Ranks

Wolves may hold multiple ranks upon IC discussion.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

King: In ‘charge’ the King is not necessarily the highest attainable rank. Members of the pack follow the King’s lead and he is expected to be strong enough to ensure the survival of the pack.

Advisor: Whomever holds the rank of King is often busy. Because of this there are Advisors to the King. The Advisors inform the King of what is and should happen. There can be one or many. Often they out-rank the alpha on some matters.

Spy Master: In charge of knowing the identity and whereabouts of all pack spies and even enemy spies the Spy Master is sworn to secrecy. Not even Advisors know all spies under the Spy Master. There is only one wolf who will hold this rank. They will confere with the King or his Advisors, but mainly with any pack Seers. They are also incharge of keeping the pack spies in line.

Provost: The main disciplinarian under the King the Provost is expected to punish all who disobey orders, extract information from prisoners, find and capture wolves of interest, and ensure the protection of the pack. Under their command are guards. High gammas, betas, or alpha-like wolves may hold this position. There is generally only one Provost.

Vagabond: Not required to stay within the pack at all times it is generally preferred that these wolves seldom make appearances. Much like spies vagabonds generally have two specific tasks. They can either wander free range in search of potential members or allies, or they can be sent to quietly follow any wolves deemed potential threats. Some times they will be required to carry out small tasks away from the pack.

Princess: More a rank created to give the illusion of power than an actual powerful rank. A Princess is expected to be a speaker for the pack. They will meet with wolves from other packs and either lie to them, befriend them, or carry out any other intentions. They are expected to have diginity, and have a way with words and other wolves, or atleast be a good enough pretender to fool those they talk with. To satisfy them Lures are generally expected to attend Princesses when not engaged in other activities. Due to the general obnoxious behavior of Princesses it is generally frowned upon to have more than one.If Princes and Princesses have puppies together those pups can assume the role of Prince/Princess through little effort.

Prince: Much like Princesses except fitted for males. Lures are not required to attend to Princes, though some do, and for the most part Princes can boss around low ranking scouts or guards. Princes are expected to accompany Princesses if they are present in the pack. Due to the general arrogant behavior of Princes it is generally frowned upon to have more than one. If Princes and Princesses have puppies together those pups can assume the role of Prince/Princess through little effort.

Spy: Unlike Vagabonds Spies can either remain watchfully inside the pack or plant themselves in an enemy group. While they mainly exract information from enemies it isn't unheard of to find them even in ally packs. Spies can relay learned information to some trusted Vagabonds, but mainly report to either pack Seers or the Spy Master. Spies sometimes carry out small parts of pack plots and generally should not draw much attention to themselves. In some cases spies must be willing to save themselves as the pack will not always be near enough to aid them should they be discovered.

Lure: Likely the only 'seductive' rank Lures are generally meant to be distractions. In any situation Lures are supposed to draw attention away from the pack and to themselves. Lures are especially useful in ambushes or kidnapping attempts. Lures are generally adolescents or young adults. Primarily a female role there can be males if they fit well enough to the task.

Guards: Pack security Guards are expected to keep intruders out and protect the packlands. They must be willing to fight when needed. There are three variants of the guard position:

High Guard - Often seen with the Provost High Guards are the warriors of the pack. Whether through strength or cunning these wolves are the best of the guards. It isn't unheard of for High Guards to assist the Provost in excrating information assaulting betas/alphasin times of hostility between the Black Merchant pack and an enemy. High Guards deal mostly with wolves outside the pack.

Common Guard - Allowed to command over Lower Guards to an extent Common Guards main concern to to ensure that packmembers are all filling their roles. If a packmember is under attack by another member Common Guards will sometimes be allowed to aid the member and straighten matters out so the pack can function normally. If there is an enemy wolf mascarading as a member it is up to a Common Guard to find them and bring them to the attention of a High Guard. Common Guards deal mostly with wolves inside the pack.

Lower Guard - The lowest of the guards these wolves are concerned mainly with the packlands themselves. Often seen amongst scouts Lower guards are expected to ensure the packboarders are secure. If enemies are able to infiltrate the pack it is considered a fault of the Lower Guards. Lower Guards deal mostly with scouts and perimeter security.
