he'd quite literally been in the neighborhood at the time.

His morning had been comprised, since Tourmaline had dropped him and Raven off in town, of drifting from one used car lot to the next, while Ray did the same on the other side of town. They had agreed that both of them had better ways they could be spending their day off, and that this would guarantee that they'd cover as much ground as possible in half the time.

....what they hadn't counted on was the the near-constant disagreeing over one continuous cel phone conversation as they bickered over prices, mileage, years, repairs, and whatever other baggage there was that used cars came with. HE didn't want to learn to drive a stick. SHE didn't want a car that perpetually stank like puke because its last owner had made a habit of driving his drunk buddies home. HE didn't want a car that came with 'some assembly required' no matter how cute it was. SHE didn't want a car that had no back seats.

And so on....and so on....

Just before coming inside, he'd turned his cel off, having had enough for awhile. They hadn't found a car all morning, they weren't going to find one in the twenty minutes it took him to cool his jets. The GMFC was somewhere that had been a big part of his childhood, even if he hadn't visited it in awhile. As bi-colored eyes swept the waiting area, he recalled when it had been much more....well....crowded.

The lone receptionist and the one girl he could see occupying a chair, maybe waiting for an appointment, were all there was. Even as he processed this, another mother swept through the front door past him, her child in a stroller. Maybe they'd cracked down on people using the waiting room as a flophouse or something since last he'd visited...maybe they wanted their patients to have more privacy or something...

He reached up to scratch idly behind one ear, venting a sigh. Maybe he should just go and get the car thing over with so it would stop being an issue...

Sayuri_Nitta
(( Don't mind but Rhi is in a mood to really only talk to those she's met before, even if it was a long time ago XD ))

Rhiannon didn't look up from the magazine the first time the door opened, but she did the second. The mother and her kid was given a cursory glance - she didn't remember being that young, but knew that both her parents had come to the clinic when she was that age and it gave her another lurchy, melancholy feeling. She slapped the magazine down, slapping away the memories at the same time and glanced up at the clock, wondering how much longer she would have to sit here.

After she'd taken in the time, and then checked the watch that dangled around her skinny wrist to check if it was right, she looked around to see who else had entered. She regarded him for a while, managing to admit that he was a good looking guy, around her age. Something familiar about him as well, she felt. Like they had met before but briefly or a long time ago. She couldn't put a name to his face at all though.

'Hi..' she said, as she ferretted around in jeans pocket. She pulled out some gum, popping a bit in her mouth. Gum chewing had become a nervous habit lately, and as she chewed, the angles in her face became more prominent. Her recent..stuff, had left her almost rail thin but she was eating more these days.

karma_k
((I don't mind, Keeta. Ken's just a giant ball of social awkwardness, though, so you'll have to pardon him XD; ))

He jolted at the voice, not sure if the greeting was addressed to him or to the mother who'd just walked in. He turned his head toward the source, finding the girl who'd been reading the magazine looking in his direction.

He blinked, then feeling his hands begin to fidget, stuffed them in his jacket pockets. "Hi..." he said. Did he know her? He didn't think so....and that only made things ten times more awkward. Strange girls never said hi to him in public unless they were trying to discreetly tell him his fly was open, or unless they were of the obnoxious young teen variety who ran up to tell him their friend thought he was cute, solely for the purpose of mortifying said friend by making the weird geeky guy aware of her presence.

keetabirdy
((*nods* makes sense. I'm just bored, so even a little interaction is something XD And Joel's been neglected cause I haven't been RPing w/ him much since I've been waiting for his art))

After signing in, Keeta took a seat in one of the plastic chairs near the desk. Another person had entered behind her. A young man, which seemed odd to Keeta. What business did a man of that age have in a maternity and fertility clinic? Inwardly shrugging, she figured there must be SOME reason. Not having been with the GMFC for terribly long yet, she hadn't come to understand the draw it held for those with memories here. Glancing at him, she offered a smile as well, before turning to Joel.

