Growth Quest

Iris_virus

-The soft breeze arouses the two of you. How you ended up on that lonely island noone knows, but now that the two of you are there, you probably want off.. right? Your task is to get off the island and across the ocean.. eventually you'll find the door home, yeah? Your supplies, anything that you can find. It's your average deserted island with a rather inaverage supply of things cluttered about. You have no good cutting tools, but you do have other strange things littered about the island along with the normal trees, vines, sand and water. An abandoned unworking car (slightly rusty), cans of soda, a couch, a broken tv, some costume jewelry, a couple beachballs, a playstation (heaven only knows why), Acia's chemistry kit and a few blunt tools, some shoelaces, a lighter, tin cans, and a plastic yard gnome. Good luck! -

A soft breeze, joined by the dull crash of waves on a beach roused Acia from sleep. Her eyes flickered open, only to snap shut once more against the midmorning sun, a muttered protest escaping past her lips. Acia did not want to wake up, despite how lovely this day already proved to be. Stupid sunlight, and sky, and.... Wait.

The glider sat bolt upright, eyes snapping open to stare out across the seemingly endless expanse of blue stretched before her. An eerie feeling of deja vu crept over the glider, but she soon brushed it away; this was not last Halloween, and this was no midnight shore after an explosion. This was... Well, Acia didn't know where it was.

Climbing to her feet, the glider absently brushed sand from her fur, glancing up and down the shoreline. No civilization whatsoever. Peachy. However, bits and pieces of trash could be seen at random along the shore, meaning she couldn't be too far from anywhere...right? Right.

Controlling the wind was always easier near a beach, Acia mused as she took to the air. For one, the guests were already present, you simply had to harness them to wherever you might want to go. Hardly had she gone twenty feet that she was pulled from her thoughts by the sight of an all too familiar figure. Really, Acia wasn't sure how she could have missed her caretaker before.

Moo, still in her gown, though it was considerably worse for wear given the sand, was seated just beyond the farthest waves, staring off across the water in silence. She sighed and, on a whim, glanced up, blinking vaguely in confusion before flashing the glider a smile. "I know you! A...um... You! Where are we?"

"It's Acia," the glider patiently reminded her caretaker for the upteenth time that week. At least she hadn't started screaming about flying rats this time. Acia was most certainly not a rat. She missed the old Moo. "And I dunno, but I don't want to stay here and find out. We need to get home. But I don't know which way home is..."

"Maybe it's not really an island?" Moo piped up. With some difficulty, she climbed to her feet and shook her gown free of sand, frowning down at smudges undoubtably left by waves. They had been here for a while, that much was clear. "Maybe we've just turned up in the tropics? We could walk along the shore to--"

"Or I could just fly up and look around," Acia offered, rolling her eyes and taking to the air once more. Old Moo would have remembered that. This Moo, however, didn't seem so keen on the idea. At her worried expression, Acia muttered and alighted on her shoulder, gesturing vaguely down the beach. "We'll go that way, then... It couldn't hurt."

And they walked.

Growth Quest

...But not for long. After only an hour or two, the pair found themselves peering down at their own footprints. Both were silent, then, almost simultaniously, they turned their eyes towards the water. Endless blue. The sun was at its peak. "Guess it is an island, then," Moo finally mumbled, sighing.

"Then we'll just have to get off." Acia could easily fly away, but that would do no good. There was no way she could lift Moo too. Ana had been hard enough that one time... Of course, she had had much more practice since then, but Moo wasn't exactly built for flight. Not this kind, anyway. "We'll build a boat! Or a raft, or something. What do we have to work with?" she asked, turning cheerfully back to Moo.

Moo blinked.

Acia returned her stare for a moment, then, rolling her eyes, jumped from her caretaker's shoulder and took to the air once more, leading the way down the shore. "Come on, then, let's see what we can find..."

Another circle of the island, along with a search of what scant forest there was turned up the following items: An abandoned car, a couch, a broken TV, some jewelry, a couple of beachballs, a playstation, Acia's chemistry kit (Lord only knows how it got there), some dull tools, shoelaces, a lighter, full soda cans, old tin cans, various lengths of vine retrieved from the trees, and a plastic yard gnome. Acia frowned around at the absurd collection, absently scritching a hand through her hair. "Well, it's a start. Hmmm..."

And construction began. And ended almost immediately. The boat idea was useless; even with everything they had found, the best they would have managed would be to somehow make the car float, and that just wasn't possible. Not with Moo as she was and their lack of working tools, anyway. Acia briefly considered attempting to rebuild the car into some kind of plane, but that was a no go too. She wasn't big enough and, again, Moo was useless. Besides, there was no fuel. ...Unless. No, perhaps not.

The glider sighed and dropped onto the ground beside her chemistry kit, snapping it open and shuffling through the mess. Useless, useless, useless... Various chemicals, powders, vials, mini-scale, a the gloves Nayati had given her... Acia blinked and glanced up at a crash from nearby, frowning faintly to find that Moo had fallen through one of the weaker doors of the car and was now sprawled across the back seat. She rolled her eyes as her caretaker scrambled free, still clutching the broken car door. And then it clicked.

