I dont know how many of you know, but there was supposed to be another song in the film called No One Would Liaten. If you havent heard it here is a link:
No One Would Listen - Gerard Butler
Obsviously thi was made only for the film and I know this for many reasons:
1) If it had been in the stage version we'd all know about it and be wondering why it wasnt in the movie
2) It is to the tune of "Learn to be Lonley" which was made exclusively for the film.

Anyway, my questions to you are these:
1) Do you think this song should have been included in the film?
2) Do you even like the song?
3) (Major question!) Do any of you know where it go in the film? I dont think it was specified...I got the song off you tube and none of the people who posted it know. I know this is included in the two disk version, so maybe somone who has it with them can tell us.
If not were do you think it should go?
I have concluded the following:
- Its clearly before PoNR because his (white half) mask is still on.
- Also the dollhouse displays the PoNR scene, so it is before TEW since he burns it at the end of said song.
- From the nature of the song it is in the second act because Erik no longer has hopw that Christine will love him on her own.
- I concluded it is before WHaBB/TEW but am not sure at all

No, it shouldn't have been included in the film because it throws off the pacing of the musical and really, Erik doesn't need a wangsty song like that pretty much destroying what little dignity he has left. Besides, it doesn't fit in with the rest of the musical's style and would have further disrupted the continuity.

...Suffice to say, no, I didn't like the song. Webber should have written a song for Raoul instead of (another) one for the Phantom.

And as for where it goes in the musical, your guess is as good as mine. I suspect it could have gone just about anywhere, really. It's such a stand alone scene.

The song, to me, is musical castration. Webber's Phantom is so whiney and emo that it's hard to take him seriously sometimes. Giving him that "woe is me" song when he didn't even give the guy a sufficient disfigurement to be wangsty about, there's just no need. It's like he has no pride whatsoever or any blood dignity.

I'm glad it stayed out, personally. Another thing that could've stood to go was that swordfight. The Phantom losing? That's sad. At least with the stage version's fireballs he had one last moment of power before he crumbled into a diaper change-needing thumbsucker.

1) No. It doesn't look like it would fit ANYWHERE. It doesn't match any of the music and the scene looks pointless.
2) Yes, I like the song itself. I don't like the notion that it should be in Phantom. But it is a good song.
3) I have no idea. Anywhere they put it, it would look bad.

If not were do you think it should go? I have no idea where it goes but I believe it's after the Masquerade scene because it shows bits of his Red Death costume

I think it would have gone after Gerik sent Christine back up to the Opera house after Stranger than you Dreampt it and before PonR, isn't it? And it's not like the Red Death costume wasn't made before Masquerade. He probably didn't sew it that day...

[1) Do you think this song should have been included in the film?

Hell to the No

2) Do you even like the song?

I'm kind of conflicted. The lyrics are decent, and I don't really have a problem with Gerry's singing, but for some reason, I cringe when my little brother plays that song.

3) (Major question!) Do any of you know where it goes in the film?

According to the Film Companion book (yes I'm lame. Shut up.), it was suppose to be after 'Twisted Every Way'. I think it should've been before Notes, but I wouldn't want the song in there in the first place so... Poontang nuggets! whee
