the bible says women should have long hair as a covering and not to cover theiur hair-i have long hair and my church follows this but i'd really love to cover up with a veil or something and not have guys pawing my long hair, and have privacy, but its almost like taboo wearing veils.is it right to wear a veil as a christian?

I think it depends...if guys "paw" your hair just as being nice, or your hair is soft, or to me it feels like heaven...then i don't see anything wrong with it. But if it's for another...more sexual reason and you know it i would take my hair, wet it good, and use it as a whip.
I think covering yourself up is really important. Not only for your modesty but also for your fellow brother to help them not stumble. smile

Isn't that more of an Old Testament thing? Just like when it says not to get any piercings or tattoos. I believe it falls into that kind of rule...But I could be wrong. Personally, I don't really like the idea of a veil, but that's just me.

PoppyDadswell because the bible says that its wrong for women to cover their hair, but i'm wondering if thats just when in church and when praying. Actually, it's the opposite (women were told to cover their head), but, regardless, in those times, a woman's hair was part of her sexuality, so a woman in those days showing up without something over her hair would be tantamount to someone walking in in some extremely skimpy outfit. Now, I'm not much of one for dress codes (I think that they take the focus off of God in far to many cases), but it's important to show respect for the house of the Almighty, which is what that verse is about.

It is in the New Testament last time I checked, and it is right for women to have long hair and a veil. The Bible says a womans long hair is her glory and is A covering, but it is noth THE covering which should be worn. It goes on saying that if the woman does not wear covering, then it is shameful and she may as well be shorn (ie, hair is not the covering, as if she removes her hair she can't remove it once its gone) A woman should be covered while praying, some take that to mean just in church and while activly in prayer time, others cover all the time.
It is wrong for a man to cover during praying.
Ther is something called the headship order or something, but I forgot about that, I'll look it up in my bible!
