Since not everyone in the guild and on Gaia live in the USA I thought people might like to know where they can go find out their home-countrys stance on the Abortion issue. All the profiles are downloadable word-files so you can save em to your computer for easy acess. Country ProfilesIt's a UN-website from 2002 so i don't know how accurate the information is but i'm assuming most countries don't spontaenously change their laws. But if anyone can find a more recent site that lists the legality of abortion in other countries that'd be great.

For my county:
To save the life of the woman Yes To preserve physical health No To preserve mental health No Rape or incest No Foetal impairment No Economic or social reasons No Available on request No
sad (((
And I know for a FACT that a lot of doctors would not respect that "To save the life of the woman" law. My country sucks!!!

Article About South AfricaWomen On Waves is "a Dutch non-profit organization concerned with women's human rights. Its mission is to prevent unwanted pregnancy and unsafe abortions throughout the world." Basically, they have a ship that they use to provide abortions to women in countries where it is illegal. Be warned, though: They fight fire with fire. The page titled "facts" has a disturbing picture of a woman who died trying to abort by herself. Don't go there if you're sensitive to things like that.

Does anyone know if the laws reguarding abortion are looser in the UK than in the US? From what I've seen on info sites, the US is looser, but I've heard from people in the UK that the laws are way stricter there. Plus it would make since that the UK be looser since things are so much more conservative here than there.

"Grounds on which abortion is permitted

"[...]Schools have been required to provide sex education since 1970, and since 1991, accompanied by official guidelines for teachers, sex education has been an integral part of the health education curriculum. The Family Planning Association, which is a longstanding proponent of quality sex education for all, promotes family planning, sexual well-being and reproductive health and views sexual knowledge as a human right, vital to personal and social life."
Yay for living in Denmark 4laugh