He had started to fuss almost as soon as Keeta had sat down. Now that the stroller wasn't going anywhere, he wanted out so that he could move on his own. True, he wasn't walking yet, but it wouldn't be long. He was crawling like a pro and was pretty steady in standing without support. Keeta had already begun to baby-proof things on a taller level so that a walking Joel wouldn't get himself into trouble.

Sighing, Keeta removed him from the stroller and set him in her lap, hoping that would appease him. She really didn't relish the idea of him crawling around the floor in a public place, even if it was a doctor's office.

Sayuri_Nitta
'I know you don't I?' she said, after popping the small bubble she'd made. It was his ears, she was sure there'd been kids before that had ears like she'd gotten, and she seemed to remember something..but still not his name, if she ever really knew that.

'Rhiannon.' she said, pointing at herself. His body language radiated awkward, and so she didn't go standing up and charging over. Not that she ever felt 'in your face' lately, but he seemed like he would appreciate her not being so.

'Wanna sit?' she motioned to one of the chairs near her.

karma_k
His ears swiveled forward in curiosity at her question. DID she know him....? As she said her name, all she was met with was a clueless blinking of gold-and-red eyes. Rhiannon....it didn't ring a bell.

"I..." he paused to turn his head and cough into his shoulder, clearing his throat. "I'unno, maybe?" he said lamely. "I don't remember everybody I met here when I was small, I guess..."

As she offered him a place to sit, he fought his knee-jerk urge to just turn and leave. No he didn't want to sit. He didn't want to give himself the opportunity to look like a jackass. He -really- didn't want to end up offending her. And he ESPECIALLY did not want to look like some sort of creep to both her, and the lady with the baby who had just gotten situated.

Or, you can stop being a goddamn spaz and go say hi for a minute...

His tail twitched behind himself, betraying the conflicting notions in his head before he moved from where he stood to seat himself a polite distance away from Rhiannon.

Sayuri_Nitta
'I just felt that I did from way back was all,' Rhiannon gave a shrug, popping her gum again, having to smile at his awkward behaviour. She'd only ever been like that around a guy she liked when she was growing up, but had left all that behind. A lightbulb went on - was he shy around girls? Maybe that would explain it..a late bloomer? She looked over at the mother and child, this time actually giving a look that could be interpreted as a greeting of sorts before turning back to the guy who had sat down by now.

'You have a name then?'

keetabirdy
Keeta curiously listened to their conversation. It was a bad habit she had picked up from growing up in a tavern, where travelers almost always had interesting stories. It wouldn't appear she was paying them any attention, however, as she was struggling with Joel, trying to keep him from wiggling in her lap.

He WANTED DOWN!

Joel had seen the two other occupants of the waiting room, with his unusually keen eyesight and wanted to go introduce himself. He fussed and struggled sliding lower and lower in her lap in an attempt to get his feet to the floor.

"Joel, sit still!" she whispered at him in frustration. Keeta knew not everyone wanted a baby crawling over to them to say hello. She gave an apologetic smile to the girl as she looked over, hoping she wouldn't be irritated by Joel's fussing.

karma_k
Name? Name. Dammit. Right. "Uhm, Kendall." he said, pulling a hand from his pocket and reaching across the gap of empty chairs between them to offer it for a shake, hoping it didn't feel clammy. "Or Ken. Either-or..." he gave a nervous chuckle.

Well, so far so good....she hadn't started laughing. Yet.

His attention was momentarily diverted by the sounds of the fussing baby nearby and he turned to watch the mother wrestle with him in an effort to hold onto him. He couldn't help but be reminded of what it was like trying to deal with Arkie or Zhane at that age, and it made his smile warm a bit into something more genuine from the awkward grimace it had been.

Kids had a way of breaking the ice in tense situations, intentionally or not.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon's ears twitched at the sound of the baby, her tail hairs bristling a little. It was a tad annoying but she would keep her temper as this was a clinic, and sounds like that were only to be expected. Besides, it wasn't the kids fault that her fiance had abandoned her was it? No. No it wasn't.

