Taking his own food and then a seat, as well as grabbing glasses of water and a variety of other drinks to bring to the table, Darin smiled encouragingly at Elijah. "I'm sorry-- this is awkward, isn't it?" the coon laughed quietly-- but not at Elijah. "I apologize for that. It seemed simple enough in my mind."
And truth be told, the coon should've thought of the possible nerves which would accompany sharing a meal. There were conversations which could arise which wouldn't be exactly... well, they might be awkward. Like why Darin avoided meat, why-- no. Don't think of that. Think of the here, now.

"No, its... it's fine," the fox murmured gently, brown eyes glancing down towards the ground guiltily at him being so nervous. It was just dinner, no matter how formal it seemed. Dinner with a friend--acquaintance--person, even if he did barely know the other. He just felt comfortable around him. Lifting a hand, he lightly rubbed behind one of his ears before sitting down, across from Darin.
Elijah felt awkward in general, and it was apparent how nervous he was. Taking a glass of water gently, the fox took a small drink before setting the glass down, taking a bite of his food. After chewing and swallowing, he smiled lightly towards Darin and reached up, lightly rubbing a brow. "I'm sorry that I'm being so... strange. I don't know why I'm nervous, I... just get like this sometimes when I'm afraid of messing anything up. But, it's all very lovely... Thank you, Darin. I appreciate this."
