A thread directory would be sorta redundant. People can see threads, and the number of replies already. The threads we endorse are stickied. As such, those are the only "Official" threads for any given game. That's why we don't have a directory.

People are free to create new threads about a game as long as it isn't sticky redundant, or breaking a rule listed by the stickies (and of course, the terms of service). We just encourage them to look for any pre-existing threads (using their own judgement) before posting a new one.

As for a "move this" sticky for the VgD?
Each section has it's own system of maintenance. A/M/C moderators do what they can to make it work for them, but there are still bad reports, and publicly airing of misplaced threads is less desirable than quietly moving misplaced threads, without humiliating the thread creator in the process.
I think that VGD moves a little too fast for people to just look. Yeah,we do have threads that hang out near the top, but we do always seem to get repeats no matter what. I think I've seen 10 Sims 2 threads in the past 2 days. People CAN look for the threads, but they dont.

*nods* 90% of the newbies are too lazy/ignorant to look past the first page, but only about 40% of them are too lazy to read a directory sticky.

Although making teh thread list might be effective I dont think it could be done... Theres way to many games to be stuck on one list. People could possibly submit their threads to teh list but teh odds of getting every single one would be slim. and theres a chance that some might be missed... and there would still be a problem. and if it was somehow accomplished do you think someone would really read through 100's of threads just to find if there's a thread already made for a game... The only thing that could really be done at this point would be to have seperate subforums; possibly for systems, genres or for gaming companys to cut down on teh amount of threads stuck in one place in teh VGD.

I don't see how it's humiliating. There are no comments, no flaming, no nothing. Just offering of links and mods taking care of it; no banter. If people have issues with their threads being moved, they can PM the mod who moved it. If someone trys to post a thread out of spite, then they can be dealt with for abusing the situation.

Maybe you guys dont want this in VGD but something needs to be done. I feel like I cant depend on the mods of VGD for anything in all frankness. There's no interativity between mods and users, no efficent ways to keep the forum going. Just sit back and hope things work out; even if you're unsure they will. There's been quite a number of times a thread has never been removed even if it should, and users have to hope and wait that it dies down the list.

Understandably, mods aren't superheroes and have lives of their own; but if the flow of the forum is too much for what mods we have; then somethnig should be done. VGD is a very standoffish place. I wish that would change. There's a lot of chaos and a lot of bitterness that comes from some areas at different times. Some days are worse than others; but that's not how it should be. Mods should want to be more part of the community and users should feel like they can depend on them.

This isnt toward any one mod in particular....but merely observations and comparisons. My faith in this forum is faltering, and I don't like it. All I ask is something constructive to happen.

We need change. I myself am afraid of change in general; but I know that without it, you can't move forward. And if you can't move forward, you stand still, since you can't go back.

I feel it's a bit paranoid for the Paladins to think that there's a Moderator that's paying more attention to the members in a group than a forum. of course, I know nothing at all because of recent events keeping me from being online and on Gaia actively... However, if it is true, then the Paladins can't really do much to go against it, except be good little Gaians and write their concerns to the higher up Moderators.

Because chances are, said Moderator who's letting power get to their head may have a higher authority than a bunch of Paladins and the last thing I think we'd all want is for the main Moderators to think we're paranoid of certain mods and start to disregard some of the things we say.

This whole situation should be treated lightly.

But whaddya I know sad

My topic got recycled because I said that Bungie is acting like their game is a gift from god. 3nodding
