Adara smiled softly as she sat on the edge of the creek with her feet dangling into the water. The lush green grass around her rustled softly in the light breeze that ran through the trees of the forest that cradled Adara's small home in the center of it's bounderies. It was so peaceful and she was reluctant to leave it, but she had to start out to search for the key. It was the only way she could help everybody.

She sighed, thinking how much she'd miss this place. It will only be for awhile, she thought to herself. I'll return after I see what I can find about the key.
A black cat darted towards her, and then crawled into her lap. Adara looked down in quiet surprise and then started to stroke the cat's fur with a gentle touch. "I'll be leaving in a few days, Rin," she spoke slowly, her voice quiet as she listened to the birds and the sound of the water. "I'd be delighted if you'd come with me, but it could be dangerous. What do you think? Want to come with me?"
The cat, Rin, looked at her, her coppery-golden eyes had a look as if to say "An adventure would be fun. I'll go."
"Alright, then, it's settled. Both you and Miiko will be coming with me," her voice stayed soft. Rin seemed to smile at the conclusion that was reached. "We'll leave tomorrow. Three days from now at the latest." The cat hopped off of Adara's lap and headed towards the stable where Miiko was kept during the rain and nights. She stood up and walked after the cat.

The warmth of the stable washed over her as she slid open the door. The smell of hay mixed with the smell of leaves and rain. Rin walked in and Adara followed her. Miiko looked out of his stall and turned his gracefully-shaped head to the side, his rich, dark chocolate colored forelock shifted with the movement. His dark brown eyes reflected wisdom and they held a question that Adara understood at once. Any normal person would have over looked it. "Miiko, we'll be leaving soon." She kissed the stallion's velvet nose gentally in greeting. He shook his head up then down once, in a gesture of understanding. Adara laughed and stroked his coarse mane.
You should get some sleep, little one. We best go prepared once we leave and so there will be much of it tomorrow to do. At best, we'll be leaving by mid-afternooon tomorrow. We'll need to take food, some money, and some weapons. I know you may be unhappy about the last thing, but I sense the road ahead of us holds danger. The voice was warm and had gentle strength. Miiko had spoken in Adara's mind as he had done many other times. He always called her 'little one' even though she was older than he. It was only by his size that she could be called little one. He stood sixteen and a half hands tall from ground to shoulder(five feet, five inches tall). She only stood three inches above that.
"I know, Miiko. I will go do as you say. Good night and rest well yourself." Adara smiled and kissed the stallion once more on the nose before she walked away to the door with Rin following close behind her. She looked back and bowed her head one last time before sliding the door shut.
She walked to the cottage and opened the door. Rin slinked inside in front of Adara and waited as Adara shut the door. Rin curled up in her basket by the fireplace and Adara walked to her room, her pace slow with weariness. She laid down on her bed and fell asleep within a few minutes. She rested well and peacfully. Her dreams were serene and full of beautiful things, not as they were to be soon.

Adara's eyes opened and she slowly sat up in her bed. She let out a quiet yawn and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. She swung her legs to the edge of the bed and stood up, slightly unstable on her feet from being barely awake.

She sat back down on the edge of her bed so she could wake up more. Adara sighed a little as she once again thought of leaving her home. She stood up again and walked into the small, sun-lit kitchen. The walls were a creamy white and the sun made it golden in the morning light. The cupboards up along the walls where her dishes were kept were made of polished cherry wood. The counters were a green marble with white veins through it set on wood cabinets that was identical to the wood of the cupboards. The window was on the west wall that faced out towards the creek and meadow beyond. The floor was made of smooth wood as well, but the kind wasn't apparent. There was a small wood stove in a gap between two counters. A small table was set off to the side from the kitchen with one lone chair.

Adara walked towards the door and grabbed a pale brown woven basket that was sitting on a shelf by the door. She walked outside to her garden where she got her meals every day. Setting the basket on the ground, she stooped down to pick some vegitables first: three carrots, several pea pods, and two patatoes. She stood up and picked up the basket. She then headed over to her small orchard she had. She selected the tree that held some peaches and gently plucked a ripe one from the branches of the peach tree. Adara then walked back towards the house but didn't go inside. Instead, she stopped outside the door and set the basket on the ground. She started walking back out acrossed the grassy glade, towards a small stone well. She tossed the bucket down and then began reeling up the bucket full of the water. When she got it to the top, she then un-tied the rope and carried it back to her house. She went inside and set the bucket on the counter top, then went back outside her door and grabbed the basket.

Bringing the basket over into the kitchen area, Adara set it on the counter. She pulled a metal pot out of the cupboard near the stove and placed it atop one of the burners. She poured the water she got from the well into this and lit a fire. The water started to steam after a few minutes before breaking into a boil. As that was going on, she washed the peach, carrots, potatoes, and peas in the left over water. Setting the peach off to the side, she pulled out a knife from a drawer filled with silverwear. The silverwear appeared to be actual silver and had a carving of a dove at the end of the handle. The knife had a sharp blade and the handle was made of a dark wood. Adara pulled out an oak cutting board and began chopping up the carrots. After she finished, she put them in the boiling water and began cutting the pea pods into sections before doing the same and then beginning on the potatoes. She stirred the water with a wooden spoon, then added some spices to the boiling, steaming water. She stirred it again, then took the peach and poked a hole in it with the blade of the knife which she twisted, causing a drip of peach juice to go into the soup. Adara tested the carrots and potatoes to see how soft they were. They seemed to be ready to eat, so she put out the fire. She got a bowl out of the cupboard and grabbed a spoon from the drawer. She also grabbed a laddle and scooped some soup into her bowl. Adara went off to the table to sit and eat, taking small, careful bites.
