Persephone crouched between a couple of bushes, her crimson eyes intent on the creature before her. A mouse rooted in the dead leaves nearby, faint rustles reaching the albino wolf's ears. She tensed, her muscles tightening. Then she shifted position a little, readying herself to pounce. That was a mistake. She also had dead leaf litter underneath her paws, and it crunched audibly. The mouse froze, twitched its ears and shot off towards some unknown burrow nearby.
Realising that the mouse knew, Persephone had made a desperate pounce in the hope of managing to catch it, but it was too late. She landed on nothing, achieving nothing more than a spray of brown, twisted leaved. Frustrated with herself and her seeming inability to get the knack of this hunting, the young wolf began to make her way back to the den, following the game trails worn into the undergrowth of the forest. She'd try again later, and she'd manage it. She'd make herself manage it.

Shambala wandered out of the den, shaking out her fur as she did so. She had grown a little in the past weeks, becoming taller and stronger than the pup she had started as. She was finding a place in her pack, and no longer felt so much like an outsider. She could faintly hear the waterfall crashing down somewhere in the distance. She had visited it once or twice, but at this moment it held no interest to her. She was struggling to find something that did.
Idly, the black she-wolf picked up a lazy trotting gait. If she kept going, she would find something eventually. It was then that she hesitated, her nose twitching gently. She could smell something on the wind, the smell of another wolf. A familiar smell, so it didn't concern her. Pulling herself into more of a lope, Shambala followed the scent, interaction an appealling concept.

A small brown and grey wolf made her way out of the den and followed the slightly older black female. Aoede had come to think of the black wolf as her sister and playmate and didn't like being left behind. When the other had left the den the smaller female had followed her quietly, wondering where Shambala was heading off to.
Of course... she had to sneak past the watchful green eyes of her usual babysitter Ouranos. That had become second nature to her - she didn't realise, however, that the older wolf pretended not to notice her exits so that he could follow her later.
Her small form was beginning to fill out now, her puppy fur falling out as a thicker coat began to grow through to help protect her from the ravages of winter. She looked behind her, wondering if Melete would come along too...

Just as Aoede and Shambala sneaked out from the den, a smal black shape rushed to catch up with them. "Hey~! Wait for me~!" Melete called in what would have been a rather good attempt at a stage whisper. Scrambling along the path after her playmates, the dark pup caught up, panting slightly.
"Where we goin'?" she asked innocently, assuming that if both Aoede and Shambala were going somewhere, then she would of course be welcome to come along too.
Persephone picked her way along the path slowly, nosing at the various scents and sights that she picked up along the way. You never knew - some sort of opportunity might present itself. Maybe she'd ask one of the adults to give her some pointers when she got back. The albino wolf was now upwind from the den, so she didn't detect the scent of the pups until she was almost right on top of them.
Upon realising that the pups from the den were nearby, Persephone paused, a puzzled expression crossing her face. What were the young ones doing out here alone? No doubt they had seen her approach also - being white in colour didn't help with camoflage much. Nevertheless, she stepped out into full view, regarding the pups with open curiousity.
"What are you doing here?" she asked. There wasn't any anger in her tone - more puzzlement and perhaps a slight hint of worry.

Shambala was surprised at the sound of Melete's 'stage whisper', unaware until then that she's been followed. Aoede seemed to be the more stealthy between them. Bala didn't have too much time to be surprised however, when the source of the smell appeared before them. She had never had much of a chance to interact with Persephone, having only seen her around with the odd greeting for her. She tilted her head slightly before answering the question. "'Splorin' I guess." Bala liked to think of herself as a grown up wolf, but her adolescent temperment still lent itself to the more childish puppy. She may have grown taller, but she still had a lot to learn. "What 'bout you? You 'splorin' too?"

Aoede's grin widened as her sister followed and the Trio was completed as usual. The three had taken to spending a lot of time together - not unusual for siblings - except that they seemed to get into mischeif more often than they should wether deliberately or not.
Aoede was not really familiar with the white wolf. She was like a ghost who floated around the cave silently - not talking much to Aoede or her sisters - much like the other, the twin brother. Aoede didn't like being asked what she was doing - something seemed inherently... unfair about the question. As though someone had to know what she was doing, had to find out where she'd be so they could forbid her from it or 'make sure she was safe'. Aoede did not like to be babied.
Just as her sister had asked where they were going, so too did the older youth, Persephone. At least Persephone wasn't an adult, not really yet, Aoede thought. Surely this other young female knew it was fun to go out s'plorin'? "...Yeah we's splorin'" she said, answering both Persephone's and Melete's question at the same time. "Wasn't doin' nothin' in particlar'" she added, truthfully. She'd just wanted to be outside for a change and, although it was cold, it was relatively dry. Pups needed to learn about their environment and her instincts told her to go play in it.

