Sgt. Baker - This is the song that taught me almost everything I know about slap bass. It starts out very basic, the same line several times using normal two finger plucking. Then it trasitions into a slap line that is repeated througout the rest of the song. This line sounds AWESOME when played solo, and is relatively easy to learn. Taught me slap AND introduced me to Les' flamenco downstroke crazyness, using it on one bar alone - two downstrokes and a slide. Simple, but uses so many techniques... it's great.
Southbound Pachyderm - This song sounds really simplistic at first. But as I'm finding out while trying to learn it, the whole friggin' song is HAMMERED. There is a low A beat that stays consistent throughout, and that IS played with your right hand plucking, but the entire rest of the song is basicly left handed hammers, and is EXCELLENT for strengthening said hand. I've been playing it for the last 25 minutes, and it burns like the heat of a thousand suns to type this.
I just wanted to suggest some great songs that were REALLY versatile and have been great learning tools for me. Hope these can be of some use to you guys. This is a pirate that I've never seen before. pirate