"THAT'S IT!" The glider snatched her gloves from the kit and jumped to her feet, pulling them on even as she darted for the car. Streaking past Moo, she ducked inside and alighted on the seat, practically shrieking with happiness. "It's leather! It's all leather--Moo, this is it!"

Moo watched inconfusion, still holding the car door, as Acia swoooped from the car to the couch, blinking vaguely at another cry of 'leather!'. And before she knew it, the glider was hovering in her face; Moo dropped the car door, stepping back.

Acia ignored her. "Alright, this is what we're going to do. See that lopsided hammer looking tool? Use it to get the seats out of the car. GO NOW. And don't break them!" she added, and was off again, this time to the lopsided hood of the car, squirming through a crack to tinker with the engine. This just had to work.

Growth Quest

It was only a matter of time before the glider's orders had been carried out. Both sets of car seats, as well as any other bit of leather interior now rested out near the couch and, upon Acia's orders, Moo was attempting to strip the leather from them. Using a sharp lid from one of the tin cans, she would severe the seams and, with some effort, pry the work the seat covers off as best she could without tearing them. It was irritating.

Through all this, she could hear Acia tinkering away in the engine and interior of the car. Ever so often the glider would shove a small part or length of wire from beneath the hood, as well as the occasional random bit that just happened to get in her way. But she was making progress.

Time passed far too slowly for Moo's liking but finally the car seats, the couch, and every bit and piece of extra whatnot had been stripped down, and was now lying flat out on the sand. Moo beamed. "I'm doooooone!"

There was a clank from beneath the hood, and Acia's head appeared through the crack. Wiping a streak of something from her cheek, she smiled her approval and nodded, gesturing down to the pile or wire and parts. "Good! Now, take that and use it to sew the metal together. Like a quilt." And again she vanished.

Moo frowned over at the pile of wires, searching for an excuse. "But...uh...I don't have a needle!" Scrabbling sounds. What looked like part of the speedometer came flying out from under the hood, shortly followed by Acia's voice. "That'll do. And reinforce everything with that fishing line in my chem kit, I don't want it tearing."

"I don't want it tearing," Moo mimiced silently, making a face. Muttering under her breath about being ordered around by a rodent, she stalked over to the car and snatched up a bundle of wires and the speedometer piece, returning to the pieces or leather and beginning to arrange them in something that at least remotely resembled a rectangle. This done, she grabbed one of the longer lengths of wire and managed to 'thread' it onto the piece. Flopping onto the sand, she began to sew.

Time passed slowly. Every so often Acia would emerge to check on progress or drop a new piece on the ground, but finally vanished altogether, only the occasional sound coming from beneath the car hood. Moo continued to 'sew' the wire into the leather, muttering all the while, but making progress nonetheless. However, the day was late; the sun was setting.

Emerging from beneath the hood, Acia yawned and glanced around, nodding approvingly. They had gotten a lot done... But they wouldn't finish before the sun would set. Acia had anticipated this and, for the past while, had been working on a solution. Now the glider darted down from the car to the pile of soda cans, eyeing them thoughtfully for a moment before glancing over to Moo. "Take a break and come carry some of these for me. Just go drop 'em under the hood, but don't let them pop or anything." Without another word, the walked over to her chem kit, picked it up, and returned to the car.

Moo frowned, but did as instructed, transferring the majority of the can to the car until Acia told her there was no more room. This done, she accepted the glider's offer of a 'break' and sunk down to sit on the sand, reaching for one of the cans for herself and popping it open. It wasn't a brand Moo had heard of before, but it didn't seem old, and she was thirsty. Good stuff.

Yawning, Moo lounged back against what was left of the couch, occasionally sipping at her drink (it tasted faintly of orange soda) and watching as the sun sank beneath the waves. End of the work day.

"Let there be light!" Came a shout from beneath the car's hood, accompanied by an odd hissing noise, and instantly the area was lit up once more as the car's headlights came to life. Acia shot up from the darkness, grinning ear to ear, and wiped her hands clean before clasping them behind her back. And that was what chemistry did for you. Chemistry and old soda. The glider was off the wall. "We'll get off of this island tonight! Come on, come on, back to work now." And, abandoning the car, she dove for the Playstation and began tearing it apart for the wires it hid. She had cleaned out the car by now.

Groaning, Moo downed the rest of her drink and returned to the half-completed 'quilt'. Damned flying rat.

Growth Quest

"Done!" Moo practically squealed, throwing down the speedometer piece and falling back to lay on the sand. She was absolutely exhausted. Hours had passed since the sun had set and, though Acia had joined with a 'needle' or her own, it had taken them quite a while to wire and fishing-line their leather quilt. but now it was done. And now they could sleep.

"We can sleep now," Acia murmured, echoing Moo's thoughts. However, she continued, "I don't want to waste the lights in case we need them again. We'll wake up and dawn and be done before noon tomorrow! Just watch.." Murmuring plans under her breath, the glider returned to the car and the lights soon flickered out. By the time she climbed free, Moo had curled up on the remains of the couch and was fast asleep.

Smiling faintly to herself, Acia started for one of the torn up car seats then, deciding against it, changed directions to alight on the couch beside Moo. Yawning, she dropped down and snuggled up against her guardian, looping her tail around for a blanket against the night breeze. As quickly as her caretaker had, she slipped off to sleep. Stars twinkled overhead.

