DioRte No, Pop is anything that's popular, albeit it rock, country, metal, etc. Pop isn't really a genre as much as a brand labelling a band popular. I'm taking Music Appreciation right now and one of the first things we learned is genres, Pop included. Tool is popular. Yet they defy almost every convention of the pop genre. Apples in Stereo are pop-rock. They're not popular at all.

I haven't even heard of Apples in Stereo, so you're right in saying they're not popular, but they're probably Alternative Rock since you described them as Pop. Don't argue with me about what Pop is, argue with the musicians/authors who decided to define what Pop is and print it in text books.
