I joined an oekaki a while back, but I've never actually drawn on it. And for some reason, I decided to try it and see how I do, so I drew my avatar. Advice on drawing/coloring on any type of oekaki would be greatly apprieciated.

For the most part, a lot of stuff comes with practice. One thing that I did personally though (It actually came to me in a dream!) is find out if your oekaki has layers-- if it does, sketch out a vague outline on layer 0, then zoom in 2 times and on layer 1 draw your lineart over the sketch. Zooming in allows you a LOT more control and detail work.

When you're done with the lineart, go back to layer 0 and erase the sketch. Color on layer 1 turning on mask-- it basically lets you color without going over the black outline you created (I think it only works if your outlines are black though)

Since you did the whole picture on layer 1, you have layer 0 to do a background that won't interfere with the rest of the picture.

Wheela! I hope that helps. heart

Oekaki is a mystery that's always intimidated me too much to get into, but I'd be happy to go search-up some tutorials on the off-chance they can help.

Shipainter is great because of the tools it gives you to work with. Unfortuntately it isn't as cools as Shi Painter Pro which has four or five layers.

But you can do just as good work with two layers as you can with more.

When I do oekaki I sketch ont he bottom layer with a light shade of pink, with the watercolor2 brush at 8pixels.

Once I have my sketch I go to the top player, and messily lay down thick lineart with the water color 1 tool. pixel size around five.
Then I erase the sketch underneath and then color the background dark grey.

Then I put in my flat colors..Letsay the skintone. I do like a dark tan color, and then I take a light peachy color and using watercolor 2 at A68 and make all my highlights. Thats what I do for all lof the clothing and hair and whatnot.

Hope that helps a little. :d