-----------

The rising sun awoke Acia who, in turn, awoke Moo. Despite the short rest, both were feeling very much refreshed, and returned to their task with a will. There was no food on the island. Hunger was excellent motivation. Old orange soda was no substitute for a good breakfast.

On Acia's instruction, they punctured holes in the four corners of the 'quilt' and Moo looped the vine's through, tying the ends tightly with a variety of fancy knots Acia had never seen before. (At least loony Moo was good for something.) To the end of the vines, they attatched one of the cushions, looping the vines beneath it to make a seat, and looping another few vines around horizontally to secure it in place. In this manner they constructed what resembled a parachute--or, more correctly, a parasail. With nothing to pull it.

Nonetheless, Acia was more than pleased with the result. After double checking everything, she could find nothing further to work on, and simply nodded, sighing deeply. "I sure hope this works.... Okay, Moo! Grab my kit and come here."

Soon everything was in place. The leather sail was hooked up on a tree branch, the ropes stretched out ready, and Moo stood at the end, Acia's kit tucked under one arm, holding the 'seat' up beneath her. Acia alighteed on her shoulder, took a deep breath, and summoned a gust.

Immediately the sail filled with air, billowing out and unhooking from the tree in the process. It rose, the vines straightening and going taunt when the 'seat' caught Moo's weight. There was a brief moment where nothing happened, and then another gust joined the first; the parasail shot upward, lifting both of its passengers with it. Moo shrieked, Acia cheered.

And felt an immediate drain on her strength. Moo was -heavy-. Nonetheless, the natural winds of the area meant Acia could control the currents with much less effort than she would have had to elsewhere, and thus the effect was much greater--they were flying. Sighing in relief, Acia sunk down to sit on Moo's shoulder, gaze wandering the sky for a moment before she decided on a direction and pointed. "We're going that way. I don't know why, but that's where we need to go."

Moo was too astonished to reply. Taking her silence for an agreement, Acia angled the winds, gave them a boost, and off they went, gliding out over the ocean at a fair pace. Travel was all but silent; Moo was clinging onto the vines for dear life, and Acia was too concerned with keeping them in the air to bother much. And so the day passed.

-----------

Moo was half asleep. Endless stretches of blue as far as the eye could see, one shade for sea, one for sky. Had it not been for the constant breeze, she would have sworn they weren't moving; that, and the island had long since vanished into the distance. Yawning, she blinked twice and glanced sideways to Acia, who seemed to have fallen into some sort of stupor.

The glider was clearly still awake--they hadn't fallen, after all--but very, very tired by this time, eyes staring blearily ahead. Endless oceans. Acia sighed, snapping from her daze just enough to rub at her eyes. She never wanted to see even a glass of water again in her life... Though she was very thirsty. Hmm.

At a soft yelp from Moo, she let her hands fall, glancing curiously down at her caretaker before returning her eyes forward. The glider jumped visable in shock and, automatically, shifted the winds to hold them in place, rather than pushing them forward. There, barely a foot infront of them, floated a solid wooden door. Where it had come from, neither had any idea, but it was undoubtably there.

For a moment both were still, silent. But a nudge from Acia spurred Moo into action and, reaching forward, she closed her hand on the knob, twisting it and tugging. The door swung open with a soft click, and both forms blinked through at what looked like the hallway of the Velveteen Toyshop. Moo hesitated, then tossed the chemistry kit through; it landed safely on the floor, sliding to bump against the opposite wall. That was good enough.

Shifting on her seat, Moo managed to set her feet on the floor, and a final boost of air from Acia sent the woman stumbling into the hallway. She turned to reach for the parasail, but it had vanished; all that was left was an empty room. A soft sigh from her shoulder; Moo reacted just quickly enough to catch Acia, smiling weakly down at the glider, who was now sleeping peacefully. Bending, Moo retrieved the chemistry kit and started for the door, and from there, home. Job well done.

I've grown! I...wow, definitely didn't expect that at all. It's been a long time, sure, but... Am I the first? I doubt it, of course, but I don't know. I haven't seen Erae or Sid or Nayati or Ana in so long and they all grew before me last time--or, Sid grew with me, but you know what I mean.

I really need to find...everyone. See if they've changed at all. It's been so long... But I'm so busy now!

There's so much that I can do now that I'm older. I never realized my limitations back when I was a 'child', but now they're startlingly obvious. There's so much I haven't learned, so much potential that hasn't been fulfilled. I'm turning back to my sciences, enforcing my chemistry especially, though I'm expanding more into biology and, however reluctantly, physics.

I don't like physics. The basics are really common sense in mathmatical forms, but I haven't learned enough of said forms to move on to the more complex stuff. Nor math, for that matter. I hate math. But it's necessary, especially if I want to expand my inventing along with my sciences. Putting stuff together is one thing, making it actually work is quite another.

So schooling is taking up a lot of my time now. And most break times are reserved for gymnastics. Have to keep in shape, after all, and I'm stronger now tha I've grown, so I can do more complex routines. Having shorter fur helps, too.

Oh yes, physical changes. Well, I'm a bit taller, but not much. I think I'm about the same height that Erae was when he was a child--assuming he's grown too. So, about eleven inches. My furr's much, much shorter, almost like touching a velvet cloth rather than all long and silky like it used to be.

