I'm starting FoMT now xPP (my cousin gives me her GBA games xP)
anyways
how how how ...
1. how do you make money... (seeing how everything is so expensive... i was used to playing AWL)
2. (come up with later)
1. By selling things.
xd If you're starting out, here's some suggestions:
SAKURA'S TOP 10 MINERAL TOWN STARTER TIPS
1. Pick up all the items in the mountains and on the beach every day. This will help you
immensely.
3nodding In the beginning it's rough because you have to make several trips, but it's manageable. Ship
everything. (Unless you're going after Mary, in which case you may want to give some of the grasses to her.
wink )
2. As soon as you earn 3000G, invest in the 1st Rucksack upgrade.
3nodding You can buy it at the Supermarket. This will give you 4 spaces in your rucksack (so, including the space in your hands, that's 5 things you can carry total). If you'd rather buy the basket first and just run around with that (which is completely fine, too), then save up 5000G. The basket holds 30 items total and you can carry it around with you whereever you go and put shippable items into it. When you're done with your pickups or have filled your basket, take it to a shipping bin and dump your items into it.
3. In the beginning, you really only need to clear enough land to grow your crops. Worry about the rest of it later or when you have some free time (like on rainy days).
4. At first, you can really only grow about 4 squares of crops and still be able to water them without completely exhausting yourself (unless you're a Machiavelian like me, then you can try to grow 8 crop squares.
ninja I don't suggest this unless you're
very familiar with the game and how it works
3nodding ). The way you should plant is like so:
x=Tilled, planted square
o=unplanted, untilled square
xxx xxx
xxo oxx
xxx xxx
xxx xxx
xxo oxx
xxx xxx
To effectively manage your space, you should put one square of land between the squares in all directions. To plant seeds, stand on the center tilled square and use the item. Each bag of seeds contains 9 seeds, but you'll only be able to grow 8 until you upgrade your watering can.
5. In Spring, there are 4 types of crops you can grow: Turnips, Potatoes, and Cucumbers from the Supermarket and Cabbages from Won. Turnips take 5 days to grow, Potatoes take 8, Cucumbers take 10 but regrow every 5 days, and Cabbages take 15 days. You should definitely grow Turnips and Potatoes (because they will be your fast money makers), and you should grow one Cucumber patch. Whether or not you grow Cabbages in your first year is up to you. They cost 500G a bag, but they sell for 250G per crop.
heart 6. When your Cucumbers are ready for harvest,
DO NOT SHIP THEM. Pick one, water it's square, and take it up the mountain. After the first 4-way area, go straight ahead. Head up the path, and you'll come ot a pond area. Stand in front of the pond and throw the Cucumber in. The Kappa will appear and tell you to not come back. Ignore him.
xd Repeat this for ten days, only watering the Cucumber patches you've picked. On the 10th day, the Kappa will tell you you are annoying and will give you something if you'll go away and not come back.
xd He'll give you the Blue Power Berry, which decreases the amount of strength you lose when you work on rainy days.
3nodding 7. Everyday, throw a flower into the river near the waterfall. You'll know you did it right when you see the Harvest Goddess appear. Do this until she gives you a Power Berry.
3nodding 8. Before Spring is over, buy as many Pineapple seeds from Won as you can!! (No more than the amount of crop squares you have, though, okay?
wink ) Plant them on Day 1 of Summer before you go to the festival. These will take all season to grow, but in the end, they're worth 500G a piece and will be able to be harvested twice.
whee 9. As tempting as it will be, don't bet on the horse race.
sweatdrop You need that money, and it's not really worth it to gamble until you bet it all on yourself in the race and then kick butt. The only thing it would be worth it for would be if you have the basket and then use your medals to buy jewelry and sell those for 2000G a piece. That's all up to you if you want to do it or not, but I only suggest doing it if you have the basket because that's when it's most profitable. To be safe, save right before you enter the festival, and reload if you ever lose a bet.
10. If you find the time, start to make friends with the villagers, particularly the girl (or guy if you're playing MFoMT) you want to marry. It's not imperative that you do this right off the bat; unlike AWL, there's no pressure to get married within the first year. It might be better to get your farm set up first and get yourself rolling before you start to really pursue a spouse.