((Sorry for not being around much at all. I have been somewhat busy with a lot of other things and I neglected this as a result.))
The rushing water from the nearby waterfall made an excellent mask to cover up any noises he might make to alert prey to his presence. Zagerus had taught him to use his surroundings to his advantage and so he had decided to hunt near the waterfall to use the background sounds for cover. It appeared to be working as Gavan continued to stalk a rather large hare. The smaller animal was content for the moment to be munching on some grass seemingly oblivious to the danger close at hand. Lifting his tail once more Gavan checked the direction of the wind, he most certainly did not want his prey to be alerted by his scent. Thankfully the wind was blowing right at him and the enticing smell of rabbit teased his senses. Slowly, carefully he moved ever closer. Each step a calculated movement, finally he felt he was in range, glancing left and right for other predators or anything else that might alert his prey he saw nothing and so returned his attentions completely back to the hare.
Moving into the pouncing position he readied his legs for maximum distance. Then he pounced his jaw opening and closing on soft fur. The panicked animal still wiggling in his mouth as he stood once more. Shaking it furiously he listened for the snapping noise that indicated he had broken it's neck. After a few moments more he heard it and stopped. Setting the kill down for a minute to revel in his glee at his first kill he quickly picked it back up making sure it was extremely secure and started back to the den at a moderate pace. It wasn't more than a few minutes later that he could pick up the strong scents of his sister and the rest of his pack. Noticing Persephone and the pups conversing just outside he walked up to them and set down his kill to join in. "Hello Perse, Bala, Aoede, Melete," he spoke nodding to each one in turn. "What are we all up to today?"

Oh, ok. So they were 'sploring again. That sounded like fun. As Aoede and Shambala spoke to the ghosty wolf, Melete bounced forward to stand next to Shambala. "Yeah!" she agreed whole-heartedly. "The den's borin'!" Just as she spoke, she caught sight of a small beetle scurrying in front of her. When something like that moved so close, it was asking to be pounced. Persephone forgotten for the moment, she dropped to a crouch before bouncing on top of the small black insect. And... missed. She scrabbled for a few moments, but it was too late. The beetle had fled into the undergrowth and disappeared. Standing up again, Melete pouted for a moment. "Aww... it got away.."
Looking up again, she paused. The two ghosty wolves were there now. Tilting her head for a moment, she wondered if 'ranos had sent them after the trio. Nah, he never did that. He always followed them himself, and it didn't seem like they were about to be sent back.
"We're 'sploring!" she replied to Gavan's question enthusiastically, echoing her sisters earlier answer to Persephone.
Persephone looked a little unsure for a moment, as if undecided on what to do. On the one hand, the pups didn't seem to be causing any trouble, and they weren't in any immediate danger. On the other... if their parents didn't know where they were, then they might be worried about them. She didn't just want to leave them to it, but at the same time, she knew that they probably wouldn't react well to her ordering them back to the den.
There was a brief pause while she sat down on her haunches and considered this. Maybe she'd need to use a different tact here.
"...Well... I was going to do some hunting practice. You three look like good hunters - do you want to help me out?" she asked, hesitantly at first, but then with a slow smile appearing on her maw. She didn't really know the pups very well, but she did like young ones. When she was younger, she had only had her brother around - she had never known many other pups. If they agreed, it might be fun to play with them for a while.
Just as she asked the question, a familiar scent came to her on the air. Sure enough, her brother appeared a few moments later, a fresh kill in his jaws. Smiling still, Persephone looked over at him. He had managed to make a kill, which was more than she had ever managed to do. Maybe he'd like to join in too - perhaps she could get some pointers from him. "Hi brother. I was just asking if everyone would like to practice some hunting. Would you like to come too?"

The ghostly colored male turned at the response from the gray pup. "Exploring?" he repeated in query. Then he paused listening to his sister as she attempted to find a way to watch the pups in a way that didn't make it look like that was what she was doing. Deciding to help her out he nodded to her in response to her question about weather or not he would assist her in teaching the pup some hunting skills. "That sounds like fun, I bet that between Persephone and myself we could show the three of you some pretty neat places to explore and find a squirrel or two while we're at it." Gavan stated he enjoyed playing with the pups and secretly would love it if one or more of them were to look up to him in a mentor sort of way or maybe as an older brother.
Walking further into the den area he lay his kill just outside of the cave they all slept in leaving it for later. Turning back towards the abbreviated version of his pack he took charge of the situation and moved to lead them. "Alright everyone now Zagerus once told me to use your surroundings to your advantage," Gavan began. "So I'll take us to a place with good natural distractions. It's also a fun place to explore, so I think we should all enjoy it for a while before we need to come back here. To the waterfall!"

