I'm not sure where this topic should be, so I put it in here. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. For those of you out there who know of ChronoTrigger, (It's an old snes rpg that came out, i believe, in '95). Has anyone besides myself noticed some of the similarities between the two games? And If you have, Give me a few examples, so i can see what i have missed.

I'm also an Snes Veteran. Chrono was among my favorite games bah, the sequal didn't really do it any justice. Well as for similarites All I can point out is both of ATB battle system. Both have number of characters you can swith on and off. And Both have epic stories lines. Hey At least I think they're epic. Both also have Two important characters that die.

Well, what about the Masamune? haven't you ever realized that? That's both the name of Sephiroth's sword and the name of the sword the frog needs to beat Magus in Chrono. Or the fact that both Magus and Sephiroth start bad, but at some point you have the opportunity to have them both in your party. What do you think of that? give me your oppinion.

The Masamune is a legendary sword in almost all games that its in, and its in a lot. And you can have almost every villain in your party through most games as well.

The only similarity I can think of is Lavos/Jenovas crashing into the planet.
Both games own though.

I've played both games, and love both games. There are a few similarities like Masamune that you mentioned, but there are a lot of differences. Don't get me wrong i can see a lot of the same aspects being used. The point that i would like to make is that Chrono Trigger is widely overlooked. They just remade it for DS so anyone who has'nt played it but enjoyed FF7 i recommend it. Thanks.

I've played both... and I don't really see much similarities between CT and FF7, beyond very generic stuff. CT is still an amazing game though, and I totally recommend it to anyone. Definitely be sure to look up how to get the various endings (there's approximately 10-15), because some are very funny.
Now on the other hand, you could discuss the similarities between FF6 and FF7 for ages. whee