'Kendall..' she mulled his name over, reaching to shake his hand.
'Raven's brother?' she asked. There, now she had remembered. She had met him, a very long time ago when they were both much younger.

karma_k
At this, his eyes widened a bit. ....holy hell, she DID know him. And he didn't have the foggiest idea who SHE was.

Well! That got them off to a good start...

"Yeah...yeah, Raven's brother." he agreed, making an attempt at keeping the conversation going. "You, ah, you know my sister, then?"

keetabirdy
"I'm sorry....He doesn't like being told he can't move around..." Keeta said looking over at the pair, feeling that she needed to appologize. She had manged to get him back square in her lap again, but that didn't mean he was happy about it. She grabbed a toy from the diaper bag and tried to interest him in it.

Sayuri_Nitta
'I didn't either..' Rhiannon cast a glance at the mother, and her squirming kid.
'If you let him move around he'd be quieter?' she asked. She didn't mind him crawling around their feet if he wasn't crying at the same time.

Turning back to Kendall she gave a short nod.
'Yeah. I mean we aren't really close friends or anything, but spent some time with her. She was nice. You get on?'

Rhiannon being an only child had no idea what it was like growing up with a sibling. Maybe it would have been better during the bad times.

karma_k
His eyes moved to Keeta as she spoke, then back to Rhiannon as she responded. "I don't mind if she doesn't." he told the young mother. "I've had a lot of younger brothers and sisters." The tail-pulling and the ear-yanking was almost nostalgic anymore, really...

At Rhia's question, Ken found that he had to bite back a bark of laughter. Yes. We get on great. We get on SO great, in fact, that if I see her in the next hour or so, I am not going to stop shaking her until she tells me why the hell she can't be seen driving an orange toyota. Even if said orange toyota was in better shape than the dodge and only cost four hundred dollars. That's how well we get on.

He did not, of course, SAY any of that, instead hearing something much tamer emerge from his mouth. "We have our ups and downs, I guess...." he told her. "Its....better than it was when we were young anyway."

Sayuri_Nitta
'So you've argued and stuff then, I hear that's normal for siblings. Wouldn't know myself, only child. And likely to stay that way.' Rhiannon pushed the gum up against the roof of her mouth, then chewed on it some more.

'Raven popping in here as well and you're meeting her, or you out on your own?' she wanted to ask him directly what he was at the clinic for, she didn't really think he'd dropped in to socialise.

keetabirdy
"I'm pretty certain he will...He just is to where he's almost walking so he's wanting to GO all the time..." Again Keeta inwardly grimaced at the idea of him crawling on the floor here, but...if it would keep him quiet then perhaps that's all that mattered for the moment. Resignedly, she set Joel on the floor.

Almost instantly he stopped fussing and his mouth broke into a wide smile, showing his teeth that had started to come in a few months ago. He cooed happily and within a moment was on his hands and knees begining to explore his surroundings.

karma_k
"God WILLING, she won't find me here...." he muttered, rolling his eyes in disdain. If there was one thing that was guaranteed to make him, just for a few minutes, forget to feel uneasy, it was to remind him that he was pissed at Raven.

"We're supposed to be looking for a car to replace the one that just died." he explained. "But she was driving me up the damned wall, and I just....needed to sit for a minute." Saying so, he reached up to scratch at his ear again, unaware he was even doing it.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon gave a small smile - so they didn't get on quite as well as he was trying to paint them as being. Good, she knew hers wasnt the only family to have problems, but it was nice to actually hear about them. Slightly reassuring in a strange way.

'I'm sure you'll get it sorted,' she said, looking up as her name was finally called.
'Well that's me. It was nice to see you Kendall, I hope to see you again.' and she meant it. For a few minutes she'd actually felt as close to normal as she had in a long time, and it was a good feeling.

'See you around.'

Sayuri_Nitta
(( Cos I be polite XD ))

Rhiannon walked back into the reception area after leaving the consulting room, folding up her prescription and sliding it into her rear jeans pocket. She would have to hit the pharmacy on the way home. She paused near reception to dump her now well chewed gum in the bin, and made to leave, before realising that not only was Kendall still here, he had been joined by a female who she was sure she recognised straight away.

