Hey Guys, it's everyones favourite... somethign or other, Me, Tenaku ^^ Anywho I just downloaded Thunderbird to accompany my Firefox rowser, but I'm not a computer wiz and I wasn't sure about a couple things when setting up my account for it. For the e-mail address, what do I input for that, my old e-mail addy, or something new? And how do I know my out going and ingoing servers? Neon I bet you know something about this so if you do please help. Also if anyone else uses Thunderbird I wouldn't mind a few comments or opinions before I make up my mind to use it full time or not.

I tried using thunderbird years ago, never quite understood it myself, maybe there is a helpful guide somewhere that could be found using a search engine?

It depends on what kind of E-Mail account your using. if you've ever used Microsoft's Outlook Express then just put into Thunderbird what you put into that. But if your looking to use it with something else like hotmail/GMail/Yahoo Mail. Then you have to get the "POP and IMAP" addresses for them. For E-Mail address just put in the E-Mail you want to use with Thunderbird and then put in the POP and IMAP server addresses when it askes for them.

As I have said before, I am not 1337 and have no idea what POP and IMAP addresses are. How can I find out what they are? Oh and I have never used Outlook express u.u

If I'm not incorrect, I'm thinking your Pop and IMAP are the addresses you have to send things through. You have to have a server deliver your messages and a server to send them through. I've used out-look before though mainly because I came to believe that the thunderbird application I had was defective biggrin

Ohh, I don't think Hotmail works with external clients... only it's webmail service...

The only *real* benefit I've noticed from using an outside client is that you don't have any advertisements, no crazy load times (but without a 28k modem you won't have this) and you have more space, but now hotmail provides tons of space so there's no real threat unless you and your friends email movies back and forth and you HAVE to save everything forever.

If you relay want to give Microsoft the virtual finger then get GMail. Tell me your Hotmail address and I'll send you an invite. In fact anyone who wants a GMail invite( You have to receive one to use the service, GMail is E-Mail by Google =D ) Just PM or post your Hotmail/Yahoo/Whatever address and I'll send you one. Hotmail gives you 250MB of storage, GMail gives you 2775 MB, domokun PWNt.
