Avery hung out at the Adoption Center, hoping to see someone he knew. He'd lost touch with a lot of people he'd met, and he didn't like that at all. He'd even lost touch with... he let that thought go with a shake of his head. He didn't like being depressed, so he was seeking out someone fun.
But... for some reason, the center was oddly deserted today. He hadn't even seen that janitor with the one wing about. He was about ready to give up, but he decided for one more trek around the center. Then he'd try the park, or something.
"Man... Is anyone here?" he complained in a loud voice, scuffing his stockinged foot on the floor as he walked, and stretching his arms behind and above his head.

An orange head popped out from behind a lange pile of pillows, equally orange cat ears flicking slightly as he heard a slightly familiar voice. Kyou had come to the adoption center for a while to read because to put it simply, Ravings house was just too caotic. There were always screaming babies, hormonal teens, or hyperactive toddlers. It was simply just not the place to read.
He had already tried to read in the study, the attic and in the garden shed but everyone of those places were crowded, especially to his surprice the shed so he had finally resorted to leaving the house and wandering over to the adoption center. He sat in the middle of multipal pillows and had, in a lapse of character, fallen asleep. He looked up dopily to see Avery. "Urm...I am" he said trying to let on that he had not been asleep a few seconds earlier and drooling.

Avery, in his delight to actually find someone, didn't notice Kyou's just-woken state, and grinned as he walked over. He lowered his arms with a wave from one, and said, "Hey... Kyou, right? I remember you... uh..." he trailed off as he remembered, too, the circumstances of their last meeting. He hoped that nasty kid wouldn't show up again.
"So, whatcha doing?" he asked, and crouched down so he wasn't standing over the other boy.

Kyou sat up slightly to be level with Avery and waved back yawning again. He held up the book he was reading. It was the first "Artemis Fowl" book. "Eh I was just trying to find a quiet place to read. My family are extremly noisey and I just couldn't concentrate so I came here since it kinda seems abanoned lately. And you?" he asked looking up.

Avery drooped slightly, a bit disappointed. "Oh... you came here to get away? I came here to find someone to hang out with. I guess you'd wanna read your book, right?" he said, pointing at it.
He hadn't ever heard of that book, but then again, he wasn't much into reading about things when he could be out doing them. Or at least pretending to be doing them.

Kyou dropped the book. "Nah I'm kinda a bit bored of it at the moment!" he said yawning and getting up from his pillow fort, streching and yawning widly. "So what do you want to do?" he asked Avery. He enjoyed Averys company. He seemed to have a large imagionation and always came up with interesting games to play.

Avery grinned, then looked thoughtfully at the ceiling. "The weather's not to great out, so let's stay inside! I've been all over this place, and I bet you have, too, but hmm..."
He looked around. He remembered finding a costume closet in here once, or at least he thought it had been a costume closet, then. Now he thought it might have just been a storage room.
"Hey, I don't know if you know... but maybe you remember there being a costume or storage room somewhere? I remember dressing up as a pirate as a little kid... Colette was a princess, and I remember Syb was a dragon." He thought he should remember more than that, but he wasn't sure if Kyou had been one of the knights or not.

Kyou got up and streched and did another catty yawn. He had been more and more tired lately, mostly because of the bad weather. The weather always made him feel aweful, lazy and all together like crap.
"Oh yeah I know where it is. I think I remember anyway." he said thinking. He was sure he remembered where it was, him and Colette used it so much before her memory of him was erased, well most of it. He had gotten over that now, after weeks at home alone reading books and sulking slightly. Now he was over it all and a bit more mature because of it, maybe a bit more friendly.
"I think its in here" he said happily, opening a closet where a load of stuff feel out, princess outfits and all. He remembered this closet with happiness. "What do you want to play?" He said proudly.