Short fur also...umm..makes clothing necessary, but its not so bad. Tia took me shopping and now I've got a small wardrobe of my own. Continuing, my air's not as bushy as it was, but I like i better this way, and I'm, um...well, yes, I'm growing up.

And enough of this talking. I have to get back to work. Buh-bye, log.

How cool was this.

Today had been an eventful one for Acia, to say the least. As if the previous day's adventure hadn't been enough, Acia had awoken to find herself taller, and stronger and...well, her figure was pretty damn nice too, if she could say so. It didn't take long to figure out what had happened: A growth quest. Hot dog.

Tia had loaned her some clothes, and the pair had spent most of the morning shopping. Acia's now-shorter fur made her feel extremely uncomfortable with nothing over it, and her and her sister's tastes differed to the point where shopping had to be done immediately. That frilly blue dress had just been awkward. Acia was glad she hadn't run into anyone she knew.

Shunning style, the glider had splurged (with Moo's money) and purchased herself an entirely new wardrobe of mix and matched clothes from some tiny-person store Tia had managed to find. A bti of 'harmless' alterations on a pair of blue jeans, and Acia was perfetly comfortable and happy as a clam, despite repeated shouts from her sister that she looked as if she had crawled out of a garage.

Acia liked garages. She took it as a compliment.

To escape from Tia's fashion sense, the glider had retreated to the shop in the hopes that she might run into one of her old friends. An hour or two later, she was still alone. Not that she minded much. The glider had tossed her pilot's jacket into a corner and was taking advantage of the store's emptiness to practice her gymnastics routines. It was a bit harder now that she was bigger, but she didn't mind. It was beginning to be dull before.

Willow walked along looking like she'd been treated just horrible still not understanding that LP just wanted to help. Seeing as how Willow's ghost pals were there with her she decided to run off to the shop by herself. She seemed to have been crying wiping the remianing mascar off she had put on just an hour before she found herself at the shop with a small bag of her belongs. She had decided to run away from home. She had her tarot cars, some of her small books and her ghost friends they were the only ones that seem to understand her. She noticed by a cool tap on her shoulder looking towards the tap she noticed the velveteen shop, the door opened and she wondered inside with a sigh. She looked around the shop and dropped her bag beside the door and leaned, as if she was LP on the door casing looking around the shop. "Why does no one understand me?" She looked beside her clearly there was someone there.

Acia was midway through a series of handsprings when the door swung open. Wrapping it up with a cartwheel, she landed gracefully and spun to face the doorway, absently brushing her hair our of hre face and quirking a brow at the new arrival. She looked familiar, somehow... But Acia couldn't exactly place it. Hearing the 'question', she replied, "Maybe you don't speak clearly enough."

And then it clicked. "Willow!" Grinning, the glider waved in greeting, quickly closing the distance between herself and the tiger. "You grew! Congrats! Wow, it's been ages... How've you been?"

Willow looked at the girl for a second before she relized who it was "ACIA!!! Am I so glad to see you. Oh... I didn't know you were here, I was talking to my friend." She held a paw over beside her.

"Yes I have grown." She shurged at the last one not sure how to asnwer it. "How 'bout yourself?" Her tail flickered softly side to side.

"Your...friend." Acia blinked at what seemed to be empty space, but smiled, nodding politely nonetheless. Might as well humor Willow. Returning her eyes to Willow, she grinning and nodded, spinning a quick circle. "Just last night! It was the most exhausting of quests, I tell you, especially with Moo out of her mind and all. The old one would have been much more helpful.... But we managed," she finished cheerfully. "And this morning I bought clothes!"

Willow watched as her bag floated up into the air. "See I'm not crazy... I can talk to ghosts. This one is one of my best friends outside of the velvets. He understands me, and how I want to learn." She stated simply. Tail flickered again smiling, "Ahhh really! Me and Trea had our quest together, t'was in a carnival." Watching Acia she giggled a little happy to be away from LP whom kept trying to stop her. "Oh dear what happened to the old moo?" She asked slightly worried, "Maybe can contact her by using my power??" Willow offered as a solution.

A ghost!? Acia's mouth literally dropped open as the bag rose in the air. There really was a ghost? And Willow could talk to it? Er, him, she had said? ...Well, alright then. There were weirder things on Gaia. "Oh, I see. It's nice to met you, um... Ghost." Willow hadn't introduced him. That would have to do. "Trea, she's the mouse, right? I've only met her once, I think... That does sound like fun. I've never been to a carnival." Acia didn't get out often.

Pausing, she tried to decide how to explain, considering Willow's offer. However, after a moment she shook her head, shrugging. "Moo just lost her mind. I'm not sure you could talk to her, because she's still, well..here, she just thinks she's someone else. I'm getting used to it, actually. It's been a couple of months now, and she's not quite as set in the past. Pod and I think she's finally getting better." That, at least, was something good to note. Acia smiled.

"I don't think he really has a name..." Willow said watching her friend play with her bag taking out things. "Or he doesn't remember it or wont' tell me. I just call him teach because he was a teacher." She smiled. "Ahh this carnival wasn't too great we were stuck in the house of mirrors. With two ghosts a really nice girl I want to try and get back to see and her brother who was a holy terror." Willow finished in a non-cholant way.

