How does your deck play?

Do you try to rush your opponent before s/he can get anything out to stop you? Do you try to stall your opponent until you can get out some powerful card? Do you try to ruin your opponent's strategies? Are you still playing with the starter deck like I am until you can get used to the play style? Do you do something else?

Right now there's something called a Lazy Peon Deck that I really am confused about. I don't know what it is or what's in it, but it's supposidly good.

There's two decks that I can't beat right now. The first one is a Radak Doombringer Rush Deck, in which I get killed way too often and way too fast with.

Next is a Paladin Exaust deck where my opponent takes Graccus and just overwhelms me with his allies. Oi.

:< And they won't tell me their secrets.

Lazy Peon is a form of tourney where all the decks have no rarity above uncommon (so no rare, or epic cards allowed).

My Paladin deck is a hero heavy deck. I use armor to slow down damage, and weapons to bash people in the head with. It is a slower deck, but about turn 4-5 I can dish out 8 - 10 damage a swing.

My Shaman deck (my favorite) is a control deck. I use shields to slow damage, and frostshock/chain lighting/lightning to thin down my opponents allies. Once the totems start hitting the table this turn my way. I use the lockdown combo of Piccolo + earth totem, and Cruel Hand of Timmy (or The Crusher) to help keep me in control (with windfury weapon my opponent loses 2 resources a turn to Timmy, or has to pay 4 resources to keep his weapon from being destroyed).

My Hunter (horde) deck is pure rush. Almost every ally in the deck has ferocity. The ones that don't are the one that gives all attacking allies + 1, and 2 of each of the guys that destroys weapons, and armor. I use the combo of Thrasher Blade + Ancient Bone Bow (You attack with Thrasher the first time in combat, and it readies both the weapon, and your allie. Then you attack 'em with you're bow, and that leaves you open to defend still with the readied dagger for a possible 3 attacks).

How similar is the strategy to MTG? I got awfully good at MTG and am wondering if some of the mechanix are similar.

ok, first of all, i'm going to assume everyone has a good knowledge of cards and what they do. otherwise, look them up using a program.
i use WoW Builder or MWS (there's a link in my thread)

to pertinent strats:

- Alliance Hunter Rush - use Apprentice Teep, Bloodclaw, and Latro Abiectus to quickly put out dps. mop up using Fury and Aimed Shot.
very good because of quick dps followed by quite a bit of card draw (The Defias Brotherhood, Parvink, Eagle Eye)

- Alliance Hunter Rapidfire - throws out Protectors early-mid game (Old Bones, Parvink) and removals (Arcane Shot, Multishot) while building up resources and looking for specific cards. wins with a massive turn dealing 25-30 damage using an Ancient Bone Bow + Edgemaster's Handguard + Skibi's Pendant + Rapid Fire. should you feel overwhelmed and can't kill your opp's hero, this can turn into a machine gun against non-Elusive Allies.

- Alliance Warlock - can adopt to the rush strat but loses Bloodclaw. i prefer playing it control with crazy card advantage. uses Life Tap, Steal Essence, Shadow Bolt, and Sarmoth early game to stabilize and wins via Infernal. almost all of your card will get you card advantage so that alone should overwhelm your opponent should you live past turn 5.

- Horde Shaman - uses Searing Totem and sometimes Earthbind Totem along with Protectors to mess up early game and then superior card quality will overwhelm the opponent in mid-late game. Chain Lightning has the amazing potential to 3:1 your opponent and you're free to choose your win condition (Masten Everspirit or Tewa Wildmane are good ones).

- Horde Combo Rogue - play fast guys (Voss Treebender, Elder Moorf, Jin'lak Nightfang) to deal hopefully 1/3 of your opp's hero and then mop up with a barrage of Backstabs/Sinister Strikes/Eviscerates. Premeditation can be used too find necessary piece and your dagger will greatly increase your dps. dagger choices include Barman Shanker, Heartseeker, and Fang of the Crystal Spider (i personally like Shanker the most).

- Alliance Poison Rogue - focuses more on getting a gear on your hero and then attaching Deadly Poison(s) and Crippling Poison(s) on the opposing hero. the Ally selection doesn't have to be as fast to rush as long as it provides good card quality (Kena Shadowbrand, Galahandra keeper of the Silent Grove, Parvink)

- Alliance Solodin - buffing your hero with all kinds of gears (Lionheart Helm, Deathdealer Breastplate, Destiny, etc.) while using Seal of Wisdom, Holy Light, and Blessing of Wisdom to continually fuel your hand. your allies aren't as important but using some ensures you have a win condition (Acolyte Demia, Braxxis, etc.)

of course, there are more strat but i just wanted to go over these today.

Are there any good cards that function well in the card drawing area?

Parvink, Parvink, Parvink... Every alliance deck should run 4 of these (unless if they have an unusual strategy).

For the cost of 3 resources, parvink comes out on the field as a 2 ATK, 2 Health Ally with Protector and lets you draw a card, this is a very useful card since she can protect while give you another card at the same time.

How hard is it to come by? How good do you think Randipan is? I like it because I always keep my opponents allies dead, so Randipan can swing through.

Goodluck to everyone who's participating in the Regionals. I'll post up my new Warlock Rush Deck after the regionals.