'Raven?' she made it into a question anyway, just in case it was like her twin or her memory was faulty.

karma_k
He opened his mouth to say something, paused a second, and then instead of words a bray of laughter escaped. Oh god. Oh. GOD.

Just trying to picture the look on her face on the second day....let alone his sister awkwardly attempting to flirt with some random guy....was friggin' hilarious. Not that he had any room to talk, of course, as he'd never even gotten so far as flirting or giving of phone numbers, but even so...

Youkochylde
"Oh F YOU!!" Raven shot back, levelling a closed fist strike at her brother's shoulder before catching a hint of her name and swivelling one ear towards the sound. "At least I act, I don't just sit there and stumble over myself anytime someone with tits goes by, then fap off to 3D Warcraft elves all night."

She was going to kill him. She was convinced of this. That was when she finally caught sight of the person who had called to her, and she just stopped, staring. So THAT was why he'd mentioned her. "Holy crap, Rhi, what happened to you?" Last she remembered, Rhiannon had been smiling, relatively happy and highly amused at Raven's single act of forwardness. Now she looked like a wraith. "You need a date with a sandwich. Seriously, what happened?"

(Edited for missing punctuation. *Sigh*)

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon tried not to laugh at the display of family affection they were putting on, turning it into a cough. It had been worth getting out, she'd hidden herself away for far too long.

'I'm not going to comment on any of that.' she looked between them. The Warcraft comment had sailed over her head at any rate, she was rather a technophobe. The smile fell away at Raven's words towards herself though. It meant talking about it, and thinking about it.

'What you don't like how I look? It's a new diet..called 'get your heart ripped out by the one person you thought you could rely on'.' she smiled, a brittle one that tried to hide the fact that the old, raw nerve had been touched.

karma_k
"At least I don't--" he had started, then trailed off, realizing they were no longer alone, feeling his face flush with embarrassment at Rhiannon's return. Great. Real smooth.

He cleared his throat instead of finishing his thought and settled back into his seat quietly, letting the two of them talk.

Youkochylde
Raven snorted softly, getting to her feet. "Screw the sandwich, you need a date with an ice cream shop." Inwardly, she was grateful that she hadn't gotten mixed up with Damien after all... even if she didn't know the details. "Or at least a latte. Oh HELL..." Catching sight of the receptionist, she winced and remembered that she had her own business here as well. "Gimme a sec."

She turned then, moving to the counter and reaching into her purse. She pulled out a square purple compact and slid it to the woman. "Refill prescription for these please,"

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon looked at Kendall, wondering what the end of that sentence was.
'Don't mind me,' she waved a hand.
'You guys can keep fighting, been about the most amused I've been for a long time.'

She shrugged. She supposed she could eat something, but wouldn't have anything with caffeine, last thing that was needed was a jumpy werewolf. She watched Raven got to reception, and slid into the seat next to Kendall.

karma_k
With Raven occupied, and the argument diffused for the moment, he had returned to much of the same mannerisms he'd exhibited when he'd first arrived -- quiet, eyeing Rhiannon out of the corner of his eye, and seemingly unaware that one of his knees was bouncing.

He was out of his element here. Girls, talking about girls things, refilling girl pills, just....rrgh. Guild chat was getting an earful about the day he'd had when he got home.

Youkochylde
"If us arguing amuses you, you'd think raid night was a riot," Raven commented, still leaning against the counter as the receptionist disappeared to come back a moment later with a small square of paper. "Thanks," she said, picking it up and shoving it and the compact back into her purse. She'd get it refilled later. "Speaking of which..." she said, glancing to her brother. "We're running Naxx tonight, right? We'll need to stop and pick up munchies on the way home."

Fishing in her purse, she pulled out her cell phone, flipping it open and paging down through the text messages of the day. "Yeah. At 7. Gives us plenty of time if we actually wind up liking that car."

Sayuri_Nitta
'Raid night?' Naxx? Rhiannon looked between Raven and Kendall, a puzzled look all over her face. It was like they were talking a whole other language. And they both could drive as well. She'd not ever learned, being trapped in a metal box on wheels didn't appeal to her outdoorsy sensibilities. Give her the wild, the night and room to run and Rhiannon was in her element. Or was once.