"I wish LP would lose her memory maybe then she wouldn't yell at me for learning the way I do...." She blinked, "Wait does moo have... oh what's it called... amkneesha?" She said prounceing the word funny wrikleing her nose. Those medical trems and some other really big words were hard to say.

"Teach will do." Nodding, Acia smiled in the general direction of the ghost, or, rather, where various items were floating out of the bag. "Everyone needs a name." Life was just easier that way. Besides, it didn't seem right to call anyone 'him' or 'her' or 'it' all the time. That made them seem less...real, almost. "Huh. You'd think ghosts could find their way out of somewhere pretty easily..." Out of a building, anyway. Acia doubted a ghost would have been much help for her own quest.

"Amnesia," she supplied absently. Acia knew all too well of amnesia. Shortly after Moo had lost it, Isto had explained the who concept of amnesia to her and, using various tactics, they had attempted to bring Moo's memory back. It hadn't worked. "And I'm honestly not sure. See, for amnesia, people basically forget...well, everything. Who they are, who others are, etc. Moo can't remember anyone, but it's like.. It's like her memories have completely changed. She thinks she's someone else, and she even acts differently. It's odd."

Willow thought for a bit nodding and agreeing when Acia said names made life easier. She lofted a brow at a suggestion offered from teach. "Teach said maybe she's been possessed? I mean it could be possible couldn't it?" Thinking about the memories ahving changed and everything willows eyes flickered. "Did she come home like that one day or did it happen over night?" The question seemed logical enough and she had seen something on TV once she thought might explain something.

"That is a possibility," Acia admitted, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "There are spirits in the House, and one of my brothers has been possessed before... But she still knows Pod, and she knew him before she changed." The glider paused, staring past Willow towards the door, then, sighing, turned and started for the corner to retrieve her jacket. "There was an accident in the lab... She and I were working on something. She wouldn't tell me what it was, just gave me the formula and told me what to do. Was a very complicated formula, I remember... Pod came in, they argued, and sometime during that Moo slipped up. It exploded, we were all knocked out for a bit, and when we came to Moo had lost it. It sounds like amnesia, but.." Shaking her head, the glider sighed and picked up her jacket, slinging it over one shoulder and shrugging. "She's not Moo anymore."

Willow thought about this, mystery chemical, pod, and explosions. Willow sat down her legs under her as teach brought her bag too her she started shifting thru some things. "Maybe she remebers Pod because she was talking to him..." She was looking for something not knowing what it was but would know when she found it. "Have you tried redoing the accident? Maybe if you recreate it she'll be back to normal." She was trying to find an answer... maybe the real moo was a spirit now and the one that was in moos body had known pod before and had gotten switched up. This was all confusing. "If my powers were a little better tuned I could help you I know I could... but I'm just not to that level yet, but maybe we could conduct a sayance or maybe the tarot cards would give us answers." She said thoughtfully in thruth never having done a sayance reather badly would love to try it, after seeing it in the movies she watched.

Acia shook her head. "I haven't tried, no. I don't have the formula anymore, and I don't know what it was, so I can't look it up." Besides, Moo had done most of the work that day, and Acia doubted she could accomplish it on her own. It had been very, very tricky. And another explosion could easily do the same to her as had happened to Moo, couldn't it? "I think.. Well, something tells me this is going to have to fix itself, but at the same time, I know there's a better solution out there. Something keeps nudging me towards amnesia, but that doesn't make sense, because, according to her, her name's not even Moo--it's Saoni. And Pod agrees with her. He says Moo was a nickname..."

Trailing off, she frowned faintly, then blinked, fixing her gaze on Willow once more. "Actually, now that I think about it, it does seem like amnesia. Pod knows Saoni from somewhere, meaning she's been here before. Perhaps this was Moo early on? Before she started adopting people..? And then for some reason she dropped that life style, took on a new name, and..." The glider shrugged, eyes clouding over in thought. "Hmm.." Very interesting indeed.

Willow was thinking before her eyes lit up. "Acia do you think if you saw it again... the list or the thing you was making... do you think you'd know it?" She didn't know if this was sure fired but it was possible LP might have it stashed in all that junk she has."

"I just remembered back at the 'house' there's loads of potions and sorts of liquids maybe there's one of them? I think LP said they were from way back in the day." Her ears flickered as she looked around the shop. "I don't know what any of them do but I'm sure LP knows atleast some of them."

She just hoped that if LP had done fall cleaning it hadn't been of those if it was possible to help acia. She pondered "Saoni? Well if it was moo's old name I can see why she changed, who in their right name would name their child that?"

Acia was silent for a moment, thinking, but soon she nodded, however hesitantly. "I think so. It was complicated, but most of the chemicals were rare. We don't use them for much, so seeing them all together was strange... Aye, I'm sure I'd recognize it." She nodded, attempting to remember back to the day of the accident. Her own memory was somewhat fuzzy--she had experienced a brief wave of amnesia herself, but it had passed. Still, it shouldn't be too difficult to at least recognize... "It'd be worth a try, I suppose. There's a good chance we won't find anything, though. We don't know what we're looking for." They couldn't even narrow it down to purpose.

Blinking, Acia quirked a brow at Willow, then, laughing, shrugged on her jacket. "What you should be asking is who in their right mind would name their child 'Moo'."

