I was at a friend's house this afternoon and we were gonna trade some Pokemon from our LeafGreen versions and I had my GBA SP in my bookbag for a while.....and I inserted my LeafGreen GamePak.

The GBA turned on as it normally does, with the word "Game Boy" on the screen but Nintendo wasnt below it.

After a few seconds the word "Nintendo" comes up at the bottom, but it's glowing a sorta silverish brown color.

Then it brought me to this language setting screen and asked me to choose a language, and then it said to choose a GamePak, but nothing was on the list.

Is this a malfunction or did I somehow reset my GBA SP?
(The thought that I reset my GBA SP was the first thing that came to my mind)

Ummm... it could be a glitch. My Ds menu screen wouldnt let me go anywhere once.

Unless that only happens with American SP...

Our GBA games normally come with a lanuage setting in it...but then again..how do games without the lanuage settings auto play games in English...

You might have gotten something inside of your SP, like in the sensors, which may have caused it to act up like that. Try blowing in it a couple of times to get rid of the dust etc... that may help.

Actually, I know exactly what happened. You must've turned it on, but you had the wireless adaptor attatched, but you didn't have the game inside. What then happened was that it used the wireless adaptor as a game, so it asked for a language to choose, and then it was searching for any other GBAs that had a wireless adaptor in, but was playing a game like one of the classic NES series, because then you can load it (like DS download play) and play the game on your GBA until you turn it off. This is actually a feature that Nintendo never announced and I only learned it because someone else sent a letter to a magazine I get about this exact same problem, and they basically said what I just told you. Simple.

And yes, it goes for GBA and GBASP.

If you look in Gamespot under Pokemon Leaf Green and go to the "videos" section, there's a demonstration on how the DS interacts with Pokemon Leaf Green differently.

I pulled that trick with my GBA SP and the wireless link adapter. it asked me for English or Japanese language settings. I checked, and assumed it to be a demo-load system for the GBA SP to work with games like the Advance Wars.

I have Fire Red so I've got some good points in. I need to get a Bulbasaur/Ivysaur/Venusaur to finish the Kanto starters collection.
