OMG! West Side Story try-outs, how awesome. Except when you do something to hurt yourself. So I am a dancer... but I've been out of commission for about 5 years now. For some reason I thought I could handle the dancing that was needed for the audition for WSS but I ended up doing something to my left hip joint. Now whenever I walk it pops, but doesn't pop. It's extremely painful and makes working Peter Pan x5 more difficult. Should I be worried about this injury or should I just wait to see what happens? It's been two days now and I don't want to feel like I'm jumping the gun on this baby. While on the topic what injuries have you suffered from auditions and shows?
Oh, and no I did not make it into WSS thankfully otherwise I would have died.

hmm well.
i sprained my ankle a week before a choir concert my freshman year.
and i had surgery on my toes yesterday. luckily i did my dance auditions last week so those are done.
but i have my vocal auditions for the music man today.
woo go me.
and yeah, i can't walk very easily, and i have to wear sandals for at least a month or until i can get my feet comfortably into shoes again.
but yeah, you should TOTALLY get your hip checked out, because it could turn into something worse.
one of my friends dislocated her knee during rehersal one day and she had to wear a brace for like, two months or so.

I fell my freshmen year (not even in rehearsals but at my house) and being in rehearsals with it made things a million times worse. I didn't get it looked at thinking that it would be okay and now three years later it pops and clicks and if it's bumped the wrong way, I have to sit down right off cus it locks up and puts me in major pain. I can't even do some dance warm-ups any longer because it puts to much pressure on it and I can't stand the pain.
Aka... get it looked at ASAP! If something is wrong, get it corrected now before it's too late. I waited and now I'm knee might be messed up for life.

I was playing Harold Hill (as an understudy) in The Music Man, and at the end of the Shipoopi, Marion had to jump into my arms. Now she was a light, almost frail girl, but I am a small, wimpy, frail boy. And I had to hold her up in my arms for like...a full minute of applause. I've had back problems ever since.

I totally sprained my ankle at auditions for The Fantasticks a year or two ago, which highlighted the fact that I was the only person in the room that could not dance worth a single damn.
Pretty damn embarassing to fall on your a** and start crying in front of 50 people.

Derailing this train of thought completely, Agent Vii, does the Peter Pan in your show fly, and if so, did they bring in an outside person to do the rigging, and if so again, what is that person's name?
Just curious, if you know. Because my older brother's job is to make Peter Pan fly....wherever he may be. eek
