`Andy

I guess I would have to hope to be married into or be from a rich family then, wouldn't I?

Don't we all wish for that, though?

ha ha... how ironic... im studying up on china for academic decathlon this year...

any of these names sound familiar?

mao zedong (this one should)
Chiang Kai shek
Hu yaobang
Pu Yi
the fists of rightous harmony

YAY FOR COMMY CHINA!

I know the first two and am not sure about the fourth one.Mao was of course chinas communist leader and chiang Kai shek was the democratic leader who fled to taiwan and i think Pu Yi was some king of China.
Correct me if i am wrong. wink

I think that China also invented the navigation compass and the water wheel. China was also the first country to visit North America.
Edit: After some research, the Romans invented the water wheel, but the Chinese did invent the compass.

Another fun fact:
there is a river in china named the yellow river.
this is because of the minerals that make the river seem golden/yellow, but the name still makes me chuckle.

and also, on population control:
there are 1 billion people in china, the government isn't doing too great of a job.

There are now over 2 billion people there...

Did you know that if: The population of China walked past you, 8 abreast, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction.

Blood`Eternity
Grenades were invented in China over 1,000 years ago.

Robert Morrison was the first Protestant to introduce Christianity in China. He arrived in Canton in 1807. From that time until 1949, hundreds of sending agencies sent thousands of missionaries to serve in China. China was a difficult mission field; converts came slowly. In 1949 there were no more than 750,000 Protestant Christians in China. After all the foreign missionaries left China in the early 1950s and all religious institutions were closed from about 1966 because of the Cultural Revolution, it was feared that Christianity might have died out once again. But, when the churches began to open up in 1979 it was discovered, even to the Chinese Christians’ amazement, that there were at least 6 million Christians. No longer foreign, all Chinese churches are just that: indigenous Chinese churches, and thousands of Chinese, young and old, are turning to Christ every day.

How unfortunate...

Not so much quota as restriction...and to my knowledge yes. But it isn't strictly enforced. The government mostly encourages it greatly....as far as I know. I'm not chinese.

Sounds like they're about ready to have a nice big social downfall though...
