Background/Story

The year 2101 has seen the rise of a new technology, Cyborg implants that work in full conjunction with the human body. Fueling it, enhancing it, and in the words of some, completing it.

The world has become obsessed with these implants, giving them to everybody, poor or rich, weak or strong. The implants became a savior to some, rescuing them from illness and poverty, because now that they were cybernetic they had something to offer the world.

As the spread of these implants grew to the far reaches of the globe, a sort of religion grew up around them. People began worshiping technology. They abandoned their old gods in favor of something they could touch, they could feel. The Machine.

As the fanaticism grew, so did the power of those who led it. The Church of the Machine had over 3 billion members by 2125, a third of the world's population. They used their sheer numbers to overwhelm governments and religions across the globe, eventually controlling nearly every aspect of everyone's life. Ten years and 3 billion more members later the Church was the New World Order. Those last groups of humans who withstood getting implants were tracked down and either forced to comply or murdered. The Church of the Machine assimilated all human life into its ranks, controlling every aspect of life.

However, there are those that resisted, and lived.

A group of humans dug deep into the Earth's crust, using modern technology, but not implants, to build a shelter that would be safe and hidden from the Church of the Machine. They brought as many people as they could, the final count being, coincidentally, 1,776. They, appropriately, called themselves the Organic Underground Resistance.

The OUR believes that the fanatical following of the Church of the Machine is not because of the Church's beliefs, nor even its sheer power, but through mind control. The OUR believes that the implants influence the minds of those with them, and therefore strive to stay 100% clean of any of the "Corruption".

Instead of just surviving, however, the OUR has decided that something must be done or humanity is to face extinction at the hands of the Machines they so love. With little else to do, they decided to fight.

The OURE, Organic Underground Resistance Elite, were trained to become the best fighters the world had ever seen, appropriate for the world's darkest hour.

OURE soldiers were split into two squads, Alpha and Omega, each with 1 Captain and 4 soldiers. Because OUR was poor, however, they cannot use high technology to fight the Church of the Machine, instead using relics left over from the world before implants. Guns from the 20th and 21st centuries, and some even opting for weapons styled the same as those used in Earth's older ages, swords, bows, spears, and the like.

OURE occasionally rises and raids the upper world, but the time for small scale raids is over. They plan to strike at the heart of their enemy... They plan to topple the steel, they plan to stop the Church of the Machine.

Squad and Upper-World Information

As I said above, there are two squads, Alpha and Omega, each with 5 people, one being captain. All positions are first come, first serve, except Alpha Captain which is reserved for me.

Each squad member is equipped with an inter-squad radio so that they can communicate and receive orders from their Captain. When out in the Upper-World the squads are alone. Anyone save their squad members is considered corrupt, an enemy. For this reason the two squads never attack the same target at once because if they run into each other then there would be shooting.

Most people who have implants from the Church are not so guarded and robotic as to be protected from most weapons. However, there are Church Soldiers which are armored and take a few more hits.

The Church of the Machine has many small temples scattered across the land where the people go twice a week to worship their machines and their strange leader who gives speeches and "prophesies". There are actually four services a week, but the people take shifts going so that the world does not come to a halt during "religious" practice.

The temples themselves are not overly large targets, except during worship services, because then theres a lot of people there. The less people corrupted, the greater the OUR becomes.