Willow smiled, "Well we all know LP is collecter of the strange and abnormal. So she might have it. We have atleast a 50/50 chance of finding it or a list of things for it..." She yawned softly.

"I think moo is a much better name. Sounds more normal too. I mean after all don't cows moo?" she smiled at her own silliness. Before looking at acia's jacket. "Nice jacket by the way, where'd you find it?" She thought she could use a few more outfits in a smilar style to the one she was wearing atleast in different mellowed out colors.

"Again, it's worth a try..." Acia smiled, nodding, but then sighed. "However, it may have to wait until another day. I should head home soon. Tia's decided today's the day to start redoing our room, and if I'm not there she'll turn it pink or something." The glider made a face at the thought.

"Despite how much she eats, Moo is not a cow." She flashed a cheeky grin, then glanced down to her jacket, absently holding it open. "Thanks! I just got it this morning. There's some store downtown, I forgot what it's called... Anywho, with all the, er, short people on Gaia, they've opened this store so those people can actually find clothes. It's almost like a doll shop, but the clothes are much better quality, and actually fit right. Tia shops there, and this morning she dragged me down. I'll ask her for the name later."

Willow nodded. "I think I'll stay around here for a while. I don't want to go back home to LP she's tried to... ummm what do they call it... grounding? She tried to do that to me... stop me from learning from teach."

Chuckling Willow shook her head, "No your right about that but it's a funny cow sound! And funny cow sounds make for good names." She stated. "Thanks, Maybe they have halloween costumes I know it's awful close to hallows... and My brithday is like the....." she paused looking around for a clander. "Ohhh yes LP said she got me the 8th."

She yawned murring softly, "Well I suppose I'll see you later if you have to leave."

"I've never been grounded," Acia mused, more to herself than to Willow. "I think it's a stupid theory, anyway. I mean, I spend most time at home anyway, in my room or lab, or in the backyard. Why would it both me to stay there for a few days?" Actually, Moo hadn't ever grounded anyone in Acia's memory, and the glider seriously doubted she would ground anyone anytime soon, as loony as she was. Oh well, that was a good thing, right?

"Halloween!" Wooow, had it really been so long? Acia could remember last Halloween...with the zombies and the exploding mansion, and hanging out with Plushie!Willow and Erae. Good times, good times. Sort of, anyway. "I was a shoulder angel last Halloween, because Corr was a shoulder demon. I'll have to make something better this year..."

That would be her project for the next few weeks. A -good-, unique Halloween costume. Now what to be.... Startled from her thoughts, she blinked, then laughed, flashing a grin. "Well, happy almost...um...I'm not sure if it counts as a birthday, but if it does, Happy Birthday!"

Well, she hadn't been here for a while.

Acia smiled fondly up at the shop before her, then, catching a passing gust, redirected it to blow open the door. A flurry of snowflakes escorted her through the doorway, each melting almost immediately as the door swung shut behind her. It was much warmer inside than yout, for which Acia was grateful. She had never been fond of the cold--something to do with sugar gliders being tropical creatures, she imagined.

Shivering slightly despite the shop's warmth, Acia peeled off her half-soaked pilot's jacket, folding it over one arm. She would hang it up to dry if she could find anywhere small enough. Warm and comfortable once more, Acia set about explofing the shop for changes--or any guests who might be there. "Hellooooo? Is anyone here?"

-From within the depths of the backroom, Nayati's ears flicked gently, picking up the soft call. He himself had only arrived there a bit earlier, and after quite a strange with the door, it seems plants don't react and behave quite so well in the cold, had settled himself into one of the dusty old nooks, bringing out his things to work.

The voice seemed familar though, she he tucked the small beginnings of a basket beneath on arm, and made his way out towards the storefront, shielding his eyes at first from the bright glow.

Peeking around the corner of the counter he surveyed the shop. If it was a customer, he wasn't much in the mood for dealing with that. But as the strangely familar little female came into view a soft smile touched his muzzle and he called out, in a voice more gruff then he'd likely ever get used to.- "Hello Acia."

The voice was unfamiliar to Acia, but it did know her name, so perhaps she had simply forgotten whoever it was. Nothing to worry about. A brief search and her eyes picked out the form peeking around the counter at her. She blinked, then, grinning brightly, slung her jacket over one shoulder and hurried over. "Nayati!"

And then she paused, standing a short distance from him, blinking in surprise. "Nayati," she repeated, somewhat hesitantly. A moment passed before she snapped free of her daze, grin returning as she stepped up and pulled her friend int a hug. "Look at you!! It's been so long! When did you grow? Congrats!"

-Her excitement brought another soft smile to him, and he stepped lightly from the counter. He seemed almost surprised as she hugged onto him, and he nearly dropped the straw tucked beneath his arm.

Stepping back from the affection, he brushed back a few sandy locks as his tail flicked gently back and forth.- "Ahh.. it wasn't that big of a deal. Awhile back though.." -Cocking his ivory head a little to the side, he peered more curiously now at the sugarglider, taking in her own growth. She certainly did look nice now. Not that she hadn't before but..

Brushing away the circling thoughts in his head, he locked his eyes on hers again.- "I'm glad I'm not the only 'old' one around here though."

