I went for the Digitech BP200. It cost a pretty penny but it's the best pedal I've ever had a chance to work with. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/DigiTech-BP200-Bass-Modeling-Processor?sku=150162
On the plus side at the Digitech website they have a place where bassists can post the custom presets they've made, which is how I've gotten some of my favorite settings for playing.

I use a korg Guitarworks multi-effect pedal. Ya, its for guitar, but its pretty cool. I also got this amp http://www.line6.com/lowdown I got the LD300 Pro model. built in effects....its awsome..

i have a digitech bp80 and it was great at first but now the wah doesnt work and it shuts off randomly for no reason! it just makes me pissed!

I'm not a super big fan of multi-effect pedals, they can imitate many pedals, but none of them are as good as the pedals themselves. If you like an effect, I'd get the pedal that was made for it.

effects pedals? i have a little distortion on the amp but its all about how you jam the cords.
