Elix followed at a slight distance, he trusted Chestnut... perhaps even with his life. An oddly close freindship considering how short a time they had known each other. But he found himself very uncomfortable in Copper's precense. So he trailed behind hesitantly, even managing to stop without colliding with the other two. When Copper snuffled about and finally displayed a handful of grubs, Elix paused, having a few misgivings about devouring the small wriggling creatures. He glanced at Chestnut, who seemed equally reluctant to taste the bounty, and finally leaned forward, sniffing shyly at the worms. To his suprise they smelled appetising. He blinked a few times and sniffed again. then grabbed one of the proffered insects and popped it into his mouth. It was... sweet! He was genuinely surprised, and after swallowing turned to Chestnut. "They're not as bad as they look!" He admitted.

Illusor Meaneld Elix followed at a slight distance, he trusted Chestnut... perhaps even with his life. Chestnut's bile rose at the sight of Elix happily devouring the grubs. He looked from the ferret to the hound and then back again. Both seemed more than enthusiastic about the wiggly grubs. He forced his eyes to the insects and jerkily reached out a clawed hand as if it cost him great effort to move. The little fox-man gingerly picked up a grub wincing at its texture. He swallowed convulsivly before putting it in his mouth.
The fox nearly lost it right there, but he managed to swallow, a great gulping swallow. The grub wiggled all the way down... he felt ill. " I think I prefer... already dead food," Chestnut groaned looking proverbially green about the gills."

Sabel's muzzle wrinkled markedly as the others consumed the wriggling grubs. Uhg, I think I'll stick to fruits and vegetables. She thought to herself as she picked up one of the insect larvae. Well...I guess I should try it, it would be sort of rude for me not to... She opened her powerful jaws wide and placed the squirming invertabrate at the back of her mouth then bit down crushing it. Surprisingly she found the spurt of ichor in her mouth to be rather appetizing. She blinked several times in surprise before grabbing a few more handfuls for herself.
OOC: A strange but true fact, Striped Hyenas really enjoy eating insects, they will chase and leap to snap bugs out of the air. 3nodding

When Thomas returned, having taken care of the body of the poor bovine girl and washed the blood off his paws at a nearby stream, he found the small group of those he had left behind had grown somewhat. The smaller ones seemed to be enjoying (to various degrees) a meal of grubs. Though he'd grabbed a snack of berries during his walk, Thomas' stomach growled loudly at the sight, announcing his presence in a more embarassing manner than he would have preferred. However, not one to dwell on the negative, the bear-man took it in stride and waved at his newest companions as he approached, scooping up a handful of squirming insects and tossing them down his gullet in a single gulp.
"What'd I miss?" he said, hoping that their spirits had been lifted a little since he'd left them a while before. He nodded to the raptor-man, whom he'd seen around before, then focused on Copper. "Anyone else come back yet?"

The hound girl looked up enthusiastically (her tail wagging and tongue out) when she realized (helped along by the bear's grumbling stomache) that Thomas was returning. She looked up at him with a sort of awe and delight as he availed himself ot the lunch of grubs.
Her droopy face fell back into a frown when he mentioned what had just happened and the question of others returning. " Well... I was running off to show Chestnut and Elix where the best grubs were and this raptor-guy tripped me! You should have seen Chestnut! He was so brave he jumped between me and the raptor, and the guy started making trouble so the wolf guy and umm...... Lune... that's it Lune all attacked him and it was incredilbe! And there was the cat-girl-thing can't say I like her much she's kind of upity but I be she can't help it being a cat and all..... but then we all found the grubs and Elix and umm... I forgot her name like them but I think Chesnut's going to hurl..... and no one else has come back," Copper finished her near breathless, run-on monlouge with a decided nod. All the excitement had made her a little jittery, something, she had a vauge recolection, that hadn't happened before. It seemed the excitibility of the hound had affected he personality as well as her physical traits.

"A fairly accurate, if biased assessment." The raptor muttered, as if he didn't really care.

Sabel, grub in her mouth, made to speak but mumbled over the insect, and in turn swallowed it to speak more clearly. "My name is Sabel." She added. "And I think the main problem is territorial males so far." rolleyes "Or at least male egos." She grabbed another of the overlarge larva and shrugged. "But what does a hyena know."

Copper giggled at Sabel's assessment. " I should say so! But what does a hound know?" she added with a wink.
Chesnut blinked a bit as if confused...... first by Copper's random recount and then by Sabel's imput. " ..... I'm not territorial...."

Yawning hugely and stretching quite langoriously, Slade became once again alive to the world. A quick searching glance confirmed what she had noticed peripherally while sleeping, nothing was wrong with the group she was now in. She paid little attention to the others of the group for several minutes as she righted her fur with pats of hand and a quick swipe of her tongue. Then she padded on hands and feet over to a small runlet of water she could smell nearby for some more thorough grooming. She returned in time to hear the tag-end of the Raptor's coment, which made little sense to her. Examining the Bear-man that had just shown up, she mentally labeled him "Dangerous if pushed". Slinking now, she came around to where he could see her and paused dramatically for a moment before she introduced herself, "I am known as Slade, what are you called?"

Copper spotted that the uppity cat had come out of her tree. This was opportunity for mischief. Slurping up one last grub she bounced over and pushed the puffed up feline into the water. She grinned and let out a howl that surprised her as much as anybody. At any rate she stood looking down at a very wet kitty.