"What about yourself? How long ago did your growth spurt occur?"

The same old Nayati, Acia mused, smiling to herself. She had been rather worried what to expect actually. She could hardly remember back before her growth to child, and even less of how her friends had behaved back then. How was she to know they didn't change drastically with each growth?

Of course, she hadn't changed that she could tell... A bit more mature, a bit more flexible, and not as prone to dropping vials of acids. But otherwise? Well, appearance...

And his appearance had certainly changed, she noted, almost immediately shoving her own thoughts away and fixing her attention on his words. "Same, on both counts. It's been a little while... It's good to know I'm not the only one who's grown. I'd been a bit worried that everyone else would still be small.. I haven't seen anyone in so long."

"Well that makes two of us then." -Laughing a little, out of reassurance and soft comfort, he motioned gently back towards the counter.- "Would you believe I myself actually haven't seen many of you guys from the old days?"

-Disappearing behind the counter, he called back loudly so she could hear.- "Alot of new plushes and animals, but not you, Erae, Sid, and any of them."

-Behind the counter was his 'pad' of sorts. A cat bed that Iris had set back there that made for a soft and easily accesible place for him to lounge while she worked. Carefully he set his weaving supplies alongside the seemingly large mat. Glancing back to see whether or not she'd followed, he tried to ponder over interesting things to say, finding himself shamefully at a lack there of.-

"I'd believe it," she replied, chuckling softly and following. "The last I've seen before you was Willow. I haven't seend Sid, Erae or Ana in...Erk, maybe since my birthday?" Shaking her head, she sighed. "I've just been so distracted.. Between Moo losing it and me growing, and lab work and gymnastics, and putting up with Tia and Miire.. I've just lost touch with everyone."

Following him behind the counter, she brightened up when her eyes fell on the set up and, dropping whatever formality right have remained, promptly flopped down and made herself comfortable, using her jacket for a pillow. "So, what've you been up to since I last saw you?"

"Ahh Willow. I quite remember her too. It's been almost as long myself though, so you shouldn't feel bad."

-He didn't really have exciting stories, or things that should have kept him busy like she did, but he settled upon the fluffy padding himself, thinking.- "Nothing nearly as exciting I'm afraid. Helping new people that come into the shop on occassion... assisting in a few chest opennings.. helping Iris around the house with the 'little ones'."

-Settling his arms behind his head, he shook a few more stray strands away from his muzzle looking at her with an impressed gaze.- "It's too cold for me to garden outside, so I've been doing alot of other things. Weaving, braiding, painting. Just stuff to pass the time."

-Motioning with his head to the small bundle of colored straw he spoke almost as if he was emarrassed admitting it.- "I'm actually making some for Iris for Christmass..."

"But that's perfectly exciting!" Acia exclaimed cheerfully, smiling. "At least you've been remotely social. Are there many new Velvets? I only know a few, all in all... How many of us are there?"

Pausing, she shifted somewhat to make herself more comfortable and nestled her head down on the jacket, blowing the furry collar out of her face before replying. "I'm not terribly fond of the cold myself... But as long as I have my jacket, it's not too bad. And the tail helps," she mused aloud, idly twitching the tip.

After a brief pause, she blinked and fixed her eyes on him. "I've been doing more of the indoor things too... Labwork, mostly. There's so much I don't know.. I couldn't comprehend it when I was younger, I suppose. So I'm playing catch up on that. And then the lab's big enough that I have room to practice my gymnastics... I haven't done much inventing lately. The garage is freezing."

Eyes flickering towards the straw, she smiled brightly. "That's very nice of you. I'm sure she lov--Christmas." The glider grimaced, sighing, "I'd forgotten it was so soon. I'll have to start on presents..."

-His tail flicked contentedly as he listened to her talk. Even though he got to 'socialize' with people on occassion, it was rare that the other person wasn't a very young one... be it one of Iris sugar fae, or a new animal to the shop, even Iris herself wasn't one for serious conversation. It was enjoyable actually, and he found himself smiling a little more.-

"I really can't say exactly how many of us there are now... but I'll wager atleast fifteen.. perhaps more? Most of them are young though. I've seen a few children about.. and you're the first teen I've seen besides myself."

"Gymnastics?" -He peered at her curiously with deep green eyes at the term. It wasn't something in his vocabulary.. but on that note he was a rather laid back and even 'lazy' sort. It was something near amazing that his body seemed so trim and even softly defined. More likely the magic of the shop then anything he did.

Following her soft sigh, he grinned a little more, patting one three finger hand gently against her arm.- "If it makes you feel any better, I probably won't even finish mom's gift until after Christmas. Not if it's as big as I plan it being."

"Fifteen.." she breathed, shaking her head in dismay. "I could name maybe half if I thought about it. I'll have to hunt down to rest," she joked, grinning.

Sitting up somewhat, the glider cocked her head curiously at him. "You know...gymnastics. Tumbling, acrobats. Flips and leaps and such. It's loads of fun, and I've gotten pretty good at it if I do say so. It's just a side hobby of mine...A way to stay in shape so that I don't waste away in a lab."

She flushed faintly, tucking a stray lock of hair out of her face. "I can't believe I've forgotten.. It's been so long since the last, I suppose. I'll have to get started... What would you like for Christmas, Nayati?"