'I'm just going to nod along as you're losing my very unused brain.'

karma_k
The tip of his tail wagged a bit at the prospect of someone new he could educate about his and Raven's obsession. "Naxx is a raid. Its sort of this floating dungeon that's full of slime, spiders and--"

bzzt bzzt bzzt!

His phone vibrated against his hip, making him stop short and pull it out to examine the screen, reporting he had one new text message.

"WHERE R U? NEED FLASKS FOR 2NITE"

...dammit. Maybe another time.

"Sorry." he muttered, getting up from where he sat. "I gotta call somebody" his eyes fell to Rhiannon briefly. "It was good meeting you." he said. "....again." That said, he quickly excused himself out of the building to go and make said call, and to ask Wolf, yet again, to please forget he'd ever given him his damn cel number in the first place.

((I R SLEEP NOAW *zonk*))

Youkochylde
Raven moved to follow him, scowling. "Oh do NOT tell me Wolf is at it again," she snarled, knowing full well that the last time he'd gotten a wild hair, he'd called them at 2am to whine about his girlfriend whom he'd never met, except to see her in the game, who was apparently seeing someone that she could actually touch instead of type to.

She waved absently to Rhiannon then, offering a smile. "We'll have to catch up sometime. I'm going to kill our raid leader." She followed Kendall out the door then, letting it swing slowly closed behind her. "Gimme the F'in phone, I'll tell him where to shove those flasks..." was all that was heard, fading as they walked out of earshot.

The last night of the full moon had come and gone, and all that was left was a lingering frustration, and a slight feeling she had to apologise to somebody..about what and who hadn't come back to her yet, when she was completely back to normal then would come the memories; sometimes with regret and embarrassment attached to them. She pulled on her denim cut offs, trying to stop them from sliding down her hips again as she pushed the glass door open and entered the tattoo parlour.

The tattoist Jay surprised her by walking over and hugging her, and as her arms wrapped around him she inhaled his scent, he was wearing some sort of bodymusk deodorant stuff, that and the smell of his skin set off what little lunar hormones were still percolating in her system. She broke the hug looking up at him.
'What was that for?' she asked in an offhand way, trying not to remember the crush she had on him.

'What was that for?' he echoed as he sat in a chair near one of the tables that customers rested on whilst getting their tatts.
'I haven't seen you for months, and you breeze in as if you've never been gone.' he looked at her again.
'You don't look well either.'

Rhiannon waved a hand dismissively.
'I admit I've been through some stuff, but I'm good now, I'm feeling better.'

Jay looked as if he wanted to pry further but she gave him a warning look and held both hands up.
'Fine, fine. So, what do I owe this honour to then?'

Rhiannon held out a piece of paper with a design on it, having taking it from her bum pocket.
'A new tattoo, what else? A workmate designed it for me. I'm moving on with my life after..well this marks a new chapter for me. You have time?'

He nodded as he got up and took the design so he could make a skin template.
'Yeah, it's a slow day today.'
He moved to the door, flicking the latch and putting his 'Tattoo in Progress' sign on the door. His parlour was too small to keep it open during, especially when a customer wanted one on a place that didnt need to be flashed to the public!

Rhiannon hopped up onto the cushioned bench, pulling her t-shirt off so that she was only covered with her bra. She lay there, pushing her finger in and out of the foam as she waited for Jay to be ready. The template was soon done, and once pressed where she wanted it done, he sat down next to her and started. As he worked they chatted, Rhiannon always avoiding her painful subjects. It didn't hurt so much as her first one, her pain threshold was always higher during the full moon time, and so it was a perfect time to get it done.

Eventually he was done, and after wiping it over one last time, Jay helped her up and she walked over to the mirror, tracing her fingers on the skin of her side around the black design.

'Perfect..' she smiled at his reflection, turning so that he could tape on a rectangle of cellophane over the design. As he smoothed onto her skin, she couldn't help the little intake of breath at his touch, the sensation sending pleasing signals all over her body. Really, how long was she supposed to go without sex? Her body seemed to say that at any rate.

