I think that seventh gate story is just that, a story (and not even a creepy one). I don't think for a MINUTE it's real. The mere fact that he reused a few of the same lines over and over and over is rather telling. It was thought out and geared to get the biggest reaction he could from his little tale.
Also, most intelligent people, upon encountering something like this, would do some independent research. However, if the writer had had one of his characters do that, it would have killed his storyline, because virtually none of what he says is accurate.
I will gladly pick it apart bit by bit if anyone wants me to. Otherwise ...
