The OVA ending flies in the face of Watsuki's philosophy that shouen should have a happy ending.

Tasha21 That's true that's why I didn't like the ending because all main characters in any movie should live happily ever after. I know, I just LOVE fairy tale endings.

1. ova = depressing and didn't follow the manga. crying
2. but the ova WAS historically accurate as some people pointed out. 3nodding

It wasn't the real ending, the manga is the true ending. Drawn/written by, Nobohiro watsuki. Still it made me cry like insane...