-He nodded a little softly, becoming somewhat curious as to why she cared so much about each and every velvet. Iris was like that too.. so maybe it was a girl thing?

However the explaination drew his attention away from those thoughts, and he closed his eyes momentarily, trying to imagine the things she spoke of as she explained. He'd seen things like that of course.. but up until now he'd not known anyone who really prided themselves in 'staying fit'. But then again she was a little less ground bound then he was.. and her new body..

He opened his eyes again, looking over her figure with soft care. Well her new body did look quite graceful. Her next statement caught him by surprise however and he lifted his eyes back to her face, giving something of a dumb look as he tried to replay the words.- "Huh? Oh. I don't really need anything Acia..."

-He could always use some nice little stuff, but it was true he didnt need anything. And if he did let her get him anything, he'd feel obligated to give her something in return.. and who knew what she'd want or need.-

The glider laughed, shrugging and sitting back, both hands falling to her sides to prop herself up. "That's half the fun of Christmas presents. Most of the time you don't really need them... They're just a treat. A gift from one friend to anything. And I'd like to give you one."

"Don't worry," she continued after a beat, tilting her head with a grin. "I'll give you some time to think about it, how's that? And if you come up with anything you'd like especially, you tell me. Otherwise, I'll surprise you." That seemed perfectly reasonable to Acia. Already her mind was ticking away at what she could get for her different friends.... Or make, rather, and she had pooled her small allowance with Tia and Miire to fix up their bedroom. But make was good...right?

-Laughing a little he mused, streching further still before he finally propped himself up as she had.- "Well that isn't very practical. But I can hardly argue. A little fun and frivalousness couldn't hurt."

"Ahhh, and the same stands for you. If there is something you'd like..." -He trailed, as she knew the rest. However his voice soon grew serious, far away even.- "Can you believe how much time has passed? A second christmas already..." -He felt so old.. and yet so young and clueless at the same time. This teenage uncertainity really was a pain and a half. Talk about a joy killer.-

"Friendship doesn't have to be practical," Acia replied matter-of-factly, eyes glittering cheerily. "That's what's so nice about it. It doesn't have to follow rules or standards or anything so long as the people consider themselves friends."
That made sense to Acia, anyway. Though it probably didn't make much sense overall, she mused, rerunning the words through her head. Oh well, too late now.

Growing a bit more subdued, she laughed softly, smile softening as she shook her head. "Not at all... It's so strange being around my family. My brothers, the ones just a bit older than me... Both are away from home and married with children and I... I can't even begin to see myself like that yet. But it seems like everyone's growing up around me, and I'm... I don't know," she finished lamely, shrugging slightly. "I don't understand it."

-Nayati stifled another soft laugh. She was pretty cute.. So optimistc and seemingly childish. Something he really wouldn't have expected from the resident 'logic' expert. It was nice though nonetheless, and he was suddenly very happy that she'd decided to come visit the shop for awhile.. even if it did mean he wasn't working.

Flipping over to his side, he propped his cheek against the palm of his 'hand', wrestling with rebelious braids, as he did.- "You'll grow when you're ready Acia." -Feeling the need to reassure her he sifted through his mind before finally offering.- "I think we all grow at our own pace, you know? Some of us are just more.. 'mature' then others. Take a good portion of my family for example. They'd be absolutely hopeless without each other. Each and every one of them, no matter the age are a bunch of big children. Iris included."

-He almost asked her about that second part.. about whether she DID want to be that grown sort.. with a family and living off away from home. But it seemed like prying.. and something she probably wouldn't be able to answer anyway, so he kept silent for the time being.-

Early December?
Soundfile - 16

I've managed to find time to visit te shop, and twice I've actually run into Velvets there--Willow a short while after I grew and, more recently, Nayati.

I hadn't seen either of them in absolute ages. Willow's grown to 'child' now and her best friend is a ghost, who she can see even if I can't. She seems...older than I did when I was that age, almost. r, well, it's hard to say, really. I wasn't much of a child myself, I'm afraid, in terms of games and toys and such, but Willow has this... almost this sadness about her. Very gloomy.

Nayati... he's grown too, log. As far as he and I know, we're the only two 'teens'. It's strange... but not bad, persay. THe others will grow soon, I'm sure. Until then, there's always Nayati. That didn't come out right.

Um, Nayati... It was really good seeing him again. And grown. We talked for a while about this and that, he showed me his room, I showed him some of my gymnastics. It was fun. Nayati's terribly nice. I haven't seen him in...quite a while. Longer than Sid or Erae, certainly.

A long pause. Clears her throat.

Um. What was I saying? Uh... We talked and... Oh, I learned that there're at least fifteen Velvets now. I only know a few, I think.. Sid, Erae, Nayati, Ana, Willow, Vetch, uh... Trea, Kesin, um... That guy with the pompom... I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. But still! That's only nine! Which is more than I thought, yes, but still. I'll have to meet the rest.

Nayati also reminded me that Christmas is coming up. I can't believe I'd forgotten. I've only had one Christmas, yes, but it's still something I should remember. Anywho, it's very soon. I have to start on presents. Not sure if I'll buy o make or what--I don't know what I'm getting anyone yet.

Well, that's not true. I have an idea for Nayati.

Buh-bye, log.
