So, this Spring my school has the extreme fortune of performing Les Miserables. Since the play recently went back on Broadway, it was tough to get the rights.
Anyway, I am absolutely dying for a part in that play (It's gorgeous music... Does anyone know it?) so I begged my mother to take me.
We took a little drive to South Street Seaport Half-Price booth, and once again, I had the extreme fortune of finding it on the list.
As I sat down a few hours later, I opened the program, and what name jumps out at me?
That's right. Daphne Rubin-Vega.
She played Fantine! I had NO clue. I was ecstatic...
(IT was too bad she was awful. Her voice is not suited for Les Miz.)

I'm sorry hear that she was horrible. But you got to see Les Mis! I hope you get the part you want. I agree, the music is beautiful. So you got to see Aaron Lazar right...?

Aw. That's exciting. And Dissapointing. Did you appreciate Daphne's acting, at least? Honestly, as much as I love her, I can't even begin to immagine her as Fantine. But the only Fantine I've ever really seen has been Sophia Ragavelas (and Ruthie Henshall, but that doesn't really count...wait, she's married to Tim Howar? Say what?), so I can't really imagine anyone but her as Fantine. Which is silly.

As usual, her acting and energy stood out... Especially after her death when she was in the chorus as a boy. I felt bad for her... I heard the people in front of us whisper, "She runied the whole show!" and I kind of wanted to yell at them. >>
Ducky - that's too bad. I'm a lowly freshman, so I can't expect any parts larger than "Factory Girl 1" or something. Our tryouts are in about 20 days.

We did Les Mis my sophomore year. I was beggar number 2. A nice little solo...
Anywho, I can't really picture Daphne as Fantine. Her voice just isn't right for the part...

Alexi Darling Ducky - that's too bad. I'm a lowly freshman, so I can't expect any parts larger than "Factory Girl 1" or something. Our tryouts are in about 20 days. I'm a sophomore with a medocre voice... hold up im actually right next to the cast list now... I am Girl 2 and Babet (who is that).

She's probably a factory girl or one of the women who were like "Did you see them going off to fight?"
