For me, seeing what I saw of Spelling Bee and DRS, it made me really want to see them. (not that that will happen any time soon, being where I am and without any money to speak of)

And as far as the Sondheim tribute is concerned, I honestly expected more from it. Hugh didn't seem to put much emotion into it, and the diva looked and sounded like she had no clue what she was doing. And Hugh's dancing song at the beginning just seemed to me to be way too random and unnecessary.

Because of him doing stuff like that the dramas cannot be showcase as they originally were before Hugh Jackman started hosting the awards.

Right then. I officially vote Hugh Jackman out of the hosting seat. *Pulls out picket signs* Bring Back Drama Showcase!

I missed most of the Tonys because I was in the band for my high school's graduation ceremony, then I had to find all my friends and throw myself in their arms and cry about how much I was going to miss them, threaten them with death if they didn't come back to see me, blah blah blah.

I got home pretty far into the festivities, so I was kind of out of touch with who won and everything. I really wasn't that surprised that Spamalot won. I didn't really want it to win, but I just knew. Come on, it's Monty Python. I generally don't like revivals too well, but I really would have liked to have seen "La Cage" win. I didn't know many of the others in the running. I know my director saw "Spelling Bee" on a trip to New York and thought it was one of the most adorable things she'd ever seen.

I was really upset with Hugh Jackman's hosting. This was his second year in a row. Last year, ok, I could understand it, he was in a show. Still not that stellar. But two years in a row, it's just old.

La Cage did win - Best Revival of a Musical. If you're not sure who won what, go here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=499967. ^_^

I think this was Hugh Jackman's 3rd year hosting. The reason why he "has this right" to host the award show is because he was a big name in England theatre and such before coming over to America to do movies. He's an annoying show off that takes up too much time of the show.

His 3rd year are you kidding me? gonk

Sorry for being sort of out of it. I've only been a Broadway freak for the past 2 years, if it's evident. Before then, it was strictly Shakespeare.

As for La Cage winning, yay La Cage! ^_^ I feel better now.

As for why I didn't tape it, my VCR is a POS that has a mind of it's own, doesn't like any VHS except one which used to tape my mom's soaps, but now it doesn't even do that. I seriously need one of those dual DVD-VCR things. I miss watching CATS and The Nightmare Before Christmas and all my other awesome VHS tapes.

I enjoyed all of the performances by the musicals (except for the Sweet Charity one because Christina Applegate can't sing well). My favorite performances were the La Cage one and the Putnam one (that was cute ^^)
