Sonata Arctica has to be one of my top five favourite bands at the moment. Whether it be Tony's vocals, Jani's Guitar riffs/solos, Marko's Bass lines, the amazing keyboardist Henrik, and Tommy's Drumming. This band is in my opinion one of the most talented bands around. I've been listening to Reckoning Night a lot more, and for some reason people seem to dislike it..Why? I think it's got some of their career highlight songs. The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Real Puppet, Shamandalie, Wildfire. The list goes on. My favourite songs by Sonata Arctica would be Shamandalie, White Pearl, Black Oceans..., The Boy Who Wanted to Be A Real Puppet, Victoria's Secret, Broken, and many more.

Discuss one of the best finnish bands around.

I only have 'Silence', but it's a mightily awesome record. I especially like 'Weballergy' for it's somewhat confusing, but simultaneously inspiring lyrics, although 'Wolf and raven' is my favourite of the album, and therefore my favourite Sonata Arctica song. sweatdrop
So, another band I definitely have to be sure I get more albums by. I hear their first is usually considered their best after 'Silence', right?

Incidentally, they have great production, especially on the keyboards. I think this is best highlighted on 'Revontulet'. Icy cool sounding! biggrin

Yeah, Sonata Arctica is pretty great. I went through a whole SA phase a while back, it was great. I went to one of their concerts in Montreal, back in January, that was fun. Now, I don't listen to them as much, much I still indulge from time to time.

They're a pretty catchy band and have fun songs, but if you really break it down. Tony's vocals can get pretty annoying after an extended period of time, and the bass lines aren't really all that innovative. But that's only if you reaaally pay attention.

SA is a pretty super band all around. :3 Some of my favourite songs have got to be Shy, Revontulet, Talullah, Last Drop Falls, Victoria's Secret, San Sebastien (Revisited), and for the longest time, Wolf&Raven. But seriously, I think most, if not all, of their songs are great.

SA to me is what I call "great car music". Meaning, it's really great when you have to drive longer distances. rolleyes

Yeah, they are great! And of the general powermetal selection, they do stand out nicely. I think I have all their album (might be lacking new ones if they've been making something in the last year) and so far they all have a lot of great tracks. I won't be naming any recent favourites but Full Moon was what got me into the band and so it has the "special favourite" status for me. whee
