My freshmen year the guard (I'm a guardie) was practicing the band hall while the band freshmen were learning how to march. We were learning how to dance and I tripped over a trumpet case sprained my ankle and that's ankle messed up to this day (I have to were a boot cast) and I'm in my junior year.

Also this past marching season we were out practicing and it was a windy day like really windy at least 10 to 15 m/h winds and I threw the flag up into the air and it came back at me hit my nose and almost broke it.

My freshman year, our director decided to put a scatter drill for one of our charts, everyone was excited. while we were all running around aimlessly for 16 counts, a baritone player tripped in a hole on the field and fell, then a tuba fell, causing a domino effect on a tenor sax player, four trumpets, and a few clarinet players(thankfully i wasn't in it!). Our DM didn't notice the huge pile up until everyone started to scream "JACOB! WE'RE GONNA DIE!" the worst injury was the tenor sax player, who's ligature gave him a nasty cut on his neck, he had to get 4 stitches.

well our band camp is everyday for a week from 8 in the morning to 6 at night. That week just happened to be the hottest week of the entire summer, yep it was in the 90's everyday. alot of people had to sit out or risk fainting.

now this was during a football game, we were getting back into the satnds after 3rd quarter break and one of our flute players got hit in the head with a football from a field goal. good thing she was wearing her hat!

the one of the clarinets got her tooth knocked out this a guard move gone worng! yikes! she can't play clarinet anymore because of it!

Picture this, two a clock in the morning, and we're doing a buss evactuation. It's our first competition, and our snare is clumsy... now picture a two foot tall wall. Now get this, the snare is just walking like normal, and flam! Hits it and breaks his arm on the ground. Odd huh? We were late to the competition... so we had to play way after we were supposed to...

ok stuff that happened to me:

~;~at band camp i got shin-splits, which is where your shins swells up and it HURTS to WALK. so i sat out for one practice. i couldn't pull my toes up because it hurt that bad. and then i was complaining about the pain so after lunch, my friend carried me from the breakfast hall, over the bridge, to the building where the rooms are, up the stairs(imagine how scary that was on piggy-back) into our room, and onto my bed. I love her heart

~;~I almost passed out during one practice, but really, who hasn't?

~;~i went to deep river water park and messed up my foot in the wave pool, which by the way is DEADLY. so it hurt to walk/march/everything

~;~then i learned stages of being cold. first it's the "oh, it's cold" feeling. then it's the "OMG MY FINGERS ARE GOING TO NEED TO BE AMPUTATED" stage. then numb.......and then you get inside and it HURTS like a MOTHER.

injuries other people have had:

~;~this one flute, she got sun-poisoning at band camp. ouch

~:~during a SHOW, this one sax fell and his reed actually got stuck in his lip, so he kept marching and he was bleeding everywhere all over his instrument and stuff, and our director made him get off the field.

~;~my section leader has carpul-tunnel=D(spelling?)

~;~there's this one girl in my section(clarinets, woot!) who just attracts accidents. she's sprained her ankle many times, and then fell off a slide the wrong way and had a brace for pretty much the rest of the season.

~;~one of the suzas fainted after a show.

~:~a senior guard girl was hyper-ventilating when she found out we made finals at BOA Indianapolis.

~:~we were doing basics and this one trumpet walked off the field and threw up somewhere. and then he came back on and did more basics.

yup. injury-central=D lol

Once, my section leader was fooling around with me and was trying to wrestle me. When he first came, he had momentum, and him being rather fat, I backpedaled. Unfortunately, he stepped on my foot, and down I went onto some rocks in a parking lot. I got a lovely scar about 1 inch in diameter and nearly fainted walking the long way to the nearest bench. Oh yeah, I hit my head on the ground really hard, too. Memories fade when you just had the crap beat out of you by a hot parking lot.

This didn't happen at a band related event, but it still affected me band-wise.

We were playing red-rover during recess in my eithg grade year. The kid chose to run between me and the chick I was holding hands with. When she hit us, my body naturally tisted to the right. Unfortunatly, my leg didn't. I twisted my knee out of place and was unable to practice all week, (I missed the pizza party and shaving our director hair off) and was unable to march in the upcoming competition.

We got our highest score when I was on the sideline, thought. Must of been pity points. (Though I don't see, why, really, bacause I blocked the flute soloist and you couldn't hear her at all.)
