_Taylorsue_ fourtysecondscarf Aeariel well, they are smart. hermione herself said that the items in their joke shop were extraordinary feats of magick. in truth, the twins are, in their own feild of intrest, a sort of genius. they just werent appreciated much for it, because it wasnt what most would consider an appropraite venture exactly! being brainy with a sense of humor comes at a price....*sigh* but they are SO COOL! I know. They are. And maybe, the were so busy inventing things, they never did school work or anything. Exactly. I know that I'm an artist, and all my math and such take a back seat to my art when I have a project due. I always kindd of saw it like that, they did the joke stuff first because it was important to them

chibi_chan "Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they're really funny." - Ron, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. Chapter 6. Ron says this on the train to Harry during their first conversation. This means that J.K Rowling changed her mind. Since Ron scraped together more OWLs than the twins together if I remember correctly. I just found it a bit interesting. (Noticed it when I was listening to PS on the computer xd ) Ron could have been mistaken. The twins were smart, so, being a naive little firstie, Ron could've merely assumed that their marks were good.
After all, in OotP Ron told Malfoy that Prefects couldn't take points, and - when a fan asked JKR about it in an interview since Percy had taken points from Harry and Ron in PS/SS - JKR said, "Ron got it wrong."
Of course, as everyone else said, it's possible that as the twins aged and became more interested in inventing that their academic grades slipped.

I think that it's probably a combination of those things. I mean, it's not as though there's any real arguments against any of it. *cough* Join Dueling Club at the Haven *cough*
