I believe they should be maintained.
They have been doing good work with breeding and re-establishing the Black footed Ferrets back into the wild. That's a species I really hope makes a comeback. 3nodding

Many zoos and individual probgrams are working to help keep up the populations of endangered/extinct in the wilderness animals, and I think that needs to continue.
Prewalski wild horses were extinct in the wild at one point, but breeding programs in captivity have been able to re-establish a population of them that is now doing pretty well in their native Mongolia. I've heard of such things being done with other animals, as well.

UPDATE: The white dolphin, a rare and almost blind dolphin in China, has just been announced extinct. A lajor expedition was run up the river they live in to find a group, but they found none. The finless porpoises of the same area were also in danger, only numbering 500 from the thousands that were there uears ago.

We have until spring, before they start logging the only home that exsists for the spirit bear. They too can go extinct without their beautiful home!! Many animals in the rain forest will parish! We as humans can protest to the premier Gordon Campbell!!! Stop them from logging in the spring!!!

People try, just sometimes, it's harder than others. Though I wish theywas other ways, unstoppable ways.

You know if cloning actually does work maybe they can clone them and bring them back from bones or other parts of their bodies.

horsephin_tomboy Have u heard of the Preswalki's wild horse? It's actually extinct in the wild and is just hanging on to life in captivity by a thread!!! crying I have a post about them up above. Actually, there are a few wild herds now that have been re-released into the wild from groups bred in captivity. They're making a comeback, and conservationists are working with local Mongolian nomads (who are reknowned for their horse skills) to help keep track of them and protect them.
It's not very many of them, but it's a start. There was a neat special on them on Animal Planet about a year ago.