Avery eyed it all, then knelt, pawing through the items, looking for something interesting.
"I dunno, but I'll know when I see something that looks interesting!" he declared, and set aside a couple items for further looking at later.
One of the items was a wooden walking stick that towered over his head, as it was made for an adult, and the other was a bright red cape that tied in the front with a gold cord. A little more searching found a box with some glass orbs that fit in the palms of his hands. An idea was beginning to form in the back of his head. Whether Kyou would like it or not was something else, but Avery didn't let that deter him.
After burrowing into the back of the closet and rummaging around so that it looked like the pile of clothes and stuff was alive, he popped back out with a triumphant grin.
"Look! A crown...ish... thing! It's cool!" he said, and plopped it on top of the red cape with no ceremony. However, with the finding of the crown, the idea that he'd been forming left his head entirely.
So, instead, he sat amidst the clothing, frowning at the items he'd laid out.
"Hmmm... Well, I dunno. They're all cool and stuff, but what could we do with them? Maybe if we could find another cloak... we could... uhm... hmm... Well, that looks like a wizard staff, kinda. And I don't know what to do with the big marble things... But if you have a crown, you have to be a king, right?" he looked at the other boy and grinned, wondering what the two of them would come up with with this stuff. Maybe Kyou had found something interesting himself!

Kyou knelt down beside him and starting sifting through the mounts of stuff, remembering the last time he had been playing with this sort of stuff. It had been such a long time since they had met up. It seemed as if everyone was slowly drifting away from each other. But those thoughts were to be left at the back of his head, to think o some other time when he was alone and not having fun with Avery.
Kyou looked around in the pile until he came up with something round and fluffly with a pair of round beige ears sticking out of it. He grinned.
"It looks quite a bit like a lion mane!" he said grinning and shoved it on his head and roared loudly. He then sifted through even more objects until he found a tail and a set of vampire fangs.
"I can be a vitious lion!" he said with delight. He didn't mind playing the bad guy when they were playing pretend. It seemed to suit him anyway. he always thought it did. But just playing pretend made it much more fun. And someone needed to play the bad guy every once in a while.

Avery laughed, enjoying Kyou's acting. He picked up the crown and held it out to Kyou.
"Oh, you wear the crown! Lions are kings, too! And... maybe you're under a spell? Maybe you really were a king, and I can be... a wizard that put you under the spell... but you need the orbs to break the spell?" he suggested, not realizing that Kyou had intended to be the bad guy.
He pulled on the cloak and picked up the staff. "I don't look very wizardly, yet, do I?" he asked, with a frown. He kicked aside some old shirts, looking for a hat or something that would make him look like a wizard.
"Oh, hey, I bet if I got a big ol' book from the library, I'd look like a wizard! But... then I can't carry the box with the big marbles," he said, realizing how much it would be to carry. He looked to Kyou, seeing what the other boy might think of.

Kyou took the crown grinning. "That certainly sounds interesting anyway! Sure okay I used to be a brilliant king and then I did something mean to you...or something and then you turned me into a lion then. Though I can't really see why that would be a bad thing. Lions are way cool!" he said laughing, putting on the mane and the crown on top of it. "And the orbs return me back to my original state or something like that!"
"Oh yeah if you got a big old looking book it would work really well!" he said grinning. He was really getting this game of make believe after so long just reading books and lying around the house doing nothing.

"Like in that story... ah... what was it... Beauty and the Beast!" Avery said, and then added, "Except no beauty. But we have the orbs instead, so that's okay."
He picked up the box of orbs, and said, "I'm going to go hide these, and then get a book. I'll be right back, promise!" before he ran off out, the door. He was stocking-footed and wearing a tank top, which didn't help the whole wizardly image, much. He'd definitely need a hat, he decided as he walked.
He paused for a moment, and thought about where he could hide the box.
Upstairs, definitely. Gotta be in a tower sort of place, if I'm a wizard, he thought, and trooped up the nearest staircase to an upstairs room that was unlocked. It was a bit dusty looking, and the furniture was covered in dust cloths, but that just made it more interesting.
He set aside his staff and looked around for a place to hide the orbs. "Okay... where should I... there! Awesome!" He found a shelf, but it was too high for him to reach, so he pulled over a chair and climbed up, kneeling on the back of it to place the box of orbs on the shelf.
As he scooted back down, though, his cape caught under his leg, and he tumbled down to the floor with a loud thunk that could be heard a few rooms away. With a small groan and a chuckle, the boy rolled over and shook his head. "Oof. I'm glad no one was here to hear that... Or I'd never get back in time. Now the book," he said, and climbed to his feet, retrieved his staff, and ran back downstairs, snagging a dictionary from the main room on his way.
"I got a book! It's a dictionary... but that's okay. It's even got fancy gold lettering," he said, and pointed at it.
"Whatcha been up to?" he asked, checking out the room to see if anything was different about it.