Jay had heard the noise as he touched her, and looked up. Rhiannon's eyes were hooded, and he moved his hand lower, sliding his fingers under her loose fitting shorts, watching as she bit at her bottom lip. He stood, pulling her against him, just about remembering to mind the tattoo he'd just finished. Rhiannon surrendered herself to him, arms going around him and her head falling back as he kissed her. She pulled him back towards the bench where she'd just been laying, shedding his and her remaining clothes as they went.

Soon they were both naked, Rhiannon's tail draped over the side as lowered himself onto her. She arched her back, revelling in the touch of another's skin against her own, wrapping her legs around him, as everything became a sweaty tangle of limbs...

Rhi fell back, spent, her hair a damp tangle as she turned to look at Jay. She hooked a leg over his, pulling herself to him and kissed him, before laying back again, her breathing getting back to normal.

'Thanks..' she managed, looking up at the ceiling and grinning. Jay leaned in, kissing her on the shoulder.
'Anytime..' he replied.

'I needed that. It's been..a long time.'
Rhiannon turned, propping herself up with an elbow as she looked at him.
'Anytime huh?' she grinned at him, laying a hand on his hip.

'Whenever I'm 'up' for it.' he laughed, and Rhiannon giggled, leaning close;
'I'll take you at your word.'
She kissed him again, one last time and then pulled away, sitting up.

'Okay..I've been out long enough, and my mother, bless her, will be sending out search parties soon. I need to go..once I've found my clothes.'

She hopped off the bench, searching for her clothes and dressing before she headed home.

I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready

I am taffy stuck and tongue tied
Stutter shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready

I am fine
I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded and unfolded and unfolding
I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside

I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am fine
I am fine
I am fine

Rhiannon sat on her bed, legs folded, her body pressed up against the head board, staring at the small, shining circle of silver that lay on the quilt at the foot of her bed. It lay there, taunting her, a ring that held memories and painful recollections of when she thought that she was perfectly happy, that everything in her life had finally fallen into place. She could have sworn she'd gotten rid of the engagement ring, or lost it..or anything. But there it had been, she'd up-ended a drawer on her bed to sort out all the junk and as she'd picked up the last piece of scrap paper it had glinted at her. And ever since that moment, she'd been huddled on her bed, looking at it as if it were a species of poisonous spider.

She edged forwards, poking the quilt near to the ring, letting out a breath as the light caught the silver. She had to do something; and indeed logic was saying firmly that she should pick it up, find the nearest body of water and fling it into it. Her hand hovered over it, fingers shaking, her eyes rimmed with the tears she had thought she had shed enough of over the loss of the relationship. Rhiannon folded her hand around the band, clutching it so tightly that it was digging into her skin, but she didn't relax her grip. She slid of the bed, leaving her room, leaving her mother's house, not even pausing to put on shoes.

She barely registered the tickle of the grass under her bare feet, hadn't stopped when her mother who was out in the garden had spoken to her, and didn't even pause when she walked off the grass and onto gravel, the stones poking and cutting her feet. There was a steely determination on her face - for closure. She'd cried enough, and little surprises like this one only served to set her back.

At the bank of the river that cut through the land at the bottom of the hill down from where her mother's Japanese style house stood she stopped. She stretched out her arm, the closed fist around the ring only now relaxing and it span in the air as it dropped into the swiftly flowing water.

'I loved you Damien. I really did.' she spoke to the air, clutching her hands together as she did so.

'This is goodbye. Wherever you are. I hope. I hope you are well.'

Rhiannon turned on her heels, up towards Sayuri who had followed her down a way, letting her mother put her arm around her as they walked back to the house. There were no tears this time. She'd cried her last for him.

