Hello, and yes! This is an Aizawa shrine!

So I recently finished the manga and have fallen in love with the series all over again. While reading, Aizawa caught my interest a lot. I wasn't surprised that he didn't have a shrine here because he isn't as pretty as the other characters. Still, this, by no means, makes him any less inferior than anyone else.

What I like best about Aizawa is his realism. Certainly, the Death Note series is a very realistic one with only a very subtle supernatural twist. Still, some of the main characters all have an unrealistic edge to them. Aizawa is the kind of guy you could see on the street. And the way he interacts and reacts to the entire Kira case just happened to hit home for me.

It's touching how extremely dedicated he is to the case, despite his suspicions. He's steadfast and loyal to the case and to those working on it. He tries his best in everything and genuinely wishes to capture Kira, even when he finds out who it really is-that's his rock-solid sense of justice speaking. Even when he knows he can't do anything to further the real Kira case, he tries anyway and does what he can, despite the anguish of knowing that he really can't do much else but wait. He reminds me of a loyal brother, a reliable friend, and a supporting father. And I love that about him.

I realize I'm a bit obscure on certain parts when describing him, but if I went any more specific, they'd count as spoilers. ><

So anyway... Discuss! Aizawa and his greatness!

I agree with you. Aizawa was a great character, definitely the most well developed member of the task force besides Matsuda. It was kinda tragic that he kept coming up with good ideas, which were promptly shot down by those that were higher up on the food chain. By this I mean the times when Near said something to the effect that he couldn't do anything about the case, as well as the fact that Light didn't even consider him to be a threat. It was just depressing that he was putting his life on the line to defend his beliefs, even though he was too unimportant to even do that.

Besides that, though, he had an awesome 'fro.

Mm, yes. Fortunately, his fro was really that outstanding, otherwise it would've been hard to distinguish him. I mean, Matsuda's the cute one, Mogi's the...ogre? And Aizawa.. Well, I guess he could pass as the normal guy without the fro, but he's much better off as a serious Nabeshin xD

I agree - I kinda wished we could have had more on him. I mean he appeared to have so much story... which we just weren't told about.

Yay finally!! 3nodding I really love Aizawa, I just don't know why not much people pay attention to him. He's a great character!! heart just because he isn't so hot like the other characters doesn't mean he gets left behind scream

Aizawa is cool. biggrin I mean, yeah, of the task force (to me this only includes light's dad, matsuda, mogi, and aizawa. I don't even care about the other guy...whoever he was.) he isn't my most favorite but he was still cool. Randomly I'll start calling my bird Aizawa and he gets mad (apparently Fred doesn't like him.)

The more I got into the series, I was surprised at how much I liked him. And I normally like the underdog girls, pretty boys, and people in glasses. D:

He was the hardass who wasn't completely seduced by Raito. By the end of the series I was cheering him on more then Near. xD

DN is one of them series' where all the characters rock, even the supporting charas! Aizawa is great. I always had a soft spot for the task force, he and Matsuda are the coolest, defintely!

yay for Aizawa! I agree, it doesn't have to be the pretty/hot charas that are the most interesting. I would love to see a series where all the main charas are really ugly, incidentally. But on topic: yah. His 'fro is the shizz!

His afro hair reminds me of Misa's comment when he got his new haircut xD

I'll admit that Aizawa isn't my favorite character, but i liked pretty much every character in the series (there actually aren't that many characters). Aizawa is one of those types of characters that are left on the backburner to burn out on. And it's not exactly fair. I can see effort in the creator to try to bring him and the investigation team into main focus, though. There are certain parts that play off for each character highly, though (out of Matsuda, Mogi, and Aizawa) the one that seemed to be the main focus was Matsuda, next to Mogi and Aizawa. I think he should have got more showtime than he did...

Aizawa was probably the most rational of the members. He took everything into consideration, including Light being Kira, even though he may not have wanted to believe it. Because of this ability, he didn't end up like Matsuda, who believed whole-heartedly in Light. Mogi was kinda on the in between, and went whichever way he was pulled with more proof. But Aizawa made his own decisions without anyone's complete help. I did like that about him. I don't like that he's too serious, especially when (s-htr) Misa was whining about Light being chained to L, and he jumped up yelling that they shouldn't "kiddy" around or something like that. It really showed to me that he was WAY too serious for my likings..

And i actually miss his afro.. It really set him appart from the other characters and made him even more unique.

Not many of the characters in the series can really be called "bishi", though everyone makes alot of them out to be (i'm guilty also..). Not even L, who everyone likes so much (he's my fav too) was mean't to be considered a bishi. If you read some of the the interviews with the creators, they mean't him to be the complete polar opposite of Light in every way possible except for their level of intelligence, and they intended on making him "unnatractive" (that worked out well, eh fangirls? XD I love him the way he his myself). I'm not sure of the intentions for Matsuda, except that he was mean't to be the gullible, happy-go-lucky type. Mogi was mean't to be the broad type, and Aizawa was supposed to be the serious type. Soichiro was supposed to be semi-serious and the father-image type. I'm not even sure if Light was mean't to be "attractive." I mean.. have you seen his moodswings? When he gets major ones, he doesn't look like himself... Sometimes, to me, he doesn't even look human! (especially once he gains a little age). As for Mello and Near, (s-htr) there was no complete direction for them except to "make them like L", hence why Mello is obsessed with chocolate and sits with his right leg up alot, and Near is obsessed with playing with toys and sits with his left leg up alot. Both are as smart as the other but take action in different ways (Mello being too active and Near waits around alot, contemplating what should and will happen next.) In short, they were mean't to be like L, which doesn't mean they were supposed to be "cute" or "hot" or anything..
Basically, all this means, is their appearance has no meaning except to decide them from each other and give them a smaller heightening in their personality expectation. Things just happen, and everyone has their own level of believing in something as "cute" or "hot," while others disregard that completely and believe in the personality of the character for everything, and some mix (that's what i do).

I don't think Aizawa is cute or hot or anything of that type, but, on his personality alone, he is a really cool character (that shouldn't be taken too lightly).
