Does anyone know the story of Thanksgiving?

I'm the non American here and I know more than you.

Facts:
1) The first Thanksgiving meal was held about a year after the first successful voyage across the Atlantic to the "Newfoundland".

2) The Native Northern American Indian Tribe that joined in the celebration meal is most likely long gone due to European lack of respect for the Natives who were clearly there first.

Speculation:
1) I believe these survivors were actually passengers on the "Mayflower" the first ship to cross the Northern Atlantic with Settlers. I'm not sure of this but it Majorly Fits.

2) The fact that the Thanksgiving is around Harvest time is partly because of the time the ship reached land. And also partly probably to do with the fact that it was actually harvest time when the Settlers had failed in the harvest and the Natives decided to pop round for a visit to the new Settlers. And so happened to provide some food. most well known is the Turkey. However it is only because it was the food that the Natives happened to bring.

3) I happen to know more about it than you who live there and have Thanksgiving. I didn't study that part of History much. But i guess schools over there have stopped teaching the real story behind it these day's.

Yes, there's the Mayflower thing.

Pie isn't from America, she just had Thanksgiving. (She's a Canadian.). She has Thanksgiving too. We're seeing if we celebrate it the same way. Yes there is the "reason" we celebrate Thanksgiving. And then there's the real reason we celebrate Thanksgiving.

and your third reason: yes we do learn that. We do the play. But that's not what we really celebrate anymore. We celebrate with families, friends and so forth. And tell God what we're thankful for and all that bullshit.

Now you, you cocky little b*****d. I don't care if you supposedly "know more than those who actually live here", big ******** whoop. You are notgoing to look down on us. You are not better just because you supposedly know more. Sure knowledge is power, but all it does is make you look like a little ******** p***k.

Oh, Teh Dana, you were oh so elequent. I'm so proud. And happy one of us could manage to come off so. ^_~

I was so angry and frustrated.... It just brings out the dumbass in me.

On another note, I saw too many dead moose today. It was so depressing. But I mean, yay for their family bonding, and I'm sure the people that got 'em are planning on eatinggs them. o.o And it's one less possible..hit-the-moose-on-the-highway. *trying to think positive*

Haha, And the real reason Canadians get Thanksgiving is 'cause it fits in to the time-line where we need a long weekend. *cackles* (It is to be noted that like, every two months we get that long weekend somewhere, or rather a holiday thrown in. Yay us.)
(*and it's not really the "real" reason. I'm just amused by the fact that we do get so many holidays.)

Tell me, how is that NOT supposed to be taken badly? How is that NOT intended as insult?

If you're genuine in the whole "I'm not trying to insult people" factor, then seriously, start thinking about what you're saying, and how it might come across to the people recieving it, and how, if you were in their shoes, you might take something like that.

It IS rude whether you intend it or not. =/

I had such a weird dream last night. My grampa was like, a 'secret' FBI agent or something, and he was like "Sarah, I need your help!" and we went-a hunting bad guys. So crazy.
