I haven't done ANY coding for a VERY long time, so I am VERY bad at it right now. u-u

Anyways, I'm trying a host I haven't used before, and maybe that's why I can't get anything right. I'm trying to make an imagemap, with the coordinates in a .map file because my pages have been getting crowded. All the public webpages have the same stuff on them at the moment. When you click on the coordinates, it links directly to the .map file. It was working properly before I added the other pages and sorted them into sub-directories (and I don't think that the problem is I haven't changed the URL names, I've triple-checked EVERYTHING). I'm not even sure if .map files can work this way. xD So please please please tell me if you know what the problem might be!

Website: http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/index.htm
(Other pages in directory are clones; about.htm, blog.htm, gallery.htm, forum.htm, shop.htm, contact.htm)

.Map: http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/sidebar.map

.CSS: http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/layout.css

The layout is crappeh, I'm just practicing, probably won't end up being my website.

So anyways, I'm pretty sure I just made a stupid mistake somewhere and knowing me I can't see the extra forward slash or whatever. Also this is my first time using .css and .map files since freewebs is the sucksorz so I might not have made them properly. And also I didn't add any DOCTYPE headers yet, if that's the problem.

EDIT: If no one can find a problem with it (which I really doubt since I'm not that good), I'll just do the image maps on every page. Might take up a lot of space though, I'm not sure how much I have.

Might help if you post the code in your .map file. 3nodding

And it's strange that you're just using image maps instead of standard HTML coding. xd

Is it? I didn't feel like seperating my image into a billion pieces. xD

I had the wrong URL up:
http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/sidebar.map

This is all I have in there:

rect http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/index.htm 32,163 143,197
rect http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/about.htm 32,225 143,259
rect http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/blog.htm 32,284 143,319
rect http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/gallery.htm 32,344 143,377
rect http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/forum.htm 32,403 143,436
rect http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/shop.htm 32,464 143,498
rect http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/contact.htm 32,527 143,561

Should I have more than that? I was following a tutorial somewhere else for an image map using a .map file.

Whoa. o.o
It works when the gaia banner is there, but if you close it, it shows the index like you said. Weird.

And that code looks right too.

EDIT: Sorry, don't you need a defult URL?

I don't know, it worked without it when I tested a signature image.

EDIT: I tried it. Didn't work, not the original link nor the redirect.

Okay, so I gave up on the image map and went to the cutting into a million (cough, 9) pieces thing. I ran into a few provlems on my computer, but most of my friends don't see anything wrong, so...

1) Go here: http://www.geocities.com/matsukof/Webpages/test.html
Go on every browser you have: Internet Explorer, Firefox, MSN Explorer, Netscape, EVERYTHING YOU HAVE.

2) See if anything's screwy,
like the spacing between the buttons for instance.

3) Post;
Which and what version of browser you use, your screen resolution, what brand of computer you use, and if possible a screenshot of anything that looks out of the ordinary.

Example Post
Hey, Matsuko you sex goddess, I tested the webpage on a few browsers for you:

Firefox 5.9: Good, text misaligned, link to screenshot [HERE]

Internet Explorer 7.0: Black space between buttons, text misaligned, screenshot [HERE]

Safari 2.1: Monocolour images!? Screenshot [HERE]

My current computer setting is resolution 800x600px, I run a Windows '98.

And remember, DO NOT CLICK THE BUTTONS MORE THAN ONCE >o<
