Roe'Kahn. This surname lingers in the memories of few Malu. The family, once known for their medicinal herbs and miraculous cures, have gone. Vanished, they say, out of thin air.

Well, not really. There is no mystery about the Roe'Kahn family's sudden disappearance. Many years ago, the specialist family lived close to an oasis, behind a waterfall a little far off from the temple. Here, they organised a store, and marketed off their goods as they praised their God... the almighty master of healing and purity. The God of Water.
They followed this God, preached his teachings to their young, and the Roe'Kahn thrived. Business was prosperous. They were skilled practitioners, and treated their customers with care. The herbs and spices they grew were rich and nurtured well.
Little fawns were born. Everyone was happy.

What a life they led. Nothing could go wrong.

Then it came. The fire. It swept through the forest, flames licking greedily at the Roe'Kahn's home. There was smoke. There were screams, and coughs, and cries. A weeping child, clawing at the earth, begging to be saved. Begging to be spared.
But the ones whom had brought the fire with them did not call back the flames. The thieves, bent on destroying the precious Roe'Kahn family herbs, fed the flames with their laughter. The fire was encouraged, and burned with new strength.
Those who dared fight the flames were burnt. Those who dove into the water for solace were murdered by the bandits, who held spears in their teeth. Those who hid, quivering behind the waterfall, were slowly suffocated by the thick smoke that billowed into the cave's entrance.
For the Roe'Kahn, the large, prosperous family of medicine Malu, this was their condemnment. Within only an hour, the entire family was dead.
The thieves, satisfied with their job, left for home. The whole family had been taken care of. They could never rise again.

Or so they thought.

Kaelin's footsteps were light as she bounded home, a small sack of fresh herbs dangling from her mouth. She had been out with her youngest brother, Meht, and had, on her eldest brother's instructions, fetched some fresh medicinal ingredients for their mother to use. However, as she and Meht approached the waterfall, they stopped.

There was nothing. Nothing but bodies, and burnt leaves. The waterfall itself ran red, the blood of dead relatives upstream flowing downstream.

Meht paused, and Kaelin's heart shuddered with pain and grief.

"I'm scared, Kaelin..."

"Meht," Kaelin turned, tears springing into her eyes, "Ssssshhh..."

"Why aren't they moving, Kaelin?"

"I don't know."

"Who did this, Kaelin?"

"I don't know."

They were silent for a moment, their breath rattling over the deathly silence that had settled over their once beautiful home. The only other noise was the gentle hiss of the waterfall, it's melody playing as it always had. But, to Kaelin's ears, it no longer brought 'peace' to mind. It, instead, sounded sinister.

There seemed to be nothing left. That was, until Meht spotted the letter.

"Kaelin!"

He trotted up to the bank of the red stream, and dipped his muzzle into the water.

"Meht, don't touch the water!" Kaelin bolted to her brother's side, running on shaking legs, "Don't touch it, Meht!"

"But Sister..." Meht pulled out a dripping sheet of paper. On it were written words. The words were smudged by the waters of the river, but Kaelin could still make out the letters on the message.
Kaelin's heart sank. It had been written in her eldest brother's handwriting. The letter was also stained with blood. Was her brother... could he have been...?

"What does it say, Sis?" Meht whispered, his voice slicing through Kaelin's thoughts.

She read it aloud:

"Drown the fire, Kaelin."

Meht frowned.

"What does that mean, Sister?"

"I... don't know..." Kaelin sank to her knees. She wasn't worried about the letter now. All she could think about was her elder brother. Her parents and relatives had less hope of being alive... but her elder brother had left her a note. Had he survived?...

"Sister, you didn't read it all," Meht nudged her gently, and pointed to the bottom of the letter.

Kaelin flinched, and turned her gaze to the paper.
The words she read next pulsed through her body. They were important words. She could feel it.

"You are the water."

And with those words, her journey took flight...

Water. [x]

Kaelin's heart. This water represents the conflict residing in the Malu's own heart... as a fawn, her heart was still, and beat easily. It was content, and as calm as still water. Life was simple, happy. She learnt and grew. However, tragedy struck, and Kaelin's clear, pure heart became tainted with a deep darkness. These feelings she had discovered as her family was lost bore deep inside her. Her still, calm heart - like a pool of water - became rippled. She moved, like running water, like ripples over a pond. Kaelin needed to shift in order to become an adult... in order to begin to act, in order to strike revenge for her family and home. And in order to shift, she needed to move from her calm, still lifestyle, and create some ripples.

Fire. [x]

The hatred that resides in Kaelin. Kaelin wishes to 'extinguish' the fire, and bring back her family's honour in doing so. To do this, she must wear her false disguise... the disguise as one who follows the 'God of Fire'. Doing this, she hopes to someday sneak into the 'Nature Pack', and find the ones who destroyed everything she loved as a fawn. The fire is Kaelin's disguise, Kaelin's passionate hatred, and her fiery spirit.

Spork. [x]

While Kaelin was born as a 'Spoon', she must disguise herself to fit in with 'Forks'. Therefore, she changes into a 'Spork'... and becomes somewhere in between the two. Strange metaphor, but trust me on this one. xD

The heart is like a soul, and it too yearns for love...