An unexpected journey (Aim log)

Quote:
Rhiannon padded along, barefoot as usual, the soft mud and moss underfoot pleasantly squelchy beneath her toes. She wriggled them as she walked along, sniffing at the fresh, early autumn air that permeated the woods. It was peaceful, no sounds she could hear but the ones she was making and the occasional bird call in alarm as she walked under the trees.
The area was treading through now seemed strangely familiar - or at least it was reminding her of something. Oh yes! This was where she nearly got barbecued by that trigger happy magic using mother. She smiled as she remembered the pair of cute babies the woman had with her; she wondered what had happened to them. If she and her children had managed to find their way back to the place the woman had called home. Of course that meant not seeing the babies again, which was disappointing, but she supposed if the mother was happier there it was for the best.

She trudged on, and then stopped, swearing under her breath as pain shot through her foot. Rhiannon squatted on the ground, looking at her sole, pulling out the sharp stone that had imbedded itself in the soft flesh. As she tossed the offending object away, and got to her feet again with a faint wince, movement..or something caught her eye. She walked over to a pair of trees, peering between the trunks that were blocking her view and let out an audible gasp. What the hell? It was weird, and she didn't quite believe her eyes, a strange thing, like an odd rippling mirror hanging in the air above the ground. As she got closer she could see that it wasn't reflecting anything that she could see - like she was looking at somewhere else. Rhiannon stepped forwards, not exactly knowing why, just driven by her curiosity. Closer and closer...and then she walked through the image, into disorientation, so much that when she landed on the other side she landed. On the floor in a heap.
Coughing she pushed herself upright...and just stared.

Quote:
It was business as usual in the city of Orgrimmar. Durotar's desert sun basked down on the streets that were lined with various ragtag denizens of the Horde that had stopped in between their travels to replenish their supplies and to sell and trade their various goods.

In some cases, for those such as Ayanne, it had been declared home. She had worried, in the months following their permanent departure from Dalaran, that Qwello may resent her for such barbaric accomodations in comparison to what he was used to. She had worried, also, that he might begin to fabricate ideas as to why it might be good for them to return....or even worse, only himself.

However, in expecting the worst, she'd had yet to recieve it. The days had gone on in mostly-eventless stride, the two of them gradually growing closer as the twins got all-too-quickly bigger.

Today it had been just hot enough to drive her from the roughly-hewn apartment the four of them called home in the Valley of Spirits and to the shore of the shallow lake that resided near the mystics' hut. For Ayanne it had been an opportunity to catch up on her reading while Sai'tasi accompanied Qwello to the Undercity to visit the Apothecarium.
For Mal'kyor, it was a splendid time to make as much noise and get as wet as was possible. With a small shrill warcry, the little boy lunged at the fleeting dark shape of a catfish that was attempting to take refuge in some reeds, failing to catch it, but making a magnificent splash in the meantime as he sat up in the belly-deep water giggling.
"FISS!!" he declared, pointing one finger in the direction it had gone.

"Mm." was Aya's response as she glanced up from her book momentarily to ensure he was not drowning himself before returning to her reading on the art of transmutation.

Quote:
Rhiannon looked around her, rubbing her head where she'd managed to bump that on her landing. She stayed near to the ground, crouching, her ears twitching. The air was warm, the sun hot. She was not in the woods anymore, that much she could tell. But where the hell was she? Where had that..thing she'd stepped through taken her? She stood slowly, catching the sight of water, and headed slowly towards it, looking nervously about her as she walked, trying to ignore the heat that radiated from the ground into her feet. Her tail twitched along with her nerves, the hairs on end as she edged nearer and nearer the small body of water.

Quote:
Ga-BLOOSH! Splosh! Splosh! Splish!

A fan of tepid water saturated Aya's robes, making her up, again, from her book. "Mal, joo wanna knock dat off?" she growled, making her son stop in his vain attempts to empty the lake on his own to look at her in the perfect picture of toddleresque innocense. 'Who me?' that look said.

It wasn't HIS fault his mother wouldn't know a good time if he reared up and bit her on the butt. And so, instead, to lighten the mood he smiled around the forming nubs of his tusks and offered her a handful of dripping weeds and tangled fishing line he'd found. To which, Ayanne sighed and laid aside her book to reach out and begin the process of detangling his fingers from it. She'd almost forgotten that one of the joys of having a whelp that was newly-mobile was the fact their hands seemed to attract everything they should NOT.

