Deidara is pretty skilled at taijutsu, and he can use a few basic earth jutsu... thats all it says in his bio, at least. Excluding his art.
Also... he made the clone by just being that awesome... no logic needed.

ok ppl diedara useing clay, yes, but that's earth and he used another earth syled tecneck(sp) and besides....art is a bang ^^

he still had clay, but he was trying to get rid of kakshi, but before Deidara could, Kakashi cut off his other arm. now Deidara has no arms, and there for couldn't do anything but run!!!1
