Xzibit has a video out now called Concentrate and it opens with a monk chanting on prayer beads.
i saw it and was like "cool -keeps watching-"
but then he just goes to rapping about money and sex stuff
you know, normal rap themes

Heres the video
it just, disappointed me in some ways
but its mainstream rap so i couldnt expect much more really, haha

what do you all think?

ps: whats the chant mean? o_o

I didn't understand 95% of what was happening in that video, but I did
pick up that he, perhaps, mentioned that jail isn't all that glamorous?
That's a plus - an artist of that genre not glorifying incarceration. On the
downside, though, the "plus" side is motivated by greed.

The chanting is a line from the Nichiren sect's morning chants - Nam-myoho-renge-kyo - and its meaning apparantly doesn't translate well. What they do piece together has it say something along the lines of "I take refuge in the Lotus Sutra", or something similar.

I have a really great MP3 file of that chant. It's done by a group of people,
chanting it melodiously for just over four minutes. It's really intense!
