...Well, it's not the guild's fault. But Gaia's.
'Cause, whenever we Finnish people use Finnish lettering, like
äiti tänään on kaunis päivä eikö ookin?
it comes out like that. Strange marking, even though what they really look like is ä and ö... (if this even shows)
Doesn't this annoy you? It annoys me at least, and I hope something could be done about it...
Could we perhaps suggest to Gaia that they'd change some of the programming or something so that it would accept Finnish lettering?
Edit: Okay, at least the letters show fine in the preview... but for some people, ä and ö doesn't show and it makes some stuff almost impossible to read >_<'''

This problem has been around as long as Gaia has excisted. First, during the time it was still GoGaia.com, it depended on which server you posted. If you read the posts on the very same server, the special letters showed just fine. Otherwise not... So most Finns wrote without 'em.
Then came Gaiaonline.com, and they fixed the letter problem. For a while everything worked just fine. Then they did some big update again and all the special letters were lost once again. That's why the Finnish guild still has those '?'-marks on some posts...
However, everything should be fine now. If the letters don't show, then the problem probably isn't with gaia, but with the font support of your computer. *shrugs*

Question marks are okay, but when I used them in my profile page they looked more like kanjis...

In my opinion, it's better to write without the dots on a/o. It's easier to read that than weird markings messing the text up if the letters don't show correct in the first place. It makes pretty much sense that way too, since hardly any words change meaning if you switch the vowel like that. (in any case, not affecting understanding in the long run)
And if people complain about that, just tell them that you don't have a scandinavian keyboard. I mean, my friend is in Ireland now and she often writes without so called 'ääkköset' because the English keyboards don't support 'em. And if people still complain after hearing about your keyboard, then they're stupid and not worth your time.

Most of these problems can be solved by simply changing your browsers character encoding. Western (ISO-8859-1) works fine for me. domokun

Yeah, I have seen some topics which have this problem, but it's okay if "ä" and "ö" are just ??? or a and o. Though, it's not funny when it's like this: "Ai, terve j;&3237tk;83237! Mit;&3237s aiot t;&3237n;&3237;&3237n tehd;&3237?" Should be -> "Ai, terve jätkä! Mitäs aiot tänään tehdä?" = "Oh, hi dude! What'cha gonna do today?"
I run to this kind of problem at Satan's Church's website, thah was really annoying. (Luckily I usually don't need to translate pages, I just tried it out for fun.)
