Sasuke allowed his feet to guide him, having no clue the destination. He kept his mind occupied with thoughts of Itachi, wondering how fast it would be before he caught up. With their level of energy, Sasuke imagined that it wouldn't be long. He passed from tree to tree with the sound of wind in his ears, the tunnels of green finally taking the shape of a path he had taken a month ago, though presently feeling like a longer time ago. They were heading towards the training grounds, most likely abandoned and empty.
The image of Itachi flashed across his mind again, the piercingly cold gaze, the strange, emotionless face. He shivered, even feeling the strong killing aura that his brother held. He chuckled humorlessly, wondering what the villagers would think spotting the two dead bodies of Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto in the training grounds. 'After Naruto's second hopeless attempt to keep the prodigee Sasuke in Konoha, the two attacked eachother, finally killing eachother'?
He turned around, checking if Naruto was still following. He frowned to see that the blonde was actually smiling.
"Are you suicidal?" Sasuke hissed.

For being as exhausted and overspent as he was, Naruto’s endless supply of stamina rumor seemed to kick in and stay true. When adrenaline took hold of him, it was like nothing could bring him down, not until his last breath had been breathed. What chakra he could muster with a whimsical thought, it gathered in his legs and he easily moved to catch up with the Uchiha. Surprised with his own action, he sent a glance to the one beside him after the noting the glance shot at him. Golden bangs, which had managed to grow a little, danced in the night breeze as they moved against it at a quick pace.
“No, I was just thinking…” the Kyuubi vessel mused, lips curling into a more imposing smile as his head turned back to look ahead of him. Taking the lead now, he pushed himself further, heeding now care to his bodily limits just like always. He couldn’t feel Itachi’s chakra just yet, and it was a good sign, but as he remembered Itachi the smile instantly turned into a grim scowl. Luckily, he was ahead of Sasuke by now, so it was hidden. Being first to exit the treetops and to land on the training ground, he landed and stumbled. Lacking all grace or elegance he might have had, he rolled and sprawled, panting some. The blonde had pushed himself more then he shoulder have.
“Why…” the younger of the two breathed once he had been reached by the Uchiha, “was he coming here?!” The second part of the question was growled, quite loudly. Loud enough for it to echo; even if only slightly. Completely oblivious to the others in the training grounds, he didn’t hold back on anything he said. “What he said was a complete lie, he has to have hidden motives…” Looking to the raven haired boy, he bit down upon his lower lip before looking away and back to the moon. ’Itachi has to be after Kyuubi…’ he though, a worried expression slowly forming across his facial features. It never suited the blonde, looking worried that was. He sported a smile better then anything else, and that was that. He had grown used to have the Kyuubi in him, both for his abilities and for the company when alone. Once again, lost deep in thought, he even forgot that the younger Uchiha was close by him.

Disregarding Naruto's strange behavior, Sasuke placed more energy to his next leap, taking the lead. Up ahead, he spotted a clearing. Though a bad place for their situation, he sped up, pushing his body to the limits in hopes of somehow finding someone. He checked behind him once again to see how the blonde was faring, only to realize he was right behind the Uchiha, looking half as tired as Sasuke felt. For a second, annoyance kicked in as he wondered how Naruto could be like this. First, he was smiling dispite the fact that Itachi was chasing after them, now he looked full of enough energy to swim around the world twice, none-stop.
They were about a hundred feet from the clearing now. The light in front of him blinded him. As they drew closer, Sasuke could feel his heart suddenly thudding in his ribcage, as if in warning to head towards some other direction. He persisted, dragging his body through. The light in front of him grew brighter, as well as a shock through his body, fortelling a negative event. In the last second, he slid off of the branch, changing course and diving for the bushes underneath.
Above him, trees russled once again. Sasuke glanced up, alert. Was it Itachi? No, it couldn't be...
And then, he realized that Naruo wasn't next to him. He dived below without telling the blonde.
