The movie is based on lies.
Of course, houses can't influence people to kill.

Yes, because there are demonic forces like that.

Do you really believe that houses can kill people? Are stories like Rose Red and Amityville true?

I think there are supposed to be some demons in the house, right? They urged the guy to kill his family at 3:15 am, was it?

Well, the house was used for many evils.
I do believe that the house can kill people... Well >>
Actually I think that there are surton types of Devils in tyhe house, but I also believe that what gets to people is the emotions that have been left behind from the people in the past. Sort of like The Grudge.
I know that the house is open for tour for the public but seeing as I am native, I wouldn't want to spend the night there sweatdrop
It would make me feel very uncomfortable.

If humans can use the power of suggestion to sway a person's thoughts on something, doesn't that give us some indication that spirits can too?

Yeah, supposedly spirits can't hurt a person by themselves, that's why they possess someone to hurt other people.

I've heard that only spirits who died a hideous death can harm others.

I've heard that malevolent people can leave potentially violent ghosts behind. People who thrive on the infliction of harm and continue to seek that thrill after death. Unless these individuals had nasty ends on top of nasty attitudes, I think holding the will to injure someone can be added to the list. Personally, I believe it.

As for houses killing people...houses do hold energy. Some hold deposits of negative energy so strong it returns after it seems to have been gotten rid of for good. There are presences that feel seperate from the structure and those that seem embedded - then there are houses that have a negative presence all their own. I don't know how much physical interference this can cause but I know it can get inside your head and isn't that all it takes?

As a small child, I lived in a house which held a negative aura and violent past. I had nightmares of extreme violence but can not recall any physical threats posed by the structure. While part of the ceiling did fall down on top of me while I was in bed, I think that was just weak plaster. After we moved to the house next door and rented our previous residence out, the furnace did blow up without explanation but it was old. Hem hem...anyway. sweatdrop

I think the energy of a property can effect you in the same ways a person or object's energy can. Charms, amulets, magical tools and items like voodoo dolls or the hand of glory - what are these besides objects with power? Why shouldn't a structure housing negative power effect anything living in it? To me it sounds a bit like having someone - or a group of people, wishing you ill everyday, every time they see you. I believe that could kill a person, so I suppose, in my opinion, a house could too.