Shambala tilted her head slightly as she listened to Gavan. "Yeah," she agreed, having poked around the waterfall herself. She liked it there, and often managed to be there when nobody else was. She found the sound of the water soothing. She waved her tail behind her at the thought of a group adventure. She, Aoede and Metele hadn't been on an adventure for a while, and it would be fun to try and get some hunting practise in. She'd tried before, but with limited luck. And surely Persephone and Gavan would be able to give them some pointers. She grimaced a little as her mind drifted back to the deer-hunting escapade and reflected that she could probably do with the instruction.

X3 Since things are getting a bit confusing we should prolly stick to a posting order. I think currently it's now... Ieyasu Miko633 Anakiro Alyosha
Aoede's small face lit up at the prospect of hunting with Persephone. As much as her mother and father had tried to impart some knowledge on her the silver tipped pup often felt they were boring and dull. Persephone, being an adolescent but not yet in the category of 'boring adult' was, she thought, the perfect person to teach her. Aoede's enthusiasm grew as the other ghostly pale wolf arrived.
"Perse's gonna teach us to hunt!" she said, gleefully. When the white male suggested the waterfall she was doubly enthused. She had not yet been there, having mostly explored to the south of the den. Her mother had muttered dire warning about deep, fast moving water but the pup considered that she would be allowed if she and Melete were accompanied by the three adolescents - Shambala, although Aoede considered her a sister, was just that little bit older than herself and Mel and was allowed further it seemed. "Yayyyy~! Waterfall, waterfall!" she warbled, her small tail wagging abck and forth excitedly. She ran past Gavan, Persephone and her siblings towards the direction she knew the waterfall lay in.

Really? They were going to learn how to hunt? And be able to see the waterfall too?? This was so cool! Bouncing up and down on the spot, the small dark female practically exuded excitement.
"Really? You mean it?" she asked enthusiastically. "This is gonna be soooo much fun!" Spinning around on the spot, she ran after Aoede. "Race ya there!" she called to everyone else. Nevermind that she didn't know exactly where the waterfall was. It was up this way.. kinda. She was sure she'd find it. What's more, she would get there first if she could help it.
"Wait just a.." Persephone trailed off as the pups took off in the direction of the waterfall. This was going to be a little harder than she thought. With a glance to Gavan, the albino female smiled ruefully. "I think we're going to be kept busy today.." Turning back, she bounded forward, breaking into a lope. At least the pups were small enough that she'd be able to keep up with them mostly. Trying to keep the pups within sight, she scrambled up the trail towards the waterfall at the northern end of the packlands.
"Wait up!" she called after them. Hopefully they wouldn't charge on too far ahead..

Gavan smiled that the expressions he got from the pups. Apparently he had made a very good suggestion, he watched for a moment as the pups ran off in the direction of the waterfall with Aoede leading and Shambala and Melete not far behind. It was then that Persephone turned to him and remarked that it would likely be a busy day, "When isn't it?" he replied. Breaking off into a run to catch up to the kids he made sure to stay behind them enough to let them have their fun. He found it amusing that Persephone was trying to keep them in line.
They were kids and they were having fun. The were pretty fast too Gavan was having to run pretty quick to keep up with them. This was extremely enjoyable and he decided that they should do this more often. He could hear the water rushing before he could see it and knew that they were close. "Alright Aoede, Melete, Shambala the finish line is that big fern bush up there stop just after you get to it!" he called to them not wanting the pups to get too close to the rushing water.

(( Miko, just a heads up, Sham's an adolescent (ie. not a pup like Aoede and Melete) and she didn't run anywhere, she was still standing with Gavan and Perse ^_~ I'll roll with her running with the pups though =) ))
Shambala loped along behind her sisters, not having to run quite as fast to keep up with them. And, to be honest, she didn't mind about not being in front. It was strange, up until maybe a few weeks ago she would be racing Aoede for the lead, but now she just enjoyed being around them. Maybe she was getting lazy?
Then she heard Gavan's voice behind them. Stop at the fern? Pfft, she still didn't appreciate being told what to do. By her reckoning, there was only one or two wolves who could tell her what to do and be obeyed. So, upon reaching the fern bush the black wolf continued, making her way towards the water, padding her paws into it as she reached the edge. She knew not to get too far, it certainly didn't sound too safe. She then turned back to the other wolves, swinging her tail contentedly.

Aoede, too, did not much appreciate being told what to do. that's what adults did and Gavan was not an adult and so could not tell the pup to do anything! She giggled as she raced past the fern, following Shambala into the water, splashing it up around her. It was freezing cold and she quickly ctomped back out, trying to heat herself back up by shaking the droplets off herself in a wide spray, her small for shivering but cheerful. She began to run in circles as she waited for the two larger white wolves to arrive, keeping her body warm, getting it ready for hunting!
Her eyes glowed at the prospect. She had heard the adults talk of hunting, had seen their pleasure when they killed something large or brought something back to the den for the pups. She wanted to be part of that glory! She did not, howeve really have a clue where to begin. She'd never admit that, though.
"C'moooonnnn" she whined impatiently.