Quote:
Rhiannon got to the edge of the water without anything happening to her, and looked around the bank of the lake. She shuffled into the water, cooling her bare feet, giving the tiniest sigh of relief before visibly jumping at noises from a way down from where she was now crouched. She turned her head, dreading what creature..or creatures she might see and blinked. Then blinked again, rubbing at her eyes in case she was seeing things. Was it really that women she'd met in the woods all that time ago?
She got up, walking over, slowly as she remembered how they'd met the first time and when she was within hailing distance she called a soft hello, hoping that the women would remember her. From where she stood, she could now see the boy toddler and she smiled, happy to see him again despite still being faintly panicked at being wherever she was.

Quote:
One pointed ear keened to the sound of the greeting, making Ayanne turn her head in its direction. From the tone, she guessed it was elven. And from the fact it was unfamiliar, she guessed it was someone about to follow their 'hello' with a request to borrow money or to ask her to open them a portal to somewhere they were too lazy to go themselves.

Her eyes, already narrowing themselves in dislike, flew wide when they fixed on Rhiannon, however. Human...? How did she get beyond the guards? And furthermore, why was she stupid enough to approach someone in an enemy city once she had?

....no. No, not human, she corrected herself, seeing the bestial ears and tail. And the smell was wrong. The scent reminded her of the tail-end of her stay in the strange place she'd found herself in several months back came to mind. And how she and the infants had been approached by a strange creature as she'd traced the ley line back to its source. And the strange creature in question was now approaching them.

"Joo...." Aya muttered, her voice somewhere between being hushed and a growl as she paused in mid-fuss with the fishing line that adorned Mal's wrist. And then, the gravity of the situation seeming to sink in, she was on her feet. "Are joo crazy??" she hissed through her teeth. "Dey's gonna KILL joo iffin dey see joo here!"

Mal stared up at his mother in the face of her sudden shift of mood and then, turned his head in the direction Ayanne was looking. He blinked at Rhiannon, and then lit up.
Whether he remembered her or not was questionable as he'd been so young, but the fact remained it was someone out of the ordinary to visit with. The hand not currently hopelessly tangled shot up to wave at her with its pudgey three digits.

Quote:
She waved weakly back at the little boy, before dropping her hand and looking at the woman who she now remembered as being a troll..but she couldn't remember if she'd told Rhiannon her name.
'I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to be here,' she said, babbling a little in her fear, which had grown after the woman had spoken of being killed.
'There was this, I don't what it was, in the woods where we first met, and I walked into it.' she let out a breath.

'Am I..this is your home?' she asked, taking a moment to look around again.

Quote:
Ayanne felt a pang of unease at Mal'kyor's readiness to greet someone who was clearly unfamiliar when he was old enough to know better by now. An infant's curiousity was one thing, but having become big enough to properly smell, see, and get around, even the wiliest troll whelps knew better than to approach someone who smelled and looked differently from their family. If such an instinct hadn't been so strongly-ingrained in them, after all, the younger generations would have been consistantly wiped out by prowling jungle cats or roving ogres.

She blamed the elf blood in him. Stupid, social creatures with their ridiculously-blunted senses and seemingly-nonexistant will to live. There was fear, hot and thick, rolling off of the young woman now and part of her was gratified. Good. She SHOULD be afraid, blindly walking through a portal without knowing what might be on the other side of it. And if one of the patrolling grunts happened by here and saw her, she shouldn't do anything to intervene, she told herself.

....except then there would be questions. And if this one went on, in her fear, about how she knew Ayanne and her children, then there would be even MORE questions. The idea of spending her day in the chilly recesses of Thrall's audience chamber being interrogated about 'the invader from another world' didn't particularly sit well with Aya. And.....gods DAMN it.

Scooping up Mal in her arms, even as he reached for Rhiannon's tail, the fuming mage jerked her head slightly in a motion for Rhiannon to follow her as she padded briskly back in the direction of the building she called home. They would go where they were, at least, out from under the eyes of others.
