I'll be reserving posts and setting things up over the next few days. Just let it be known my spirit idea is for the North Wind. (Like the title suggests?)
Once I have more filled out I'll make this fancy-ish!

Spirit of the North Wind
Name: Mistral Gender: Female Spirit: North Wind
Appearance:
Personality: Mistral tends to enjoy peoples company, drifting from one person to the next with grace. That doesn't mean people enjoy her company, a snide remark may sometimes escape her lips in a mere whisper and she will often stare at people as if judging them. Mistral feels no need to hunt for acceptance, nor any need to make lasting relationships. Thus she won't bother to tr to be friendly if she doesn't wish to be. She never gives you the feeling of warmth though. Not even when she's trying to be nice. When she walks away it will be like she never cared to begin with. As if she's dismissing their existance. She has trouble sticking in one place for long though and will often avoid lasting conversations for the sake of finding a new interesting thing to take up her time. She sometimes comes back though, perhaps five minutes later, perhaps less time. She enjoys laughing and having a fairly playful nature, from watching leaves drift in the breeze in fall to playing some new game with a person. She's quite adaptable to situations presented to her in that sense.
However, she also has a temper at times. It tends to show when she runs up against a wall she can neither sneak through a crack in or push down. Her temper tends to be something that slowly winds up before exploding, rather an an immediate surge. People will know long before she actually starts becoming truly angered. Thus it's not too hard to run for cover before she gives one last try at beating whatever is in her way.
Mistral may also be prone to some antics that are less than friendly. Games that only she can truly enjoy, or sometimes even understand. It's never fun to end up at the blunt end of one of her games because it means you might get left out in the cold, ditched simply for the inability to comprehend something. Don't confuse her with a prankster though, she doesn't have much of a sense of humor for jokes or pranks. She just enjoys playing a few tricks such a hiding a doll when no one is around. Likes: She adores being outside more than anything, closed spaces bother her. Meeting new people tends to prompt more smiles than anything from the child. She preferes a colder environment, and winter tends to be when she feels most at peace. Dislikes: The sun, something she can't personally explain well. Closed spaces. Things that she can't force under her will, or find a solution to(temper tantrums ahoy).
Abilities: Too hot? The statement will be something that never escapes this child's lips. A chilling breeze can happen in even the most secure room when in her pressence. Not that it can save her from sunburns.

North Wind and the Sun
Orthographic version
The North Wind and the Sun were disputing which was the stronger, when a traveler came along wrapped in a warm cloak. They agreed that the one who first succeeded in making the traveler take his cloak off should be considered stronger than the other. Then the North Wind blew as hard as he could, but the more he blew the more closely did the traveler fold his cloak around him; and at last the North Wind gave up the attempt. Then the Sun shined out warmly, and immediately the traveler took off his cloak. And so the North Wind was obliged to confess that the Sun was the stronger of the two.
The North wind doth blow poem
The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow, And what will poor robin do then, poor thing? He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm and hide his head under his wing, poor thing.
Boreas by Micha F. Lindemans The Greek god of the North Wind who lived in Thrace. He is depicted as being winged, extremely strong, bearded and normally clad in a short pleated tunic. He is the son of Eos and Astraeus, and the brother of Zephyrus, Eurus and Notus.
Boreas has two sons, two daughters and twelve mares which can race over the ground without destroying the grain. When the Persian navy of Xerxes threatened the city of Athens, the Athenians begged his assistance. The Great Wind of the Wintery North blew his anger at the Persians and 400 Persian ships sank immediately. Among other violent acts he abducted Oreithyia, the daughter of the king of Athens, when she was playing on the banks of the Ilissus. In Latin, he is called Aquilo.
Boreas (Again)
BOREAS was the purple-winged god of the north wind, one of the four directional Anemoi (wind-gods). He was also the god of winter, who swept down from the cold northern mountains of Thrake, chilling the air with his icy breath. To the north, beyond his mountain home, lay Hyperborea, a land of eternal spring which was never touched by the god's cold wind. When Boreas sought a wife, he swept down upon the town of Athens and carried off Oreithyia (mountain gale), a daughter of King Erekhtheus, who was playing with her companions in a flowery riverside meadow. The couple had several children, including Khione the goddess of snow, and the twin Boreades, a pair of purple-winged heroes who chased the Harpies. Boreas and his brother winds were often imagined as horse-shaped gods. An old Greek folk belief was that the winds Boreas and Zephyros would sweep down upon the mares in early spring and fertilize them in the shape of wind-formed stallions. The horses born from these couplings were the swiftest and finest of their kind. The fabulous horses of King Laomedon of Troy were said to have been sired in this way by Boreas upon the Trojan mares.
In Greek vase painting Boreas was depicted as a striding, winged god. Sometimes his hair and beard were spiked with ice. In mosaic art he often appears as a gust blowing head with bloated cheeks up among the clouds. This imagery carried over into post-Classical art, and is frequently found in old maps.
Cherokee Wind Messangers Regarding North Wind
Offerings are given to the Messengers to appease them. The offering is given to the North Wind Messenger so he will not whine too long and destroy people with cold. His color is black and his countenance, stern.
On occasion the North Wind Messenger sends his great cold winds to blow between the West and the South Winds, but the West Wind Messenger always joins with the South Wind Messenger and together they blow the cold north wind back to the North Wind Messenger. In summer all three Wind Messengers--the East, South and West--join together against the North Wind Messenger to ensure that his cold winds do not invade and destroy living things. Sometimes the North Wind Messenger will go about in the night to blast fruit trees, gardens, the first small corn and water. Because of the other three Winds, he must do this very secretly. Since the North Wind Messenger is capable of great mischief, the other Wind Messengers are always on their guard against his tricks and keep him in bounds. When people do wicked things, disobey their priests and refuse to listen to their counsel, the Creator, "Ouga", sets all four wind messengers against the earth to destroy crops and bring hunger to punish people for their wicked actions.
Color Symbolism
North Wind Messenger The North Wind Messenger color is black. He is called "Yah wi gu na he da", Long Human being. This being is the spirit of all of the rivers and controls the winds that bring the winter season. He would cause great mischief if not for the watchful eyes of the South Wind and West Wind Messengers which keep him in check.
