I never quite noticed it before, but save for a few threads every now and again that lighten the mood, it's mainly "oppression this" and "nobody understands me that". I swear, I'd think we'd be off reading beatnik-emo hybrid poetry if I hadn't lurked/been here so long and were ace meself.
So, just as a tribute to lightheartedness, how 'bout a thread for the people who UNDERSTAND us? The people who like to make jokes and aren't offended by every last thing?
I have no clue if this has been done before, but this forum's slow and too serious and I don't like it!
xd So, let's talk about something a tad happier, yeah?
Anyway, on that note, I've got a grand story that I personally find funny. This Japanophile in my Sculpture class (Japanophile meaning those people who are so... saturated... in everything Asian that they seem to believe that anything Japanese is the Messiah, and are very scary) made some club called the Kawaii Baka Club. When I asked him why anyone would want to join a club whose title made absolutely no sense (cute stupid? WTF?), he kept trying to find ways to chastise me on every little thing. Well, our school has a meet for the Rainbow club during advisory, and when I was mentioning this to someone else in said class, he felt he needed to butt in:
"Rainbow Club!? Reminds me of the KBC in that it makes no sense."
"It makes sense."
"How?" *typical know-it-all-Japanophile-eye-roll*
"Well, the rainbow happens to be the symbol for gay pride."
"..It's for gay people?"
"It's for everyone. It's for tolerance."
"...There's gay people in it?"
"Yes. Yes, there are."
He then got extremely homophobic and weirded out, and my friend and I laughed, cried, etc etc.
Soyes. Japanophiles suck, especially the even more narrow-minded homophobic lot. Anyone else want to share? :{D
