On the outskirts of Phib's packlands, a small navy-blue figured weaved around the trees carefully, making sure not to walk too fast. Mavis had just gotten back from his little venture to find his mother. It had been a failure "mission." His other half had been busy taunting him about the next time he snuck away without his father's permission. Mavis knew he was going to be an adult soon, but until then he would have to follow his father's and Phib's orders from now on. The adolescent paused for a few seconds to sniff the air delicately. Mavis knew that his other half would want to get out soon, but he kept the wall between them firm. He remembered the last time Dämon had gotten loose and it wasn't very pretty.
Twitching an orange-rimmed ear, he gazed around the area, as if expecting another wolf to pop out. His father would be looking for him around this area. Flit was an organized wolf. He usually looked for his son in sectors of the packlands. Since he had been gone for so long, Flit may have already reached the edge of the packlands by now. Tensing up his body, he felt Dämon's conscience started to rise towards the barrier. Something you want? he asked his darker half in a bitter tone of voice. Dämon chuckled and pressed himself up against the barrier. Just wondering when you are going to let me have a chance to meet Phib, taunted Dämon. Mavis instinctively bristled the orange fur along his spine at his darker half's cold words. Not until you learn to controll yourself, retorted Mavis. Dämon rolled his eyes and slunk to the back of his lighter half's mind. Suit yourself. Mavis nodded his head and turned his attention back to his surroundings.

Sluggishly, the dirty brown male found himself pulling out of his slumber. He liked to think that the recent bouts of sleep had nothing to do with the disappointment both he and Mozelle were feeling- but Gareth, who always saw impending doom just about anywhere, was not willing to let that slip by so easily. He heaved and leaned himself to the side of a niche, wondering what was to be done about it. Couldn’t go to Phib, that was for sure. His father barely understood him as it was. And as much as he would have appreciated the other man’s advice, he didn’t want him to know that a disaster he was. As if he already didn’t know, Gareth supposed.
The lean male rose up onto his feet and shook his coat off, his vibrant green eyes fluttering around his surroundings once. It seemed that he was alone- but upon another sweep, his eyes caught sight of a navy blue form in the distance. Gareth shifted his jaw and looked about for any others. When no one popped up- he submissively approached. “He-hello,” The brown wolf smiled vacantly. “Sorry. Didn’t see you there before.”

Mavis nearly jumped in the air when he heard a voice calling to him. He quickly glanced around to see a dark-brown hued male approaching him, his posture submissive. He flicked his ears slightly as he watched the male curiously. 'He reeks of Phib and a lone femme,' Dämon said to Mavis in a curious tone of voice. The young male narrowed his dark-maroon eyes at the thought of him coming out to talk to Gareth. Shaking his head slightly, he pushed Dämon to the back of his mind and put up a barrier to prevent his darker half from getting out.
"You have no need to apologize. I didn't see you approach. I thought that this place was abandoned. Pardon me if I act strange. It is just the nature of my personality." He hoped that Dämon wouldn't try to get free of the barrier. The darker half wanted to meet the Alpha for so long that he had given up trying to fight Dämon. Flicking his orange-tipped ear, he gazed around to see if he could see if the scent of the femme on Gareth's pelt was present. Seeing no other wolf, he let his tail droop down towards his hindlegs and he lowered his head slightly. He knew the older wolf had more authority over him since he was only a adolescent male. "What brings you to this neck of the woods?" he asked Gareth in a soft voice. He hadn't seen this wolf before so he assumed that he was sent by someone to find him.

If Gareth carried more rank then Flit’s son, he didn’t show it. The male sulked and lowered himself closer to the ground, a bit careful of Mavis’s strange inflections now and then. “Oh, you know...” He started, somewhat uneasily. “Doing this and that. Hiding, actually.” He admitted, and rubbed one of his tattered ears with his paw.
“You haven’t seen Phib about here, have you?” His head craned upwards, and he looked about. Luckily whenever he was, Amélie usually wasn’t far off his heels. Of course- he was still somewhat terrified of Amélie in his own right, but at least he had finally decided to allow her to be about.
“Hard to abandon a place though.” The brown wolf mused on. “Like this I mean. Pack always shifting...and...Oh, I’m sorry. I am Gareth.”

Mavis canted his head to one side as he watched Gareth crouch down close to the ground, as if he was a lower rank that he was. He had always thought that the adults were a higher ranking than the younger wolves. Flicking an ear, he straightened his posture slightly, but kept his head and tail down low. He didn't want to give the other wolf any ideas that he had authority over him.
"Hiding from Phib?" he asked the other male curiously. Shaking his head, he flicked an orange-tipped ear. "Haven't seen Phib in some time. Father might know, but Father is gone right now." Mavis' maroon eyes settled on the tattered ears of Gareth, the young wolf wondering how he got the scarring.
"Huh?" he asked in a confused tone of voice as he almost missed the statement Gareth said. Was it really hard to get away from this place? He had done so many times, but he had always came back. "Pack always shifting? What do you mean with that?" He bobbed his head slightly when he heard the other male's name and decided to give Gareth his own. "Mavis. I don't recall every hearing your name, Gareth. Are you a new wolf?" The only wolves that he knew where in Phib's pack where his father, Amélie, and another wolf his father was taking care of. He flicked his ears again, wondering if his darker half was watching this. He shuddered slightly, not wanting to look if Dämon really was looking.
