how would one say "so and so said ... " with quotations? Or does Japanese on a normal basis not have : Jim said to Greg, "Boy today is hot!" or Jim Said,"It sure is hot!" : and just have speech in their text in contexts to who said it implied?

My teacher refuses to teach us what she thinks is 'above us' and I couldn't seem to figuire it out in my books. Thank you again ^.^
