The little instumental piece that Max and his band played as Conan walked to his desk was part of "The Pot", I swear! They ended it with "You must have been out your mind" even though no words were spoken. Niether Conan or Max mentioned the name of the song or Tool but that is what they played. I don't think its on YouTube yet because its Mondays show and just finished airing. I was not expecting to hear The Pot on Conan. BTW, John Lithgow, Lewis Black, and Gomez were the guests.

Another reason why I should watch Conan more often gonk I heard 'The Pot' is being promoted like crazy on several rock stations, so I guess I'm not completely surprised.
Now to find a clip of it before NBC has YouTube pull it.

This blows. I can't find a Youtube clip of it or a torrent.
Which is really odd, considering how fast that Peeping Tom clip went online. I'd think Tool has more of a following. Then again, how many Tool fans tune into Conan? Bolllocks.

They played it AGAIN! This timed Conan asked who did it and what the name of the song was and Max said something like, "It's a terrific band, Tool". Then Conan made a joke about how simple and mono the names sound.. "The Pot" "Tool"....
Another pleasent surprise for late at night.

Interesting little result I read a while back because of it: Blair Just a quick thank you to those hundred or so people who sent me e-mails about The Max Weinberg 7 playing a part of "THE POT" on Conan O'Brien last night (11-16). Many of you found it "funny" or "interesting" to hear horns doing Maynard's vocal melodies. Well, I guess that's what happens when a decoy album spawns a couple of singles and goes platinum. The sneaky bastards probably knew that the band was in Europe at the time and wouldn't be watching, and they probably selected "The Pot" because we posted the official lyrics to it on the website. Either that or Mastodon turned them on to it. Okay... part of "The Pot" was played on Conan last night. But let's see if Max (or was it Wormworth?) and the boys play it again tonight. How about mixing it up a bit and doing "Eulogy", or "The Grudge", or "Parabola", or "Third Eye", or "Reflection" or... my favorite, the 'Salival' version of "Pushit" (with a trombone doing the vocal melody, mister Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg!). Better yet, maybe do something off of "Crapsteaks Smothered in Dictators", or "Nurse Ketimella's Kit*Chen", or "Bethlehem Abortion Clinic" or how about an early version of "Pushit" from "Just Up That Dirt Road: TOOL LIVE! at the Acropolis." Let's see them try that while the band isn't looking!

either way the video had been removed and I will never see it...
could be worse I guess.
Imagine if it were played on some crappy other late night show...well I guess most of us wouldnt of known about it then...
