For me, the relevance to halloween goes like this:
Pumpkins/jak-o-lanterns (almost only encountered on halloween)
Black cats (not always halloween)
Witches (could be fantasy thing instead)
Skeletons (Eh, D&D)
Ghosts (Grudge, ring, and the haunting series weren't on halloween)
The devil (not ussually on halloween, but some say it's his b-day)
Demons (Not very often, but hey, sometimes, more of a fantasy thing though)
Aliens (not very halloweenish)

The pumpkins. Every year, we buy like, 20 pumpkins, and we carve them, and set them out, just so people can smash them. I carved into one pumpkin, "Smash me!" with a lil "XD" face. whee
