The blood red curtain slowly pulled away revealing the abyss of darkness within; an immense silence reverberated throughout the crowd. A terrifying figure stepped forward, its features engulfed by darkness as it towered over the field of excited circus-goers, their eyes forced open with fear and anticipation. A light from above flickered on, banishing the darkness and revealing the solemn figure, as it flooded the stage with a cool light. A silent relief echoed throughout the crowd. It was only a young man; humble in stature, his face worn and aged and his hair grayed from the wisdom of his years. His expressionless, gray eyes stared into the hearts of the spectators. He stepped forward, approaching the edge of the stage, his movements slow and calm. A small puppet dangled from his arms, its face bursting with life. The large, green marbles that were its eyes darted between the individual faces of its fans, a soft grin stretched upon its face.

A deep, inhumane laughter, echoing from within the audience, breached the silence. The earth rumbled beneath their feet as chaos erupted. Horrified faces gazed into the recesses of the crowd, their wide eyes frantically searching for the demon that had entered their midst. The puppet, still hanging from the young man's hand, completely still and unmoved, opened its mouth and laughed, the screeching tone silenced the crowd immediately as it crudely demanded the attention of all who had the misfortune of being in its presence. And then silence. Complete silence.

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen," the screeching voice announced, the words emerging from within the wooden throat of the puppet, it's wooden lips lightly clapping together with each syllable, "And welcome to the show."

Name:

Baal (Ventriloquist) and Obh (Puppet)
The names Baal and Obh were derived from the ancient term, which contains the Greek prefixes and suffixes meaning "belly speaker," modernly referred to as a ventriloquist. The ancient people of Israel believed that through this form of necromancy, a person could not only summon spirits from the dead, but invoke the demon, Obh, an ancient spirit that could foresee the future.
