I have something important to say but I don't know if this goes here:
I was told that I can get a job ANYWHERE if I stay in Ontario (a province) because Ontarian English is recognized as the best everywhere apparently as in, if you are here it is easier and often better to get a job in other countries like Singapore because it apparently has the best teaching or whatever.
I was told that because I asked about what's better: university in Japan or in Canada. And my guidance counsillor said here, in Ontario because in other countries, getting a degree or whatever in other countries is NOT a guarantee that you can work in others. So she said stay here (I am going to be an English Teacher but I have to teach something else too so I may take French).
Short, she said that go to university in Ontario Canada for a better chance at teaching English elsewhere. And she said I could get one in Japan but I'd have to do something like be an assistance or something. But to get my Certificate of Education here.
So if anyone is interested and is still in high school, deciding where to go, I would say try to come to Ontario, Toronto or Ottawa is better because those are two major cities.

Aiko_589 Quote: Working with a student visa Students must first prove that they can support themselves with out having to work in order to get the student visa. This includes getting a guarantor in Japan. Then to be eligible to work you have to go to the local immigration office and get special permission which takes the form of a new stamp! You can now work a certain amount of hours per month. This process can take a few months but if you indicate that you need to work immediately the process can be speeded up. Does it take 3 months or not? In Tokyo it was issued almost immediately to this writer. An immigration office in a different city advised that it would take a few months! Check your local immigration office for further details. Do you suppose a japanese boyfriend/girlfriend could be a guarantor? meaning they would declare that they would be supporting the person applying for the visa, should they need it. Would that be sufficient? or would the emmigration people assume that's not enough, seeing as the applicant could be left without support if the relationship ended. :s Also, if someone was making money through something like ebay, while living in Japan, would that have to be declared?

Agent Kaori hieiandkurama Thank you for the information. I have both American and Canadian citizen, so if I wanted to immigrate, I can probably do it through my Canadian citizenship. Cool!!! I have both citizanships too!! Anyways I have a question, I want to move to Japan to study in a university specially focused on manga and anime (If your wondering I want to be a manga artist in the future wink ) so do you know any good universities in Japan for that??? lolz. I don't think anything like that exists XD

I'd like to live there but I doubt that'll ever happen even if I do marry my Japanese boyfriend... since he's on a visa to live here in the US.

Alma_Libre I'd like to live there but I doubt that'll ever happen even if I do marry my Japanese boyfriend... since he's on a visa to live here in the US. Yep most japanese that have lived outside japan seem to dread the thought of going back there. Luckily I dont have that problem as 1. my boyfriend is 1/2 german so can live anywhere in europe (im from UK) and 2. my boyfriend is in a band, and 2 of the other members have already used up their study visa years in the UK, so he has to live in japan for now smile
